AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I started a new game and watched all the intro and right before CJ jumps on the bike, a message flashed up in the info box top left. It was very quick like 0.20 of a second but I managed to read something like RESPECT DEPLETED! Would this be something like a cheat or something that was activated? I wasn't touching any of the buttons either. Has anyone seen that happen before?
Space Cowboy
Never and I have been playing since 2005. Are you sure you aren't using any mods? Because this is so strange...

It's a clean Ps2 disc with no mods. Yeah it was strange. Never seen it before until now
MrMateczko
Probably a memory leftover from previous game. GTA games (III, VC, SA), don't erase all it's data from memory, when you'll start a new game, while running an existing one. Most notably thing is the road marks you've made. Unless you've started a new game freshly, i.e not from a running game, then it's weird.
Space Cowboy
Memory leftover..but still I can't recall seeing that anywhere in the game.. no matter how low my respect was it never said "respect depleted".
Deminu
Yeah, sounds like a memory leftover, once had something similar to that myself... What might have happened is, you were playing a saved game where you had more respect, and since GTA doesn't erase all its memory, part of it thought you were still in the saved game, so it went from however much respect you had before, to none at all, causing the RESPECT DEPLETED banner. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I think you must be right, I was playing a saved game where my respect meter was full then I switched subtitles to ON and started a new game. That's exactly what I did. Weird message though. Find new things with this game now and then. Edit: I checked my Respect level and it's at about 10% which is normal after 20 missions in so it wasn't a cheat code and there was no Cheat Activated message. Speaking of which, I'm assembling a small group so that we may uncover more secrets. Care to join me? GTASAddict
Do you have the fresh game index (save file started without memory card initially inserted) or restart game index? (new games started from an existing save)

(new games started from an existing save) No this was with the mem card inserted, I just did a new game start and when CJ appears in the lane way, when you get to take control, is when I saw the message appear. It was very quick, like 0.20 of a second
