VProductions
I have just noticed that under my name says member log. I have never noticed that before. Has it always been there? Also, why is it there? EDIT: I clicked it and it said no warnings have been issued.
Girish
If you break any rules, all reminders, warnings and bans will be logged there. Similarly, if you do any good work around the forums, any commendations that you receive will also be logged there. The member log can be viewed only by you and staff (mods/admins). VProductions
Ok thanks. EDIT: What could count as good work? Edited January 14, 2013 by VProductions
Andreas
What could count as good work? Being a good all around contributor or creating a topic with an incredible effort and update it regulary are the move in the right direction. If if you report numerous offensive/spam comments or topics, and duplicate topics and so on then that is good as well. It is not simple to explain what 'good work' exactly is, and you should not contribute to the forum just because of verbal commendations, commendations, medals and so on. You should only contribute to the forum because you want it, for example because you want to be helpful. Well, commendations are often unexpected so there is no 'tutorial' how to behave and how to contribute to the forum to do 'good work', thus getting commendations. There are so many ways and it is impossible to list everything. It was not your question but I want to point out that if you receive warnings, be it verbal warnings or full warnings, for whatever reasons (multiple posts in a row, constantly offtopic posts, offensive posts, et cetera) then you should learn from your mistakes and try to avoid doing it in the future. Matty
Anyway we can wipe those out? Like get a clean slate? Maybe after 5 years of good activity. The only way to have a "clean slate", per se, is to create a new forum account. The staff won't clean out memberlog entries as they are used as a track record for individual members. For example, just because a member got a temp ban three years ago for being a complete idiot, it doesn't mean that they haven't changed since then. But the entry about the temp ban remains in that member's memberlog permanently to show what sort of a member they once were compared to the present. Ryan
Anyway we can wipe those out? Like get a clean slate? Maybe after 5 years of good activity. No. They're always going to be there as a record. As DTUman said, you could register a new account for a clean slate, but that's only visually. Staff will still know who you are. If you were a sh*t disturber who had numerous warnings, a new account with a clean slated member log won't help you get away from being banned. Also, why is it there? EDIT: I clicked it and it said no warnings have been issued. It's always there. It contains all of your reminders and warnings. Only you and other mods can see it. Not sure if sectional forum leaders can or not. Wish I could get mine cleaned, but it's not possible. With 4,000+ comments comes a few problems, lol. Shoumaker
No, Area moderators do not have acces to any Member logs other then their own. Only MODerators and ADMINistrators have the ability to do view them, this is why area moderators cannot ban/temp ban people or give verbal commendations. Although they can give recommendations which are taken seriously.

I believe a system exists where member logs are copied to the new account if a new account is created for innocent purposes, such as wanting a new username, then a "Moderator Note" is applied to the old account which has the same effects as a "Full Ban". Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

I've never had a warning or a reminder here, but on other sites where I have it's helped me changed my ways. Some people learn and others don't. Yeah it sucks having a forum "rap sheet" so to speak, but it's necessary in attempting to motivate people to think about the mistakes they've made. Raavi
I unfortunately have had a couple of those. Albeit for stupid little things and giving in to trolls but still. Fortunately I have never been banned though. It's best to just keep "your record" clean, reading the forum rules can help you quite a bit. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise

I don't make rude posts anymore. Or as many. But they're not really intentionally all of the time. On another site, I had a rap sheet and I got a warning... for just pointing out a few issues. The idiotic moderator claimed I was "whining". The site has been updated and it still says I have a warning, but the warning won't appear when you click the log. I used to be a proper dick in my first few months which is why I've got around 3 temp bans and god knows how many verbal warnings, but as of recent I've tried to change, and seeing as I haven't been warned for a few months I guess I'm doing okay. The sh*t in my first few months is forever scarred on my identity here, so I guess for the amount of time I'll spend here I'll always be brushed off as a mardy twat. Kifflom112
Yeah, I've actually seen improvement in you.^^ I thought I was doing good but recently got a warning because I was trying to point out how the R* V info release patterns weren't really true. I used frikkin' and f*ckin' two times. In truth, I wasn't mad, just trying to get a point across, but it didn't turn out well. Even though I didn't intend on offending and wasn't angry, I still feel sorry for making the comment.
grope_4_that_date
One thing I hate about the member log is that it shows all the temporary bans I requested, which makes my log look way worse than it actually is. Sure, I started out a little rough, but about 50% of my log includes temp bans that I requested. Anything we can do about that?

Yeah, one thing I don't get is that if you need to stay away from the forum. Why do you need a temp ban? Just don't come to this website, it's as simple as that if you want your log to be clean. It can't be that hard can it? It may be hard for a few people I understand but a Mod/Admin shouldn't have to temp ban you if you want to stop coming in the forums for a limited period. You should be able to restrain yourself from doing so in my opinion.

Andreas
You requested temp bans, lol? He's not the only one who is doing that. Gtaghost22 requested a temp ban after he got flamed in the GTA V forum to avoid breaking the rules. On the other side, I think it shouldn't be hard to stay away from certain subforums or from the forum in general without requesting a temp ban.
