MikeMyth
I'd love to take a look at those 250k photos Why? It simply shows you L.A, they did say its the only thing they are focusing on. Anyway, I love how much work R* puts into their games. I actually felt like I was in NY in GTA IV, in areas at least. Areas which you thought populations' would be hardly populated had plenty of people. The same amount of people walk around small neighborhoods as they did in Star Junction. Yep and imagine the different offices that worked on the game. I even bet, no I guarantee you R* Vancouver worked on this game, along with R* San Diego, etc, etc. Alot of people worked on V. S1LV3R_W0LF
I'm very curious too see the final game, I never been in LA, but I see a lot of it on TV series, I know it's not the same but I think it's the global idea everyone have about it and sounds interesting. But what I found most intriguing is that guy that said in the beginning and at the end again, the game will be out in March. I know it's not likely but that was intriguing, why didn't he just said "coming on Spring"?
JonRenemy
Don't get bogged down on the "march" thing. It's the usual speculation
LegitSpades
They go to Compton and East LA and ask all the gangstas and cholos how they would react they got flicked off by some random person across the street. They then incorporate it to their game.

Maybe because it's interesting to look at? Some people like me like to look at photos of what developers get their inspiration from.
Nameless Foot Soldier
Gta V is already looking so much closer to LA than IV ever came to capturing New York. I can definitely see then depth of research that has gone into creating the world.

kudoboi
Take Bohiemia Interactive, the creators of the ArmA series, went to Greece for their research for ArmA 3. They're even serving freaking JAIL TIME for taking pictures of military bases (which in case ArmA 3 is delayed for 2013 lol ) while i feel bad for them... id have to say ARMA 2 was the buggiest POS game ive ever played.. excluding hotline miami and war Z
InternetKillTV
I'd like to point out that this interview is basically a direct quote from Game informer, word for word. The section where they talk about how much research goes into the game in the art section of the mag.

Maybe because it's interesting to look at? Some people like me like to look at photos of what developers get their inspiration from. Exactly. At first, I thought he wrote, "I'd like to take those 250K photos," which implies that someone would send him to LA for a summer vacation where he could have the assignment to visit and photograph every interesting location and neighborhood in LA. That would be a nice summer job. But reading closer, "I'd love to take a look at those 250k photos," would be to get insight into what the Rockstar researchers / artists were planning to design, just like you say. You can learn something from looking at the pictures that people choose to take. More generally, as people have noted, one can do a virtual tour of LA (or anywhere else) using Google Street View, which is immersive and fun in itself. After Max Payne 3 came out, I used Google Street View to roam around some streets in suburban São Paulo. I was looking for the favelas, but I expect that maybe Google Street View couldn't pay people enough to go into those streets; I don't know, I never found them.
