TwistedMedia Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Call me crazy, but I think a game set in a Washington-based city could be pretty good as far as originality goes. It's not the cliche location for open world games, and there could be lots of potential for story lines and missions - corrupt politicians, presidential assassinations, and the seedy underworld of the FBI. Don't get me wrong, it would not be as iconic of a city as Los Santos or Vice City, but it would be something completely different from what we are used to. I agree that it would be original, but it wouldn't be the greatest place for a GTA just from a visual perspective. Movies may show Washington D.C. with a skyline for this very reason, because the real city doesn't have a single skyscraper. It just seems like it would be a rather bland, repetitive city with some occasionally interesting architecture. I don't think the countryside would be a saving grace for such a game, either. I don't really know much about Washington myself (being from the UK), but I guess movies do make it seem better than what it probably is I was thinking about that when the GTA V logo was released and somebody found that old 5 dollar bill which had something to do with Washington, which is what made me think of it. Other than that, I hope that in the next GTA we'll see a brand new setting. Vice City should return, too, but only in the 80's... It's got lots of condos, nice weather, lots of huge neighborhoods with nice mediterranean houses and artificial islands. Just so much water. This Me too. I was very much hoping GTA V was gonna be set in Vice City. My dream GTA would be a modern-day Vice City and South Florida state with multiple cities and towns, countryside, forests, swamps and coastline. I still hope there will be another VC in the future. @ Mr. Darko I agree with you about what you stated about Washington DC. I've been to DC, and while it's an interesting city with a high crime rate too, I just don't see it suited to being a great GTA environment. It would work as being part of multiple cities though. kesta195 Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 What I really wanted was Los Santos and Las Venturas. You would make your money in LS by day, and go and spend it all at night in LV. Just thinking about how nice it would have been to be speeding through the desert at dusk and seeing LV all lit up in the distance just makes me sad that R* didn't include it, although for me LS was the city to go to, if we were only to have one city. Modern day London would have been perfect for the same 'money' theme used in GTA V ('The City', huge gulf between rich and poor). A proper San Fierro would have been cool too. I'd love to break into Alcatraz. But I'm very happy about Los Santos. I went to Los Angeles in 2011 so it's going to be really cool to be able to compare LS to my experience of Los Angeles like I was able to with Liberty City/New York (I went to NY in 2007).
