MrMateczko
Anyone noticed how on the PC version Wave 103 in-game is a little bit quieter than other radios? Maybe it's like this on the other platforms? Anyone can confirm this?
lol232
It's probably a bug, Wave 103 is quite loud for me.
Space Cowboy
Do you have Steam version or normal? Wave 103 seems to be on the same volume as other stations. I have normal version not Steam.
MrMateczko
I have the original version. When I'm listening to Wave 103 in-game, I can notice that "99 Luftballons" for example, is quieter, than other songs that are on the other radios. Maybe I just have weird ears. MrMateczko
But other songs on Wave 103 are quieter as well.

radioman
From experience, the Radio volume also depends on what vehicle you are in(some vehicles have better sound than others for the radios). Also, your speakers on your PC/Console also determine sound quality as well. So does the Volume settings under the Pause menu. The ONLY difference I noticed is that the MP3 station tends to be a lot louder than the rest of the radiostations. Also, that usually means you are traveling too far out of the stations listening area-lol -(this is just a real life radio stations joke.)
MrMateczko
I've decoded radios from ADF to MP3, and came to the conclusion, that it's the problem with the songs recorded on the radio, and not the radio itself, as the commercials are louder. Case solved.

Something else I noticed, is that the PC version of the radio stations tend to be a lot louder than they are on the Console versions(PS2 and X-Box) for some reason? Guess PC's have better sound quality than consoles do?
MrMateczko
That is true, since PC is 128kbps, and 44100Hz. PS2 is 32000Hz, and probably 64kbps, or 96kbps. Someone can correct me on this?
Ash_735
That is true, since PC is 128kbps, and 44100Hz. PS2 is 32000Hz, and probably 64kbps, or 96kbps. Someone can correct me on this? Certainly. PS2 are ADPCM at 256kbps @ 32Khz, technically, they should sound better, The Vice City stations were quite harshly mastered in regards to loudness (at least compared to LCS onwards, SA suffers from this to on the original PS2 release). The exceptions being KCHAT and VCPR which are ADPCM at 128kbps @ 16Khz. The PC versions are MP3 at 128kbps @ 44.1Khz, except for KCHAT and VCPR, which are 64kbps, but you can get 128kbps versions from Rockstars own website. The Xbox version are WMA9 at 64kbps @ 44.1Khz for all stations and the Tenth Anniversary versions use MP3 at 64kbps @ 24Khz, making them the worst versions available.
