greenrock Posted January 13, 2013 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Michael and Trevor are best friends, they did many bank jobs togeather but how did Michael become so rich and successful, and Trevor so poor i know Michael was ,most likely, the mastermind and leader of the heists they did, but still Trevor should be living large too it says they had a falling out (maybe over michael FIB deal) but they still remained friends, but have a much more trouble relationship they will bicker alot with each other throughout the game... so did Michael screw over Trevor in a deal, that Trevor might not know alot about how will Franklin deal with the info if he finds out Mike screwed over Trevor,his own best friend, Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Trevor's where he is because of choices he made and continues to make. He chooses to live the way he does. Michael is the same and that's why he has to get back into the game. He probably ditched Trevor after he got his mansion and all of his money. Whether Trevor knows it or not is an entirely different discussion. I think this will be brought up during the campaign and there will be an issue. Michael's ego could of caused tension between this person and himself over their heists, Im going to assume that Michael must of had young children at the time he made his sweet deal, maybe he and his family were threatened and he had to give up this person at some point. Now Michael couldn't of made this sweet deal and have Trevor involved in it because Michael got so much from the deal and i doubt Trevor would still be free man. If Trevor was on the run this long i believe his first interaction with Michael would be to kill him. I think maybe Trevor was left out of the deal Michael made and he only incriminated their leader and the reason why Michael and Trevor have a falling out is because it ends their heists, Trevor looses two talented partners, Michael gets to keep his money from the heists and be put into the Witness Protection Program while Trevor gets away with only his physical money from the heists. Trevor can't really spend his share the way Michael can and explains why he cant live the luxurious life that Michael can and Trevor's drug use and partying take a toll on what money he has left because thats probably the easiest way to spend it. I just feel since they are willing to work with each other again it doesn't seem logical that Michael screwed over Trevor but had screwed up something good he had going. Yeah they're friends, but I think it would be to the extent if you met someone in prison who's a fellow criminal and aligned yourself with them. We don't even know if Michael is under witness protection because he's a "rat." For my money, that's not the case at all, because there is no way the FBI (or FIB) would ever move a witness into a mansion like the one Michael got (especially if said mansion was in the middle of Los Angeles). Trevor still knows Michael, which means Michael didn't have to change his name, which further implies that Michael did not snitch on a criminal, but a different power altogether. Remember, it was described as a "sweetheart deal," what do you think that could mean? There's something fishy about the circumstances. I wouldn't be surprised if Michael stole some valuable documents that incriminated a politician or a high-ranking member of the FIB or something to that affect. Michael strikes me as the kind of person to blackmail someone into getting his own way. I know this just sounds like I'm defending Michael against all the kids on here that shout "snitches get stitches" every time Michael is mentioned. Crumplet Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 The way R* have described Trevor indicates to me that if he was aware that Michael was under witness protection, he wouldn't take so kindly to it. I believe that the trio are strung together by pure circumstance driven by finanical imbalance, Trevor needs the money to maybe fund his drug and weapon distribution ring in Blaine Country, maybe he has larger goals he wants to achieve, Franklin is tired of being a street-thug and has the ambition, skills and mind-set to become something much more substantial, and Michael, of course, has grown bored of domesticated life after his wife and children burn through his money, leaving him no choice but to provide for them, whilst getting back into the 'game', the only line of work he's good at. I honestly think Michael & Trevor have tension and history, and I think Trevor suspects Michael's safe lifestyle but doesn't necessarily put much deep thought into it, that's mostly all going to surface somewhere down the road of the narrative. I don't believe Michael screwed over Trevor necessarily, but I think he definitely had the oppertuntiy to give Trevor a better send-off from that line of work at the cost of Michael living somewhat downgraded, but decided to go all for himself and allowed his ego to make the decision for him. I find it very interesting that he reffered to him as his best-friend in the trailer, that may be very misleading like a lot of what R* does but there's stil a lot we don't know about these two. Very interested in finding out. I think that statement made by Michael in Trailer #2 should be taken as sarcasm with truth to it. He refers to Trevor as his "best friend" because unfortunately he is the only person Michael can relate to as he doesn't seem to have any other friends in his post robbery life and says that Franklin is "the son he never had" because unlike Jimmy, Michael can relate, talk to and teach him. Both of these relationships are based around Crime and just show you that while trying to live this fake ordinary life, he will always be a criminal.
