I'm not losing my weapons when Wasted

I've recently started a new game of San Andreas, and I've noticed something- I'm not at all losing my weapons at all when I get Wasted, like it is in IV. (I do when I'm busted though). The thing is, I'm not dating Katie (or whichever GF it is, haven't played it in ages).

 

So I need to know: is it the fact I haven't played SA in years made me forget this fact, or is my game glitching?

Well known glitch: date the lady once, the effect suddenly transfers to every save file.

If you have dated the GF (Katy the nurse) during a game and you don't delete the save game(s) the data to keep weapons will carry over into the next 'overwrite' save game data.

Barbara the Deputy Sheriff lets you keep weapons when 'Busted'.

Have the same thing! I never dated Barbara and Katy when this started to happen.

 

I think, I spoke with Katy but never took her out and never spoke with Barbara until later at the game.

 

I thought this was supposed to be like that and it never occured to me that keeping the weapons after dying is wrong!

Just meeting the Girl is enough. As long as you don't 'lose' her as a friend. CJ doesn't have to take her on any date(s).

The message stating CJ will keep his weapons appears in the upper left corner on that first meeting, when she accepts CJ as a beau.

With Katie you don't lose your guns when you get wasted. With Barbara, you keep your weapons when you're busted. It's a common glitch that if you date either, the benefits will never go away and even be on other save files.

Unless you delete the files.

As long as you overwrite the data stays.

The Girlfriend bonus glitch is not caused by overwriting old saves. The game always writes complete information when it saves, and data from overwriting a file probably won't even occupy the same clusters on a hard disk.

 

The glitch is caused by whatever information is in memory when you start a new game. If you load a save with the busted/wasted bonuses and then start a new game then those bonuses will be retained. The glitch can be avoided on PC simply by starting the game up fresh and then starting a new game from the menu. The glitch can be avoided on PS2 by pulling the memory card before starting the game to prevent it from loading any existing saves. I'm not sure what menu options are available on Xbox or PS3, but if nothing else, the Katie and Barbara could be killed to lose the bonuses before starting a new game.

 

Besides the girlfriend bonuses, the only other information that will carry over to a new save is the flag for the objects behind the breakable wall at Smoke's crack palace in East LS. Players of the original PS2 version can break the wall early and have access to the interior, or a big hole into blue hell if End of the Line wasn't complete (other versions require a SWAT van to break the wall). Also, if a new game is started in the middle of Are You Going to San Fierro then the Truth's crops will be enabled during the beginning portion of the game.

 

The are a couple other differences with games that are started from an existing save. The sniper rifle near the crop duster on the hill by the SF airport, and fire extinguishers in the fast food joints won't be spawned.
