vivalavendredi
Trevor was never in any of the other screens, infact, all we saw from the start was highlighting Micheal and showing us a little bit of Franklin. Maybe they didn't want us to know from the beginning that there are multiple protagonists? Ever thought of that? Storywriting is hard work. It's not as easy as "oh, let's make a third guy so everyone hates us trololoolol*". Of course they might change some things during development, but not the whole idea and story. In my opinion the "I hate bla bla bla" is just bitching around. We will see if we like a character or the game while playing. Currently I kind of "like" Michael, but I don't post a thread like "I love Michael and everyone who hates him is a dumbass and a Franklin fanboy or hates white people". This is bullcrap. When SA was announced and we "learned" what the game will be about, I thought I would like that. In the end I didn't like SA at all. So opinions might change during playing the game. It's the same for movies or books. Don't judge by it's cover (only if "made by Uwe Boll" is on it. Then you can judge it without seeing it )

I loved the idea of Niko but overall, he's not my favourite character at all after playing IV. I don't know if I'm going to like these characters or not. Michael started as my favourite but now I'm just waiting for the game to come out before I jump to conclusions. RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
Kifflom112
I don't really favor Trevor. He's not the type of protagonist I wanted to, play as in V originally. Franklin and Michael seem more interesting to me.
Shadowfox_
OP, nice topic and read. You certainly got a point. Even though I don't exactly "hate" Trevor, I share some of your reasons about how & why Rockstar put in Trevor. I also assume he got put into the trinity as the last. When I first saw captures of him, I liked how Rockstar created him, his looks, like, balding, scruffy, his maniac look...I thought most people would despise him. Only to find out, he is the most loved. Now I really got into the idea of the character Michael. Somehow I'm not too keen on Trevor anymore. Trevor wasn't very well liked when his artwork was unvealed. As soon as he was shown jumping out of a plane and crashing two trains together he became an overnight hero. I understand the appeal that he's batsh*t crazy without the morals after someone so emotional and vengeance stricken as Niko, but he feels like a character R* should've done in the GTA III era. I'm willing to give him a chance to grow on me, but I feel Michael is more representative of the types of protagonists R* have created this gen. There needs to be more on Franklin for me to make judgement on him. and that's why they gave us the option to switch characters...seriously,why do people get so upset or even start topics like this about something that it's not even a problem at all? You people who don't like Trevor don't play as him...simple as that. It's just a game, you either like it or don't ,if you don't then nobody cares...that's like saying that i don't like how the cheetah in the game looks like, well should i make a topic about it ? No. Should i actually consider that as a problem ,making a topic so that other people can say either "but i like it" or "yeah i hate it too" which in the end of the day has no purpose at all ,because everyone can do whatever they want and no one can change their mind.In this example ,if i hated the cheetah then i would not be driving it,that's it. So the same goes for the OP about Trevor,if you don't like him that much, than don't play as him,not to forget that it's a f*ckin' game,it's stupid to hate a programing code, visual models and pixels...sounds retarded. I never said I don't like or don't want to play as him. Although the OP has been a bit aggressive in giving his thoughts he does make some points. Basically I agree a whole lot with this. NikoBellicGTAIV
To the OP: I don't care. Trevor is the best of the three, because he's a guy who does whatever the f*ck he wants. Other people may be limited to some stuff, but according to Rockstar, Trevor isn't. Michael: "We have to be careful, this is about stealth." Trevor: "f*ck YOUUUUUUUU!!!!" Vormek
I also don't care much for Trevor. Comparing Michael and Trevor, Michael is like the Italian mafia - organized, intelligent and controls a lot of businesses, while Trevor is like the Crips or the Bloods. Retarded, loud, wears gang colors and straps themselves. That's like having a sign on them that says "arrest me".95% of the members will end up in jail because of their sloppyness and retarded approach to crimes. Trevor is that retarded, sloppy, moronic approach to crime.

Andreas
Rockstar Games wants to give us the possibility to choose who of the protagonists we want to play, be it Michael, Franklin or Trevor. It is the choice of each of us who we prefer to play and Trevor is a type of protagonist that we have not seen yet in a Grand Theft Auto game so I think that it was a good idea from them. Trevor is sick and starts raging when something works not as he would want and the extent of the damage caused by his tantrums can be massive although he seems to be an intelligent pilot. Personally I would prefer to play the game mainly with Michael but I will definitely give Trevor a chance because I think he and his character are very interesting and something fresh. My least favourite protagonist is Franklin even though I will give him a chance as well. I think we can not exactly say yet who is the best protagonist and who is the worst. I think each of the protagonists should be given a chance because only then, we can argue what the flaws of each of them are. Kratos2000
I hate Trevor. He is a white trash piece of sh*t and I will spend many hours scouring the game world looking for new and creative ways to end his pathetic, useless life. The reason for this hatred is all about pandering. Michael would be an excellent solo protagonist. His background and story are more than enough to carry the entire game, but that wasn't enough for Rockstar. They obviously decided they needed to be "edgy" and "innovative" so they did this multi-protag bullsh*t. Now they already had a winner with Michael so all they needed was a couple more meatsacks for the rest. Franklin was an obvious choice for two reasons - first, you cant have a game set in a "re-imagined" southern California that centers around crime without having a playable black man. Its just not done. Second, Franklin keeps the minority customer base happy (get pissed if you want, I dont care, but you know its true). That handles two of our three protags, that leads me to Trevor. Trevor is a wildcard. He was put into the game to pander to all the little minons of the "me" generation who live thier comfortable little lives in thier parents home while they are handed everything in life yet appreciate nothing. One day, after thier parents pay for all thier education for them, they will be useful members of society but for now they are useless. These people are bored and restless in thier lives and yearn to do some truly crazy sh*t but are to scared to actually do it, but they dream thier sick dreams. Rockstar knows all about these people so they said to themselves "how are we going to whip these little bastards into even MORE of a frenzy so they will be begging thier parents to buy them the game?" and like marketing magic Trevor was born. He is the embodiment of everything these people want to do but cant. He is chaos incarnate and his ONLY reason for being here is to make all the little closet sociopaths drool. Ive played every GTA and one of the best things about all of them is Rockstars refusal to bend to popular pressure and make thier own game THIER way. Of course they included elements of popular culture, but they never pandered just for pandering sake. I hate Trevor for what he represents - Rockstar trading thier integrity for a few more bucks. Now comes the point where all the fanboys will pick apart what I have written here in an effort to show that im wrong (in thier own "logic"). There will also be name calling and people generally acting stupid. You can all say whatever you want but I wont be responding to anyone. Ive said my piece. Indeed, I agree with everything. Franklin just seems to be the random black dude, Trevor is not really insteresting in any way, Michael sounds like a great protag though.

Shaunr
Everyone wants to kill people, but not ACTUALLY kill people. It doesn't matter how old you are, (unless you're a baby) although the urge probably increases as you get older, like you start driving and really think about killing people. And it doesn't matter how much you've been given in your life, and you may have had it backwards even, because people who have gotten less probably have more desire to kill people, but not really kill them. meson1
I wouldn't like to say whether or not I like or hate any particular character at this stage. All we've had is a brief précis of each. For me that summary isn't enough. I need to see the characters acted out and framed in the context of the story. Only then will we begin to see what they are truly like. The OP is making a lot of massive assumptions based on very little data. I prefer to reserve judgement.
