Master of San Andreas
Ok so I've got a problem here. I take out a rough book to write the main idea of the story and still my head is filled with a blank buzzing alright I write a description about the story and then I'm afraid to continue on! what if the plot dosen't fit? and I also can't think of anything else other than crime and detective stories.I get so many IDEAS but just can't execute it? Also I want to ask two questions: 1)Which sounds better,A World War III story,an Assassins Creed type or the story of the aftermath of a disastrous nuclear explosion that has hit the world 2)What do you fella's do before writing a story? a long one....... Thnx in advance.

Thnx in advance. You are trying to create cloned stories of things you've seen. Stop trying to create a story in the same vain of such stories as Assassins Creed. Sit in a room with your thoughts, think of things that are important to you. Real writing comes from within. "I might have laughed if I'd have remembered how." TonyZimmzy
Werd. Just write whatever, mang. Sometimes I write the most pointless sh*t. Like fake e-mails sent to me involving rape and gang violence.
Eminence
Go back to basics and try to write something simple. You mention wanting advice about writing 'long' stories - if you're having these problems, you need more experience and more practice. Find an idea, the first thing that comes to mind, and write a short version of it. It won't be your best work; that comes later. Once you've done that, do it again. And again. Only once you've developed this experience can you really start thinking about committing to something longer.
AceRay
Write something that you find interesting. Then it will be more entertaining for you to write, rather than something you hate. If you just want to do a big giant action scene for no reason, then write it. Also, planning can help. There's nothing worse than getting five chapters and not knowing what to do in your story. TenEightyOne
There's another short thread discussing writer's block, you might want to take a quick look. It doesn't really go anywhere though. How to write a long story? Write a short one as a plan.
