Finn 7 five 11
http://screenrant.com/the-simpsons-final-s...-24-aco-135041/ In a nutshell, Simpsons just isn't performing and the iconic series that is one of the longest running shows ever to air on TV, and I enjoyed it so so so much when I was a kid, and the older episodes still crack me up, it's sad when shows end, leaves me feeling depressed, anyway here is the article in case you didn't wanna click the link. In an attempt to save the series from an immediate cancelation, many of the producers have already agreed to take a pay cut, to help trim the budget. Unfortunately, the major sticking point for the studio is the voice actors. Fox TV has asked each of voice actors to cut their salaries from the current $440,000 per episode down to $250,000 per episode. The voice actors have been given until Friday to decide. In a sense, Fox TV is asking the actors to take such a drastic put cut in order to be able to produce one final season of the long-running series. According to the studio, The Simpsons is in no way financially viable in its current form, and even the overall 30% decrease in productions costs that the studio is looking for will not save it – though, it will allow them to continue for one more year. Perhaps everyone is stuck between a rock and a hard place. FOX undoubtedly cannot forget that The Simpsons saved the network from going under 23 years ago, and is trying to make things work the best they can – especially since the series isn’t performing as it once was. As for the actors, they certainly do deserve to be financially rewarded for playing a part in the success of the series. Of course, all of that now is a moot point. With the actors having to decide whether or not to get paid 30% less next year or not at all, it’s not too difficult to figure out what they’ll decide – if only for the memories. And with a final season, it does present the perfect opportunity for some amazing things to happen. With so many wonderful writers playing a part in the series over the years, one cannot help but believe that many would like to return to bid The Simpsons farewell. Mr. Reaper.
$440,000 per episode down to $250,000 per episode. Either way, f*ck them.
Mister Pink
The Simpsons are great and I don't know if I've watched any recent ones. It would be nice if they just called it a day and left it with some dignity rather than trying to ride it out to the dying end. On a more serious note. I fully agree with your comment. Let is die with dignity, it's already going downhill. Let us remember it as the awesome show it was once. Not this generic abomination it's become.
Typhus
I have no respect for them anymore. They treat their fans like sh*t and deserve whatever misfortune befalls their show. Here's an example of their douchebaggery: Encouraging fans to create a new character and when they do, killing him off within a second of his first appearance. And let's not forget all the episodes which cram Marge and Lisa down the audiences throat and no matter how boorish or rude they are, we're told to sympathise with them. The show has been awful for a long, long time. And the fans who claimed that 'it's as good as it was in the '90's' should be ashamed of themselves. To have a show you respected go downhill and have the supposed fans of said show defend its drop in quality is indefensible.
Punk-in-Drublic
They should have ended it 10 years ago, the 1990's/early 2000's was when the Simpsons was decent, can't watch any of those new episodes!

Come on now, The Simpsons was a good show until season 17/18. Season 2 - 10 are still the best, but up until season 18 it's watchable.
Sup3rman
Its sad to see Simpsons go...but every good thing must have an end. I also havent really seen all the newest episodes, but the ones i have were quite boring, and the jokes werent as good as they used to be. I think money should be wasted to hire better screenwriters, instead of canceling the show just yet.
Firefly8000
Am I missing something? This article is from a year ago and no other mention of cancellation has been mentioned since. Doesn't seem like it's being cancelled yet.
dyspoid
I don't think the voice actors are going to give a crap about a pay cut. 30% less, who cares? That is $250 000 a year. They are VOICE ACTORS. Is there a new cartoon coming out any time soon that will be willing to pay that amount of cash for the voice of one character? Sure, it might be a pay cut, but it's that or retire, from where I'm sitting...

El Dildo
good. The Simpsons have been dead for years. they haven't been funny or relevant for about a decade now. they should have stopped while they were ahead but everyone was making so much money. Radoonhagaydoon
It's speculation, I don't think it will happen. Maybe they will since it's ending in 2014, maybe one last season and another movie to end it. who knows, we'll have to wait and see.
AceRay
I'm pleased. It hasn't been good for the last decade so its good to see it finishing.
SIKKS66
I still watch it, it's passable. Not a patch on the golden age but I adore the characters and the odd great, new episode ('Holidays of Future Passed') makes up for all the sh*te. I do think an injection of new talent into the writers staff would help, overseen by some of the old guard. It's a cultural phenomenon that probably earns more cash through merchandising and syndication than other show on TV; of course the voice actors should be fighting tooth and nail for whatever wage they think they deserve. Voice actors are usually underpaid and don't get the credit they deserve anyway.

DarrinPA
The Simpsons is in no way financially viable in its current form Then why not make it financially viable again? Fire the current writers and get back the great show runners Oakley and Weinsteinor any person prior - then they'll be beating all of Seth's cartoons in ratings. [EDIT] - Wow, just looked and the movie grossed over $527 million. This series could still make a lot of money when handled properly. Finn 7 five 11
I agree the series has gone down hill pretty bad, But the last decade? Nah, It's only the last maybe 4-5 years when it's gotten really bad, the characters have changed.
Icarus
As much as I've been a huge Simpsons fan since I was kid, the show should have been cancelled a decade ago. Most people say seasons two through ten are the best and I would be inclined to agree, although up until about season 13, I would still consider it decent. After that, it just started going downhill. I haven't even watched any new episodes in the last few years, which is odd for me, considering I followed the show quite religiously. I always love watching old episodes, because it brings back some great memories, notwithstanding some of the great lines that came from that show. "You don't make friends with salad." "Mr. Burns, this is Homer J. Simpson, the father of the big quitter. Well I just wanted to say that I'm a big quitter too... and I quit. " "I'm going outside... to stalk... Lenny and Carl. D'OH!" "You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to Clown College!" There's a lot more that are better, but it's not even 8 am and without my coffee, my brain is off. AceRay
Now that I think about it, Family Guy needs to end as well. Its practically a shell of its former self, just a vehicle for Seth MacFarlane to shout his political views onto everyone.

Just end all of his damned shows - all three of them, also South Park should end too - Bob's Burgers is alright maybe for like two more seasons and then end that as well, only Futurama should remain as the lone show on animation domination

WF the Hobgoblin
Firstly, finn's article link is ancient. It's already been confirmed that The Simpson's will have a 25th season. Harry Shearer has expressed his thoughts that the show should probably end on the 25th season but nothing has been confirmed yet. So basically, it's not necessarily finished just yet, but it could be soon. I adore The Simpsons. It's been one of my favourite shows for pretty much my whole life. As much as I love it though , I agree with Shearer that 25 is probably a good number to go out on. The show has definitely declined in quality over the years, people first started complaining about this round about the tenth season, particularly when Mike Scully became the showrunner. I actually think that generally, the last few seasons have been decent - better than the late teens seasons. I loved the film too. It's had it's ups and downs over the years, but I don't care, it's still the best damn cartoon on tv. South Park has done more to advance the boundaries of television and censorship than any other television show in history. it even opened up new limits for non-cartoon TV shows. The Simpsons really should have quit while they were still ahead.
DarrinPA
South Park has done more to advance the boundaries of television and censorship than any other television show in history. But that doesn't mean it's a good show. [i do like SP I'm just trying to make a point]. Some of the best episodes of the Simpsons have nothing to do with pushing limits, but simply have more heart than any SP episode.

I didn't say that was the only reason why South Park is great. but it's the reason why South Park is much more relevant than The Simpsons. South Park is great in spite of pushing the boundaries, that's just a bonus. like when The Simpsons used to be great it was making relevant social commentary which was also funny because it made so much sense. nowadays The Simpsons has lost its touch. it's no longer funny and it's not relevant. it has nothing to say. which is completely the opposite of where South Park still is.
