f*ck, they're on track to beat R* as far as release datesgo. First trailer in 2012 and a 2020 release date.

I'm still hyped - even if the writing is cheese, and the game doesn't really push the boat beyond the average GTA clone crossed with the average BioWare-style RPG (with merely serviceable shooting on top), that's still reason to check it out, IMO. That bare-minimum level expectation still ticks a lot of boxes for me, so it'd really require something spectacularly awful to put me off.

As for the release date, it sounds like it might be an RDR2 situation (announced at E3 as coming later this year, only to get pushed back to 2020), although this year would be nice, obviously. For me, it's going to be competing for time with something either way - if it's at the end of 2019, I might still be on Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, but if it's more like March/April 2020, then Bloodlines 2 will probably be out by then, and that's another 'can't think of a reason not to give it a go' for me.

Swings and roundabouts, I guess - goodness knows what I'll do if that Squeenix Avengers thing comes out around the same time, too... :panic:

Cyberpunk was apparently originally scheduled for 2019 but they realised it was unrealistic. As of right now it looks like an early to mid 2020 release, which I'd be thrilled with considering I was never expecting it this year.

If TLOU 2's release is correct early next year is going to get off to an amazing start.

Unless there is solid new info, I stand by the prediction I made a year ago (page 15)--that C2077 will release at the end of 2020. That was based on the fact that a year ago they were "deep in development" and hadn't finished creating the world. There is a lot of production that can't commence until the world is created, and then after the game is structurally complete there are months and months of alpha testing, and then beta testing.

Don't worry. To paraphrase Depeche Mode:

Hype is very unnecessary,

It can only do harm.

The most amazing experiences I've had in books, movies, and games happened when I went in blind, with no expectations.

Very true actually. In a way it's probably a blessing in disguise I'm not going in overly hyped, even though I'm sure this game will be fantastic, as it just seems to be developed really well and with care.

CDP are masters at adapting material and there's enough CP lore to steer it well clear of being a clone. If I compare to anything, it's closer to Deus Ex as they've mentioned that as a major inspiration on multiple occasions. As for tone, it's not satire and will likely be fairly serious overall.

On E3: I just read that the hour long demo they're showing will not be uploaded to the internet. Big disappointment.

Well, that's just it - I hope it's closer to the original Deus Ex gameplay-wise, and nothing like the really pathetic 'everything is shades of grey, we're committed to being non-committal!' writing of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

And even if the game sticks absolutely 100% to the sourcebooks, you've still got kinda 'works as a pen-and-paper RPG mechanic, not so well as actual world-building' stuff like "cyber-psychosis", which doesn't really make much sense. If CDPR tweaked cyber-psychosis to be more a 'too many neural implants, and your brain gets hijacked by them, á la Doctor Octopus in the Raimi movies', then that works - but as is, it's just 'above a certain percentage of body modifications/prostheses (even just things like light-up tattoos!), you will inevitably start seeing regular humans as weak/inferior, and will most likely wind up going on a homicidal rampage', and that's just ...wut. Again, that's so players of the pen-and-paper games can't just stack up on augmentations willy-nilly, but in terms of world-building (or even compared to real-life prosthetics), it doesn't really make any sense, and has some iffy knock-on implications, too.

Also, some of the dialogue in the 2018 was pretty cheesy, in a 'this is what a 14-year-old thinks is badass' kind of way - but again, that's the kind of Total Recall-style cheese I still think fits with the setting/genre. I'd also agree with those folk who found Jackie's dialogue a bit cringe-inducing - it was very much 'clearly written in English, but then with the odd Spanish word clumsily swapped into English phrases and sayings, like someone just Ctrl-F'd parts of the script and called it a day'. Not a deal-breaker, but the sort of thing that would hold back my enjoyment of the writing/story, definitely.

...F*** ME SIDEWAYS! :panic:

Looks epic, April 16th release date (which is far enough to be realistic, near enough to not have my brain eat itself before then), and KEANU IS JOHNNY SILVERHAND:panic:

Stick a fork in me, folks - I'm done...

That's just it - it'd either have to be such an early-game plot beat as to be inconsequential, or (if the game is still structured with the 'multiple branching outcomes for every choice/action' design they suggested last year) quite possibly we're seeing just the 'you did a mission for Dex, but this is how things play out if you're sloppy' version.

After all, with the gameplay demo last year, it was apparently possible to steal the mech, steal the mech undetected, buy it amicably from Maelstrom, tell the gang about Militech but risk reprisals from Militech in the process, bypass Militech entirely and never even meet with Stout, or a bunch of other things, with no option leading to an outright dead end.

Granted, they could have dialed that back during development, because that's potentially unwieldy (or just results in shorter playthroughs with more variations, rather than a 60+ hour game that's 99% the same, regardless of choices), but if they did stick to that, in a decidedly original Deus Ex way, then ...hot dang.

April 16th can't come soon enough - or at least, enough time for me to finish Mafia III, make sufficient progress with MHW: Iceborne, mop up the next Forza Horizon expansion, max out my rank unlocks in RDO, and fit in all those boring things like eating/sleeping/working somewhere, too... :facedesk:

very true. Was the same thing with WItcher 3. I'd played some Witcher 2 and couldn't get into it, so I wasn't that enthusiastic originally. But when release came it looked really good, so I gave it a try and was completely blown away.

Too bad that can't happen with Cybepunk. I fear even if it turns out amazing, it won't hook me as much as Witcher due to the setting.

Well for those interested there is some more gameplay being shown behind the scenes so expect more information soon. I wonder what has changed from last year

My mind was blown watching Cyberpunk. It looks even more detailed and just gorgeous.

That first image of the cityscape at the start. Wow.

I think Cyberpunk will be delayed and will come out around the same time the new consoles do.

I said this for RDR2 and didn't happen but I'm getting the new console and TV upgrade to really maximize my next gen experience. I should be able to afford it this time round.

I never got into the Witcher series but I did see the talent and passion in CDPR. That's why I always hoped they eventually do another franchise and here we are.

CP2077 was the only game in that conference that increased my blood pressure. We're in a day and age that we pretty much have 1-2 games like this every year. Last year it was RDR2/GOW. Next year is CP2077. I'm thinking this game will be revolutionary in terms of choices that actually f*cking matter. Very hyped and I'm glad it's coming 2020. I wasn't ready for a 2019 release. Btw I liked the writing a lot better in this trailer.

Keanu Reeves. Reminds me of old R* who used famous celebs for their games.

Yeah - I reckon they'll do similar to last year, and show another 'vertical slice', using the same section as what they'll be showing privately at E3.

I.e., at E3, it'll be someone from CDPR demonstrating the game hands-on - and then they'll quite likely put up a curated, narrated version of it for public consumption a while later.

Wonder if they'll show more details like character customisation/outfits, vehicles, and that sort of thing - anything would be good, but I can't wait to see what players will be able to do to personalise their experience.

I was looking forward to this game, now I'm basically sold. Loved that footage. Love the direction they're taking, I just love the setting & atmosphere of this game. Just need to see some more raw gameplay, and open world stuff for sure.

You can't go wrong with Keanu Reeves either.

This looks way up my alley compared to something like Witcher. The world is absolutely stunning and I dig the Cyberunk genre, loved Deus Ex.

IIRC they're doing another gameplay demo to the press this E3 so hoooooooooopefully they'll put that out on the net like they did with the last demo.

Best Buy pre-orders come with a free steelbook - and it looks like they got noted cyberpunk artist Josan Gonzalez to do the covers:

That's Maelstrom gang leader Royce in the first pic - so I'm guessing the other two are also prominent characters/contacts (possible faction leaders, even?).

Welp.....I haven't been proven wrong quite yet, but.....I can admit that this took me completely by surprise. I feel a little silly after having just re-confirmed my original prediction.

Wow. I really did not think the release date would be set that early. I'm pleased, but at the same time, I have no problem--especially with CD Projekt RED--letting a game take as long as it needs. So if it really is ready in ten months, bring it on!

Of course your PC will be able to run it, a 1080 is still one of the better cards, CDPR would be shutting out a large chunk of customers if a 1080 couldn't run the game, they can't let that happen.

Now with my 770 I can forget about running the game😆
