Deffpony Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) This isnt a knit picking thread, but I was rewatching trailer 2 when something kind of stood out. When the Jet shoots the police chopper the explosion that ensues seems kind of wierd. The explosion seems like it was pasted over the top of the video. Further, just seconds after the helicopter explodes you can see that the chopper is virtually undamaged, rotor blades and all, just before the jet crashes into it. Now normally I wouldnt give this any attention but the explosions in GTA IV were pretty spot on, and there appears to be a clear difference in what seems like a post production explosion in the V trailer and an in-game explosion in GTA IV. Just watch this video. Notice how the explosions come from within the ogject, not on top of them. Personally I think that the explosion in the GTA V trailer was tweaked in post production as a dramatic affect, especially since it syncs up with "Getting ready to BLOW" with the song. What do you guys think?? EDIT To show the second explosion is definitely in game footage I made this which shows the explosion form within the Chopper. I think the explosive effects may be less exaggerated in this game. like a car not being all black and charred every time they blow up. perhaps they will get black and charred as they are on fire, but after the explosion. You can see the explosion from within the chopper and also the deterioration of the aircraft immediately. But I noticed there is a stray rocket in the scene that comes from above. WTF!?!?! I never noticed that stray rocket, Wonder who's arse that came from, maybe it was a long range air to air missile, shot from LC. Either way, the first hit does look rubbish, No damage at all, the collision was better but I guess its clear that wings won't get damaged. saintsrow Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Similarly, I kind of thought that the fire effect in the "car on fire on the freeway" scene in Trailer #1 looked like an overlay or some kind of quickly-made effect, not the intrinsic fire that you would expect to be emanating from the 3D car itself. The spirit of the OP is to ask if (or how much) Rockstar has spiced up the trailers with post-production effects or other eventually non-game elements.
