So f*cking pumped for this game. It's looking fantastic.

It looks incredible but, going by traditional cyberpunk and the game's original teaser does it look a bit uh, bright to anyone else? I was expecting something a bit more dark and grungy but it looks like very bright and colourful. Visually stunning regardless, but it didn't look like I'd expect.

Mother of god

It looks like GTA 2077 and I'm not saying it's a bad thing.

Somebody found this when they paused. Not anything huge, but some tidbits.

I'm certain the game will have an amazing nighttime atmosphere as well. They just haven't packed it into this trailer.

Here's the secret message:

It's been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and... went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things - you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves, and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077's pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you've been (im)patiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn't want anyone to feel that we're taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too :).

But to the point. Today is the day. If you're seeing this, it means you saw the trailer - our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don't let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You'll be able to create your own character and..., well, you'll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for previews!

Before we finish, you probably have some questions, right?

When? When we told you we would only release the game when it's ready, we meant it. We're definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it's still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us - it's the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.

How big? Seriously big, but..., to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we'll do this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.

Free DLC/Expansions/DRM? Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM-free on PC.

Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?

Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.

Yours, CD PROJEKT RED Team

Speaking of Rockstar, watching the Cyberpunk trailer again, it is very Rockstar in the way it was done. Slow intro, "CD Projekt Red Presents" and then a voice over while the game shows scenery and NPC's just doing their thing in the world, mixed in with a little bit of light action. It's literally a carbon copy of most of Rockstar's first reveal trailers for their past few games.

Was any of that trailer actual in-game footage? Because unless it was, all we've been given is a very good cutscene. Hell, they didn't even give us a release date.

I think it was very Rockstar-esque trailer in that it's a mix of cut scenes and in-game footage with a freecam. There's a scene about 24-25 seconds into the trailer where in the bottom left you see NPC's vanish and I can't see that being something they'd let slip in a cutscene, but it could be something they miss taking open world footage.

We might see an eventual graphics downgrade tho like with the Witcher 3.

As expected. As soon as trailer gets released the first thing ppl bitch about are the graphics, and as always, never f*ckin' satisfied whatsoever.

I don't care about the graphics, the world itself looks so refreshingly different than the same, old urban open world environments the developers release these days.

Totally excited for this game now.

I fully agree, didn't mean to bitch. I was just saying that it might happen.

The trailer looks great but my only issue like many other people is the lighting. I didn't expect the game to be night time only or anything like that but I was expecting a darker atmosphere even during the day.

Now let's wait 3 more years for some gameplay.

So, is this still going to be an RPG, or is it just an action open world game now like GTA or Watch_Dogs? I'm not complaining, after watching the trailer, I'd prefer it be the latter, I don't see how they could implement a Witcher-like RPG element to it.

True, this looks exactly like a GTA trailer, and with the graphics style it could be straight from GTA V.

Is the narrator the main character? With this voice and character creation, it's a given it will be a huge stepdown from Geralt. I wonder in general if characters will be on Witcher level, since thesource material is different, and with the setting it could end up being a freakshow.

The Knight Rider looking car was very cool

Good grief, there's so much to unpack in that trailer - I'm going to be taking a microscope to every frame of that trailer for weeks...

Only thing that's a bit underwhelming is the slightly generic-looking protag-

*goes and reads some more specific info about the game, learns the came has custom player characters*

...never mind - grouchy 'I'm not getting any cybernetics because that sort of thing squicks me the f*** out' protagonist, here I come! :sly:

(I'll be proper miffed if they don't let us do that - it's such an obvious choice for backstory/appearance, with lots of potential for varied interactions, depending on the fundamental nature of your character)

What this has to do with GTA Trailer? It looks like how several trailers have been released in the past - giving us a glimpse of the game world. Just wait for the actual gameplay trailer, and several other details to come out, and then we shall see whether any Rockstar game can even come close to what CDPR has achieved. :D

Inside the Classic Tabletop RPG Behind 'Cyberpunk 2077'

I realized my mistake and edited the post. I meant a different kind of source material, ie a novel series with a specifix set of characters.

Trailer is looking good, but it's a shame there's still no actual gameplay.

Ooh, this is interesting - apparently there might well be a system a bit like the interpreters in Metal Gear Solid V:

Polygon - Cyberpunk 2077 characters may speak in multiple languages

The idea being that characters will speak multiple languages, and you won't be able to understand them if you don't already know that language (as in, in real life - a player who understands/speaks German might have an advantage if they encounter a German-speaking character, for example). However, you can buy a cybernetic translator implant - depending on the quality, the the translation might be more or less accurate.

Again, MGSV had a similar thing - you'd go into the field, find enemy soldiers speaking Russian without subtitles, and Snake wouldn't be able to talk to them to get info (or listen in to conversations) until he'd recruited an interpreter, at which point all their conversations would be subbed.
