Dragonjack
"Man of Steel director Zack Snyder is developing a Star Wars film that will take place outside of the planned new trilogy of movies. Vulture reports that the helmer, who has also made 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch, is "developing a Star Wars project for Lucasfilm that is set within the series’ galaxy, though parallel to the next trilogy. It will be an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsabers." Of course, Lucas' original film was inspired by Seven Samurai as well" Pretty awesome don't you think? Well that's what I think actually. Pagelzilla
Why not? I think the variety will be great for Star Wars.
Creed Bratton
That can't be f*cking true. It shouldn't be f*cking true. Can you elaborate?
WF the Hobgoblin
That can't be f*cking true. It shouldn't be f*cking true. Can you elaborate? I assume he's concerned about the notion of the guy that made Sucker Punch being involved in the new Star Wars films Anyway, he's not doing it. Unless his spokesperson is lying. darthYENIK
I don't think he's that good, but I don't think he's that bad. Just kind of seems mediocre. Man of Steel will cement my opinion of him, either way. Anyway, I wouldn't believe it. I doubt there is going to be a spin off movie being developed at the same time as the main arch. I can't believe that all these big name directors aren't jumping at the chance to direct a Star Wars movie, they're actually jumping away from it. All the guys that have become big names in the past decade or so are all pretty much in that 30-45 year old range that first saw the original trilogy as kids, and they all say they're huge Star Wars fans. You'd think everyone that's not tied up, would want to do it. Of course a screenplay isn't ready, so I'd be waiting for that before signing anything. Dragonjack
I bet Uwe Boll wouldn't say no. Disney would say, "Yes" most definitely and I'm not sure what does it mean for the company aswell. Will it affect Zack Snyder though?
darthYENIK
No way bro. No one wants to be the dude to make another sh*t Star Wars film. Lucas sort of got away with it because of all the love for the original trilogy, but here we have a fresh slate for new films. The room for optimism and hope is endless. No high profile director wants to take the chance of crapping all over that. It'd be too public a bomb. Like John Carter times 20. A young, ambitious, eager director is the way to go. Buoyed by a script written by a veteran who gets the universe. I was thinking that as well (about them not wanting to f*ck it up, and be blamed for ruining Star Wars' second chance), but I'd think one of the people that have been confirmed to have been asked to have the confidence to take this on. I'm sure they wont have trouble finding a good director to do this, I just never though all the big names would say no. Guess they'll have to aim lower on the Hollywood directorial totem.
