Ash_735
GTA San Andreas was released the same year on Xbox as the Xbox 360 came out, they didn't do a 360 version version of San Andreas (the one you get on the PS3 and Xbox 360 are "Classics" just the original games emulated). don't forget the new consoles will be pricey, and will take time to build up a decent line up of games before the average person will consider buying it, we're talking (IF it does come out this year) around Q2 2014 before it will relly kick off for the general public. Matty
GTA is not the type of game that is going to appear on two generations of consoles. It is going to be PS3, 360 and eventually PC. Exactly. No GTA game ever has been released on two generations of consoles, why would they start now? Even if the new consoles were to be released this year (which I find highly unlikely, personally). Reason = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Except that not many people would own the consoles. Sure, some people would buy the new consoles if GTA V were to be released on the new consoles, but I wouldn't think that it would be a decisive factor considering it wouldn't be refined in any way to take advantage of the newer hardware, and the next gen consoles will be more expensive than the current gen consoles. No GTA game ever has been released on two generations of consoles, why would they start now? Even if the new consoles were to be released this year (which I find highly unlikely, personally). Both PS2, PS3 have GTA San Andreas, right? (Correct me if I am wrong) Yeah, you're correct, but it is digital port - which is able to be purchased over the Playstation Network and Xbox Live; not as a hard copy. It is also not refined in any way to take advantage of the newer hardware as far as I know. If we are talking about a refined version of GTA V to take advantage of the hardware of the next generation consoles, then that will never happen as it hasn't happened in the past. If we are talking about digital ports well then yeah, that is possible but even then, it probably won't happen until several years after release as was the case with GTA: San Andreas. don't forget the new consoles will be pricey, and will take time to build up a decent line up of games before the average person will consider buying it, we're talking (IF it does come out this year) around Q2 2014 before it will relly kick off for the general public. kudoboi
your predictions are wrong, the earliest next-gen consoles with be available is mid-next year. There is no way they would release GTAV with new consoles coming out 5 or 6 months later. http://www.geek.com/articles/games/sony-hi...n-may-20130114/ Hiroshi Sakamoto, vice president of Sony’s Home Entertainment division, gave a brief interview with Chilean website El Mercurio On-Line at the weekend. During their chat he was asked about a new PlayStation. His response was quite surprising, suggesting we’ll hear something at E3 in June, “or even earlier in May.” El Mercurio’s reporter must have been as surprised as we are such an answer was forthcoming from a Sony VP, so he checked by asking if the big announcement they had planned was definitely for a PlayStation or something else related to it. Hiroshi confirmed it was for the PlayStation, and that’s all we would hear until May. so yea its probably gonna release this year Lol I could link you a simillar article saying how GTAV is going to release in may 2012. well we will see then. i don't think the VP of sony would lie about it
Marlo-Lionches
Why would I buy it again after I have already completed it? All there would be is free roam with the graphics a little bit better (and I would of free roamed for hours and seen everything anyway) for £40+ pound there is no point buying just for the graphics. Terrible idea.

mobe
People are forgetting that no game helps sell a console like GTA. If a highly optimized GTAV, running at a constant 60FPS etc with additional content was a launch title for the PS Orbis how many people would buy a console on launch day? A fair few I think. mattmason55
Playstation 4 and Xbox 8 or 720 will be released at the end of the year. GTA V will be released for both consoles, with improved graphics, and maybe a few adjustments and/or extra's. You may be more right than you know. Except... The rumor I've heard, and I've got reason to believe this is correct, is that Sony have done an exclusivity deal (it'll be timed exclusive of course) and the Orbis (it definitely won't be called PS4 this time around) will get it first. The Orbis version will of course by highly optimized with additional features. I'll eat my hat if this turns out not to be true. This is some serious narrow thinking. Porting a game costs tons of money, not to mention all the extra costs, like marketing etc. R* would have absolutely NO reason to do this. Selling a game two platforms that together sold 180 million units is good enough for them, they won't "try" to make the game sell on a new platform, not GTA V at least. There are also other games that R* is going to develop. Why in the world would they only focuse on GTA V? After it's released that game is done for them (besides the DLC), but I'm 99% sure that there will be no port. To the PS4, I doubt it will be called Orbis. Why? Because PlayStation is a widely known name. It would be completely ridiculous and stupid to change the name of a system. PS4 is what it will be. This reminds me of the boomerang controller for the PS3, everyone loved the DS controller, hence why Sony ended up going back to it, because people KNOW it. It is completely possible for sony to make its name the playstation orbis, they're that big of a company people dont care what its name is, they will sell no matter what. If you search the net, 90% of people have said the next xbox will be announced at e3, and for sony if not at e3, abit later, xbox is expected to be released before christmas, and sony will try to match microsoft, as microsoft took alot of profits releasing the 360 before the ps3, sony will not want to make the same mistake of coming in late. vince91
if the ps4/720 can't play games designed for older consoles, maybe.. but i don't think they will improve anything.. the strategy i see rockstar using right now is the 'mysterious' approach. i remember the never ending lists of facts and small confirmed details long before gtaIV came out.. and this time we know almost nothing.. and it works, it's driving you guys insane! To me that still stands more as a test for the now Rockstar New England, they needed a PC port of the game, and what better way to quickly test their new console tools than to see how it handles PC code? Other games released around that time (Red Dead, The Warriors, Midnight Club 3, etc) didn't get an Xbox 360 version, if they wanted to push sales they could have easily ported the PC version of San Andreas and done a quick cash in on that, but they didn't. Matty
The PC release follows 2 months after consoles release[...] I doubt that this statement will be the case with GTA V somehow. History tells us that the PC release of a new GTA title generally comes around 6-8 months after the initial console release (it took 8 months after the console release of GTA IV for it to be released to the PC release) and consider also that a PC version of GTA V hasn't even been announced yet. Kjax39
Ported? BS. It will end up like GTA SA and be released in 8 years, of course in the original version without any enhancements. Why? Because people will still buy it. Why spend money on improving an old game when you can sell the same game with no additional costs, you will always find people who buy it. Andreas
GTA V will only release for current generations consoles, XBox 360 and PlayStation 3, and for the PC platform. I do not think that Rockstar is going to port the game to the next-generations consoles. It sounds maybe profitable to you but the reality isn't certainly like this. XBox Durango rumoured to be released in November 2013 and Sony would release the new PlayStation soon after the Microsoft console, if it is not even (almost) simultaneously. When the new consoles are on the market, then the current systems still will be relevant for a while and I'm more than certain that this will not stop videogame developers to develope games for the current systems. You have to assume that it will take a bunch of time until the console base of the new systems will be big enough to be profitable for bigger titles like Grand Theft Auto. It is correct that a GTA game can increase the sales of the consoles but in this case it would not have an impact like GTA IV. GTA IV increased the sales of the PS3 in the first week by 127% and the sales of the X360 by 125%. It's clear that GTA V couldn't do something like this since it's a current-gen game, and not a next-gen game. I don't know why Rockstar would even bother about a next-gen release of GTA V because the costs to make the port would be definitely not low and why should they try to release a big title on a new system that is barely owned by anybody yet? The sales have their peak in the first weeks and then it slows down. That is a point that needs to be considered as well and if you take everything that I and some other people here in this topic said into account, do you still think that Rockstar would do it? The__Phoenix
Just the idea itself is delusional, not worth it in business terms and you are wasting time and resources, instead to focus on a new proyect. I hope they learned the lesson with Agent, you need to be sure when planning a proyect. They wasted two years with an unsuccessful proyect like Agent was, so I guess they are going to be more cautious with the proyects they choose. I think they are going to start the next GTA soon after GTA V is released. Anyway, the PC version would work as a next gen game if you have a powerfull PC, so there is no need for a PS4/720 version. mobe
Mark my words it will happen. Ubisoft have all but admitted Watch Dogs is going to be a cross generation game and there's strong mutterings that Naughty Dog (i.e. Sony) will do a similar thing with The Last of Us. I'm sure others will do a similar thing including of course Rockstar. The next gen consoles will be released much closer together than some people think, unless there are technical production difficulties (some people are already claiming Sony are facing difficulties, we'll need to wait and see) They also by the sound of things will be cheaper than they were last time on launch day. Certainly Sony won't go down the £500 road again with the PS3's successor. They don't need to and they won't. Pick up on both consoles will be far higher as a result. It makes total financial sense for Take 2 and Rockstar to release a highly optimised GTAV with its own exclusive content for the next gen consoles all over again to maximise profit whilst the game is still fresh. People here going on about how Rockstar will wait 6 years or so to release it again aren't understanding it. Selling San Andreas and Vice City at bargain prices for the PS3 and 360 to a few die hard GTA fans who want to play them all over again is making Rockstar pocket money. Selling a highly optimised GTAV as a release day game for next gen consoles at full price will see them rake in the money. The gamble is of course that GTAV on the current hardware is a success and people love it enough to want to invest in it again. Rockstar will have to be super confident they're making a truly epic game. So far it seems they've got every reason to be confident. S1LV3R_W0LF
PC won't follow the same pattern of the other years, same way GTA won't be released on consoles for Christmas like before. Durden
You want the hughly improved graphics on next gen console If the graphics really were so "hugely improved", then it would never happen since every huge graphical advance symbolizes a new era. But if it was a full moon on friday the 13th, all the planets alligned, and R* released V on next gen consoles too but improved, then yes I'd buy it. @Hvitdverg: Yes its true, look at yesterday's IGN Daily Fix.
