I'll probably select Michael as my starting protagonist when I first play the game. Although there will be situations throughout the game where you will have to play as each of the three protagonists.

Personally, I've read it many times and it doesn't say anything about that.

It doesn't, if anything it breifly mentions that in the demo all 3 were selectable... but it also mentioned somewhere that all peds cloths were in the players wardrobe or something, so im guessing the demo people saw had "dev tools" on it.

 

Im pretty sure we will start as Michael then unlock the other 3 in the first part of the game.... like it will be based on them meeting and introducing each to us. We have seen how Michael and Franklin meet in the second trailer, unless thats part of the intro which i doubt it is... it means for 100% we dont start will Franklin atleast.

My belief is that the first mission introduces them as it introduces the character selection feature. Michael first (going off somewhere on his bike like in the demo, perhaps?), followed by Trevor and then Franklin when he's finished with his objective, or perhaps we choose between the two then do the last one, so that we're somewhat in control of the order; maybe, maybe not. But then, directly after the first mission we have access to all three. Kind of like the start of a movie, it introduces the main characters as soon as possible, and has them meet later, shifting between perspectives.

 

So that said, I'll probably be sticking with Michael for a little while, since he was who I thought was going to be the protagonist back in the days when we only knew him as "Ned Luke" or "The Balcony Guy". But I'll be sure to give every character their time of day.

It doesn't explicitly state that "you can choose your starting character" but given the fact that Rockstar chose to start off with showcasing Michael - it is a very strong indicator that we will be choosing which protagonist we start out as from the very start of the game. Furthermore to this, another strong if not certain indicator is that the Rockstar playtester switched from Michael to Trevor pretty much right after Michael's opening sequence which begins Trevor's opening sequence - we already know we can do this, but the playtester was not forced to switch to Trevor; he could of easily continued playing as Michael but for the sake of the preview - he chose to switch characters. Lastly, each of the three characters have their own introduction sequences, the third major indicator that we will be choosing which protagonist you start out as. Why would each individual characters have their own opening sequences if we couldn't chose them from the start of the game? It doesn't really make all that much sense.

First Michael, exploring the rich beverly hills side of LS. I want to see their reactions when I steal a cheetah or flip them off . Then Franklin, explore the ghetto side of LS. Maybe beat up a few gang members, control Chop if possible. Oh yeah drive in one of his expensive vehicles . Then the most exciting area and character, Trevor. Dune buggy thorugh all the desert and forest, maybe jump off Mount Chilliad on a quad? Then fly a plane to the city and wreak havok . Thats what i'm doing!

I'd chose Trevor, but I think the games going to force you to play as Michael for the first few missions as I think Michael will be the primary protagonist, Trevor the secondary and Franklin the tertiary.

To you people saying "one playthrough with micheal, one with Trevor etc.." Don't you realize each character will have missions only he can do to further the storyline? Trevor can't act like micheal in a mission involving Micheals family... We're going to have to play as all three sporadically throughout the game. I'm sure you can play as Trevor, do all his available missions, then have to play as another character until more are triggered for Trevor again.

I honestly cant decide. I might play as Micheal just cause I like his look the best, but the atmosphere that Im sure Franklin is going to be around will probably be much more appealing to me.

I do not remember saying this... Which is funny cause now Michael is the least appealing to me.

 

I will probably play whoever is presented to me first. I have a feeling that the character switching wont be opened up immediately but maybe after the 2nd or 3rd mission. Who knows maybe even later

I voted for Michael seeing as I'm 99% sure that's who we'll start as.

 

I'll likely play as him for about an hour, then Franklin for about an hour and then Trevor for about an hour, just to get a feel for how they all differ (I won't even necessarily do it in that order). Then I'll go back and play as the one who I liked most from those first three hours of play.
