GTAV Review Score?

I'd say it would get higher than IV. It doesn't matter if I think 10/10 reviews are full of sh*t the fact still remains that this game will be better than IV.

Most major video game review sites and magazines base their reviews around the standard that they think video games should be at upon their release as well as if a game, as a sequel, markedly improves upon its predecessors as GTA IV did over the GTA III-era games.

 

I agree with the statements in saying that, technologically, GTA IV was more of a jump from the GTA III-era games than GTA V will be from GTA IV as GTA V is still using the same basic engine, albeit really refined, as GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption did (even though Red Dead Redemption improved on almost every aspect of GTA IV, it scored slightly lower overall with the critics). For this reason, I think that, although several publications will still be giving GTA V 10's - the overall average will be lower than that of GTA IV IMO as it won't be as big of a leap that GTA IV was for its time.

 

I would expect the big publications such as IGN to be giving GTA V scores within the 9.5 range unless if something terribly goes wrong.

GTA IV is the the best rated game of all time on metacritic, i think its 98, and i think the only game that can top that is GTA V.

 

Im sick of the review scale that sites like Gamespot and IGN use:

1-6 = Horrible

7-9 = Great

10= (near)Perfect

Giving 10/10 means perfection.

 

IV was far far from perfection.

 

So if the price is right, V will probably get a 10 to. It already looks 10x better than IV and we really havnt seen anything yet.

Ok I understand no game is perfect but why other gaming site give GTAIV a perfect 10? Is it because the popularity of the game or the hype?

I'm sure Red Dead Redemption got full scores from some sources. OP is suggesting there is only one review source (probably referring to IGN?) which obviously is not true. If he's talking about Metacritic then he is wrong because GTA4 has a rating of 98/100 over there.

 

V is going to get great scores and if someone doesn't like it then their loss. I'm pretty sure I'll find plenty to like about GTAV.

Yes, I never questioned GTA4 getting full scores. Actually most of the scores were perfect, thus the insanely high metacritic average.

 

My point was that OP's question has an obvious answer. Of course at least some game site or magazine will give it a perfect score. But not everyone is going to give it 10/10 or 100/100 so getting a Metacritic score of 100 is pretty much next to impossible.

but yeah, IV didn't deserve 10/10, RDR who was better in every aspect got 9.5/10, it's f*cking unfair anyway, gaming sites know sh*t about games, and just as Zee said, those can be bribed aswell. The ones who rate the games are us

and like 9.5+ for user score - this will always suffer from trolls and/or fanboys but they may cancel each other out.

problem is the 10/10 for IGN does not mean perfect, which means they are painted into a corner here where they may have to give more 10/10 than they should and one 10/10 is better than another 10/10 because the better 10/10 actually is perfect, or close to it.

 

maybe they should say 10/10 and have an asterisk that means - better than a normal 10/10

Sorry, but V looks like it's gonna trample all over IV in every way. Every aspect is going to be improved on, the only thing that could possibly be worse is the story line, and i doubt that anyway.

 

more to the point, IV doesn't even deserve a f*cking 10, but then again every source has their way of rating games, i personally prefer the old the old way of using percentages.

The example in that thread was a bug, not evidence of a bribe (and it would be the most useless bribe ever to bump a review score from 9.5 to 10).

 

Protip: If you're trying to prove that reviews do not reflect what gamers think of a game, it's best not to link to a thread with gamers saying that they agree with the reviewer.

 

OT: As I've said before, no game deserves to be called perfect, and I don't really trust a rating out of 10 (or five, or whatever) for that reason. At best, rating just indicate how much the reviewer likes a game. Reading the review itself is the most useful thing for anyone wanting to buy a game.

If you read Jacked, they go into detail about how Rockstar are basically like the mafia with their reviewers, will bribe them and let them exclusively see early builds of GTA so long as they promise a glowing review and get pissed when they dont. It's quite common in the videogame industry.

Yes. GTA IV was a superb game IMHO and I really loved and enjoyed it. However, I too felt that it, however, did not deserve a 10, but a 9.3 or something of the sort.
