DarrinPA
I can agree with that for the most part. A few episodes the past few seasons have been good. It's a shame to end something that could become relevent again considering that it already has such a huge following.
El Dildo
It's a shame to end something that could become relevent again considering that it already has such a huge following. hey I'm with you. you're preaching to the choir. I would be glad to save The Simpsons if they could be saved. but they've been declining for awhile now. they've had several chances to right the ship, and yet it's still sinking. I'm afraid it's only a retirement program now ($$$) for the actors, writers, and producers who make A LOT OF MONEY per-episode. and that's a terrible reason to keep something going. just let it die and move on to new things. DarrinPA
I do feel as if you are right about the retirement thing. I wonder who has the power to turn it around, besides people like Matt Groening who doesn't care anymore. Could Fox step in and atleast make them hire new [or classic] writers? Icarus
I'd love to see The Simpsons move on if they could write episodes like those of the Golden Era, but after nearly a quarter-century on the air, it's hard to stay fresh.
Verdant
Wow, this is pretty upsetting. Everyday after School, I would watch Simpsons on TV 3 episodes a night. When The Simpsons movie came out in cinemas my school was so hyped for it. Now, it's time to put The Simpsons to rest. Hopefully the voice actors start a new show for a couple years. I really want to know where the voice actors will head now..
Matty
I also watched and I loved The Simpsons as I was growing up, I still do watch it occasionally when I see it on and I do agree that the show has most definitely become a shell of its former self. It would be nice to see the series brought back to its glory days which would be fantastic, but I couldn't see it happening unfortunately. Even when the series does come to an end (The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean said he wants to complete 30 seasons of The Simpsons by the end of the decade), television networks around the world will no doubt continue to air repeats of the older episodes for many years after it ends anyway. There are still the odd good episode amongst the newer seasons though, but the "Golden Era" is still where it's at IMO, I also enjoyed the film as well. Some of my most memorable quotes from the show (and to add to the list that Icarus listed) include: "Me fail English? That’s unpossible." "Oh, no, sir. They're saying "Boo-urns, Boo-urns.'" "Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and then the baby looked at me." "Ooh, look at me! I'm making people happy! I'm the Magical Man from Happy-Land, in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Lane!" / "Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic ." "I'm going to the back seat of my car, with the woman I love, and I won't be back for ten minutes!" Edited January 16, 2013 by DTUMan
Dingdongs
Grew up watching them as well... Family guy has been better now for years compared to the Simpsons. You can't push 30 years and keep making good material... unless uou age the characters or something
Finn 7 five 11
Firstly, finn's article link is ancient. It's already been confirmed that The Simpson's will have a 25th season. Harry Shearer has expressed his thoughts that the show should probably end on the 25th season but nothing has been confirmed yet. So basically, it's not necessarily finished just yet, but it could be soon. Well if you clicked the link you would see that it says right at the top "Update: Simpsons has been renewed for season 25". Even if it is old, it still illustrates that the Simpsons are ending and there are only a few newer articles anyway. "Mmmmmmm, radioactive gooooo" As pointed out, Boo-Urns. c
Corndawg93
I love the Simpsons but I'm not really fond on after 20+ years they haven't aged a bit Like Maggie should be 20, Bart should be 30 and Lisa should be 28 and friggin granpa Simpson should be dead

My point is that the article initially stated that 24 would be the last season. Now it's been confirmed that there will be a 25th season. No one however, has confirmed that 25 will be the last so you can't say it's definitely ending yet.
Lock n' Stock
It's about time. If you ask me, the show has been past it's prime for about a decade now and the new episodes are a hit-and-miss, especially the Treehouse of Horror episodes. I haven't even watched the latest one considering how awful the previous one was (the segment of Homer communicating through farting while paralyzed was f*cking RETARDED). BRITLAND
Simpsons should of stopped doing full seasons years ago I'd say season 15 was a good place to stop, but they could do the Halloween specials every year & maybe another holiday special like XMas, Easter, July 4th etc Or things similar to their movie
Radoonhagaydoon
2013 last season, and 2014 The Simpsons Movie 2... to end it for good.
cp1dell
Movie was good. Show went downhill after that. It seems most TV shows that make it to the big screen, are crap after the movie. I would have been fine if the movie was a sort of "series finale." Maybe if it ended a bit differently.
Mr Rabbit
there is a problem with this article it says right underneath the picture Update: simpsons renewed for seasons 24 and 25 which completely contradicts the headline that says that 24 will be the last season no matter what. so what? a typo? Redketman
It would be quite sad if The Simpsons ended on day. I can't say I would be suprised if it did happen though since the newer episodes are far from great. I don't know why it's like this but it seems like the producers are out of new, good ideas. There are no good storylines, few jokes, and even the couch cags suck these days! When I heard that there was going to be a new Simpsons episode about Angry Dad some time ago I finally thought there would be a great Simpsons episode again. But that episode didn't turn out to be a success in the end. After I saw the Simpsons episode in which Lady Gaga was included, I haven't even bothered to watch any new Simpsons episodes because that episode I mentioned was really, really, bad! The only memorable new Simpsons episode is the one when Homer and Chief Wiggum become friends IMO. I don't know why, but it's one of those kind of episodes with a good storyline and it's also an episode you can watch more than once and still enjoy very much! All in all, The Simpsons was a great show untill around 2003 and still a good series until around 2006 +/- one year or so.
Sgt. Foley
30% less, who cares? That is $250 000 a year. Per episode, not a year. If it's per episode I would just take it. So If they agree with that, and they do 20 episodes, that equals up to 5,000,000. Don't complain, that's alot.
Space Cowboy
I didn't even watch last 3-4 seasons...are they worth watching? I guess it's not as good as older ones. The Simpsons was a great show hands down, but it's time to end I guess.
