Will the 'Push' function return?

One of my favorite additions to GTA IV (aside from the Euphoria Physics), was the ability to push people. It was absolutely hilarious to push elderly ladies down stairs, push a fat police-officer in front of a passing train mid-way through eating a donut, things of that nature. Do you guys think it will return in GTA V? In the GameInformer magazine, they mentioned that Michael takes a hostage in an office after rappelling down the side of a skyscraper and bursting through the window. I'm thinking that maybe it will be the same button to push people, but holding the button down results in the protagonist taking a hostage instead.

When taking a hostage, it would be awesome to be able to push them (similar to Saints Row 2 & 3, but not to the extent that you literally throw them through the air). This would give you the ability to really have control over where they go, as opposed to trying to angle yourself properly before pushing them like in GTA IV.

Opinions?

It will most likely be making a return. It's a fun thing that I am pretty sure R* will not miss out.

What he said.

If its in IV, its most likely in V. I loved pushing people off of high places when I was bored.

It must and will. I remember pushing a man to death without any help of the enviroment (trains and such)

The part where Michael takes a hostage is probably just a cutscene.

Both games use the euphoria engine for character physics so it's safe to say that yes, we'll be pushing people smile.gif

The fact that you could take a hostage and even hogtie them in Red Dead, i guarantee V will have some sort of grappling button. Just being able to grab people would be cool because then you could push them off of buildings. The fighting system has been improved so I don't see why they wouldn't finally let you push/grab.

I'll be perfectly honest here, didn't know you coulf fight effectively until TBoGT came out, I always just used shotguns or kicked them then ran away, because they'd swarm and beat my ass down otherwise. lol so it was never a feature i used much, might run around shoving folks during the upcoming Social Club event...

Weren't the pushes in Gta4 automatic? It'll be nice to have back but assign a button this time to be able to control who you push and don't.

or was this a feature that came with TBoGT......?

The part where Michael takes a hostage is probably just a cutscene.

Not a cutscene, since he's prompted to start shooting with the person still held hostage, but it could be a mission-specific thing. It does sound like it happened automatically, especially since it was the target he was grabbing, the guy who you are supposed to extract from the building during this mission. He wasn't grabbing one of the IAA mooks to use as a body shield.

@JupiterSkies

You can push the melee attack button at any time without targeting anybody and you just push them (or push the air if there's no one around). I only have the vanilla version of GTA IV as well, so it's in there.

I must agree on this. While it's not exactly a stretch to imagine this being a feature in gameplay, I do believe that was a cutscene. As for pushing people, I don't see why they wouldn't include it. Goes perfectly with the Euphoria Engine and is even useful when running away through crowds.

I hope we can grab them and then throw them to a river, to the road and into the car trunk if they finally allow us to use them.

Realistic Stank

For a time when GTA IV first came out, I found it ridiculously entertaining to push a pedestrian holding a cup of coffee and then pick up the cup and aim and throw it at him as he ran away.
