I walked past the TV section on the way out, and all the screens had a live police chase from the helicopter view, as is common in LA, so I paid no attention and there was no sound, so I forgot about it. I left the store and got on the San Diego freeway (the "405") southbound heading home. After a few miles, I sort of noticed that the northbound traffic had thinned out to nothing, which means there is an accident somewhere up ahead in their lanes. But then I saw a white SUV being followed by about 20 police cars or so, full lights flashing across the whole field of view, and I realized, huh, that was the chase that was on TV. Later that night I found out it was OJ hunkering down in the soon-to-be-infamous infamous "white Bronco." In driving the LA freeways, I have seen about 5 accidents in real time, including a couple instances on the Harbor / Pasadena freeways where I happen to look over in the other lanes of opposing traffic and see a car sliding sideways down the freeway in a cloud of blue smoke, with cars on all sides cruising along still in sync with the out of control car.
