los santos bigger than liberty city?

i see on this forum that a lot of OP,S reckon that los santos will be the same size as liberty city, i would be majorly dissapointed if that is the case.

I am no expert but for starters is LA not way bigger in terms of urban sprawl?? I would be hopefull that rockstar will create los santos URBAN area( not country) way bigger than liberty city and not just "the same size" as LC, as i think that would be poor.

Surely it will be bigger?

Same size. Just the city of V will be as big as ALL of IV. Then there's the country, mountains, underwater, etc.

I have been flying a lot in GTAIV and looking at Liberty City as a whole. I have been analyzing all of the screens out there and both trailers countless times. My opinion is yes it is. If you pushed Broker/Dukes, Algonquin and Alderney together without the rivers it is probably around the same size as Los Santos. That is a big city if you ask me. Los Santos is also only part of the map which is killer. So if you can see the city from behind the Vinewood hills, that will truly be incredible.

The best picture of the city IMO is the night shot of trevor skydiving over Los Santos. The city's lights look amazing and just how they would really look like above L.A. At night.

This is what i mean though. i hope that its BIGGER than the whole of gta iv before we start going to the country and adjoining towns

I thought they said that only the downtown area will be a bit smaller than the size of LC? And so I'd assume that the city would be much larger than Liberty as a whole?

Never mind this!

According to GI, the "expansive environment includes beachfronts, wine country, a large wilderness area surrounding a fully explorable Mt. Chiliad, a Salton Sea region, a military base, and of course the sprawling suburban hills leading up to the bustling urban centre of Los Santos."

Anyways, how can Houser create that "sense of sprawl" without the suburbs? There must be some.

In that same mag it says, "We toned down it's sprawling nature, so we can keep everything interesting". The city is not going to be as ridiculous as yall think. And no downtown is not the size of LC that would be f*cking retarded. Downtown L.A. ain't even that big.

this. In the large "map-thread" it is clearly shown that it's not as big as most of the fans think it will be.

I think it's large enough and if it's density is packed detail, I'm fine with the size they estimate there. But it clearly is not as bis as IV, SA and RDR combined. I doubt that. Even when interiors are counted.

GTA V map will be at least 2x the size of Liberty City, or maybe 3x. Rockstar confirmed the size of the map. bigger than SA, RDR and IV combined.

The guys in the map thread are analyzing photos and trailers, all of which R* has filmed strategically. A lot of the map has not been shown yet.

Yeah, that's obvious. Houser wants to simulate the "sense of sprawl"; not replicate it.

Dang.. I was hoping that it was true.. Ah well...

I don't really expect GTA V map to be monumentally larger than Liberty City.. However, GTA IV was a concrete jungle, with a bit of variety and dead space, GTA V could "feel" a lot bigger.

It's either the same size or a bit smaller. If you piece the panoramic picture and the daytime hollywood sign picture together, it shows the whole city except for whats in, around, and behind the hills.

It's an okay size for me, it's more interestingly laid out than LC for me. And we got freeways and countryside so I'm okay.

PS: Only thing we really can't see of LS is the area northwest of Santa Monica knock off.

It's either the same size or a bit smaller.

gtamodeler's map says otherwise dude. We have yet to see the "suburban hills" they talked about

With that said, even if it's only just about the size Liberty, I'd be pretty happy as it felt large enough for me. So, it's a win-win situation for me.

They say all kinds of sh*t, I won't believe them. First they said "sprawling suburbs" then they said "We have less sprawl so it feels like everything is there" I'll just wait till we get some more shots of the city that aren't just different angles of same shots.

I think they will "deliver" this time (again) but I also doubt lots of the things they said in interviews. Lots of it is just marketing. Follow people through the town, see them working, then drive home, etc - this was "promised" since GTA SA and never happened as they made us believe. So I have high expectations for V, but not as high as some of the folks on these (and other) boards on the net.

Immediately afterwards, they say that they have "captured the sense of sprawl and not necessarily replicated it"

L.A. and NYC are basically the same land mass-wise.

No, actually LA is technically bigger. As far as metropolitan areas, LA is much, much f*ckin' bigger.
