Can't help but think CDPR is a complete and utter mess.

Feels like the success and acclaim of TW3 made them think they can do anything and they simply couldn't.

Remember when people described CDPR as "the new BioWare"? This monkey's paw I bought from Pepperidge Farm sure does... :p

Yeah. In many ways they've been better. If I had to choose between Anthem and Cyberpunk, easy decision. Or Andromeda and Cyberpunk. Still easy. Last good game BioWare made was Mass Effect 3. That was a long time ago.

I like the idea @Ivan1997GTA - 'CyboCop', maybe? Or something like that, vigilante-style. Perhaps billboards like the one I captured below are hints at what may be to come?

YoMji4n.png

Or maybe future DLC will allow us to leave Earth and finally visit The Crystal Palace? (Admittedly, I doubt it.)

Yeah, I sense that CP2077 has been deprioritised as a kind of 'Plan B' (or lower). I wonder, will players consider it better late than never or another underwhelming deliverable?

I really like your screenshots @Tycek, but screenshots like that make me think (as a relatively new-comer to CP2077) that it still has - and may always have - a lot of unfulfilled potential. Even with their latest v1.52 update, I think that it is largely mods which have made CP2077 enjoyable and replayable for me; the base game is still under-developed. CDPR has arguably added many bugs fixes and quality of life updates, but those features should have been an inherent part of their original release; I think that it is actually the modders who have really added the gameplay improvements and the new content.

Just two more shots showing Night City's 'moody' atmosphere, plus that DT & R barge doing its thing above:

It's totally weird they use Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher: A New Saga. Why they abandon their own REDengine?

I mean sure UE5 is great and all but it's weird. Also the new Tomb Raider will use UE5 too. Many studios are using UE5 for their next games.

Im wondering when the first real Cyberpunk DLC is released, they say in 2023 but when, spring, summer, autumn or winter. Well hopefully that DLC won't be a buggy mess like the base game after release. And by then the RTX 40xx series is released, so ppl can really enjoy the game, how it should be.

Thanks, I like Yours too. I also absolutely agree with everything You wrote. There is many unfulfilled potential in the game and I think CDPR spread themselves too thin while making this game. But I also think that isn't problem of CD Projekt alone, but other companies as well, where CEO is sitting so high up on the ladder, he can't see the floor anymore. You may have the best programmers in the world, but if You have unreal ideas, even they won't help You.

And if we're talking about mods I am not sure if I could enjoyed modded game. I guess I got some kind of mental blockade regarding mods, which were made by third parties.  I respect modding communities, which keep games alive for years and their work which is very often much better than stuff made by original devs, but it always creates some jarring experience with the vision of the original creator. The only mod for RPG game I really enjoyed was Fallout 2 Restoration Project and I guess it comes from a fact that it was based on content designed by Black Isle, but cut due to time constrains. I am sure that mods made CP77 much better and maybe one day I will give some of them a chance, but for now I'll stick to this slack-baked cake CDPR made.

You probably can call me naive, but I hope that CD Projekt one day will deliver the version they had originally in mind. As they as if You can't have what You love, You better love what You have. So far I clocked over 600 hours during my three playthroughs, completing the game with various builds. If it wasn't for third one I wouldn't find out how enjoyable combination of sandevistan and katana can be. When You slow down time, jump in the group of enemies, slice their heads and limbs off to finally turn on optical camo and disappear before getting shot.

Some may call it cope, some may call it madness, but the game truly put some spell on me and I am squeezing as much pleasure as I can out of it.

Few screens (still have a lot of them).

The games is -50% off tell May 2nd at steam ,  was tempted to buy it again,  but decided to wait for the steam summer sale or winter sale and  a -65% off or better  deal by then

I wonder if that's a hint that maybe we will see more of Arasakas in the DLC, especially Michiko (Kei's daugher and Yori and Hanako's niece)? Or maybe that's just red herring to throw us off?

Some information about new DLC:
https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/dialogue-from-cyberpunks-first-expansion-appears-to-have-leaked-outlining-the-main-quest/

DLC will very likely feature Songbird (female netrunner with asian heritage) and take place around Combat Zone (Pacifica) and Sports Dome (Night City Stadium also in Pacifica).

So it's set in a place I really wanted to explore, which is great, but it's set before the games ending, which is another reason why I hate games with points of no return endings. Not to mention it also means it's more stuff V is doing when they should be, you know, trying not to die, which was one of the games criticisms, the urgency the story portrayed was at odds with the side stuff.

The Combat Zone sounds interesting. Wonder if they'll introduce us to new gangs? Was reading up on 2020's lore & they had the Steel Slaughter Slammers, that operated out of a club within the combat zone.

I hope it's pure carnage going in there, killing the likes of psychos and sh*t lol.

There's also NPC's in Pacifica talking about it:

Oh, gawd, don't get me started... 😡 I'm actually part-way through a comprehensive playthrough, and the DLC news genuinely makes me wonder if I should pause for now (or at the very least, be very careful about which save files I hang on to), lest I get too far into stuff that'll clash with the expansion content (because right now, there's no telling how far back any of it will start), or even get to a point of no return and lock myself out.

And yeah, there's the issue of it just feeling trivial - it's already arguable that the 'V is on borrowed time' angle would have been better suited to a version of the game more like Mafia II, with fewer side distractions to dilute the urgency of the main plot. Otherwise, this could wind up like Mafia III, where Lincoln can take time out from his vendetta to just ...hop on over to another country to re-enact bits from Broken Arrow, like it's no bother at all. :turn: IMO, I think the better move (if maybe a controversial one) would have been to go for a spin-off story for the DLC, where you play as a new character, and then have some unlockable things and new items for V as part of the DLC package. Bit moot at this point, obviously. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, I've heard that's gotta be the only story expansion. It's a damn shame. I wish they could've at least made one more, and one involving a different protagonist instead of V again.

Yeah the wording slipped out in the original current-gen version announcement where they started saying "expansion" instead of "expansions", it looks like they really severely struggled with the game's development which is a huge shame, and seem to be keen on moving on to Witcher 4 on Unreal or whatever else they're doing.

As for the DLC leak, I'm excited about the fact that it's gonna be in the Combat Zone, I've always wanted to explore it, it's just there looking at you and teasing you  Kinda shocked it's set before the game's ending though but I also kind of expected it considering one of the endings and a possibility in the "secret" ending. From the VGC report it sounds kinda odd.

I have the game with the patch and the files are being taken down (obviously), should probably try and find them for my own perusal before they patch it out, I'm curious. :sadkek:

I've been hard at work making radio station mods for this game! I made a 90s/00s hip hop station an and 80s station. Sucks I can't share them on the Nexus.

Funny you should say that, because there's now a mod that allows you to add extra radio stations without replacing the old ones (though it's only applied to vehicles, so far), called RadioExt.

For me it's the lack of basic car customization, I just want to repaint my car because I don't like the color that I'm stuck with. It really bothers me that such a basic feature was left out. I probably said this already, but I can customize my character's privates, but I can't customize my car. Like what the f*ck CDPR, I see and use my car much more than I see my character without pants on, which is never. And why is this a thing in a first person game anyway? This frustrates me on so many levels.

Too much to ask for something like AC Odyssey's system? That one was great, because you had the straightforward approach to transmog unlocks (picking up an item grants you the cosmetic option for it), but also, everything had a level unlock - so if RNG was screwing you over and a certain item or colourway never dropped for you, you'd still unlock the transmog option through regular progression in due time.

1) Never a fan when devs sorta tease these types of additions post-launch when honestly they should be pretty much standard in games where your cosmetic appearance is tied to loot.

2) I really hope they didn't game-ify it like some games do and I hope we don't have to pay eurodollars for it either. Just make it so if we pick something up we get the transmog for it and allow us to switch up how we look on the fly.

1. Yep - granted, at this point with Cyberpunk, that ship has sailed (same with something as basic as being able to repaint vehicles* in an open-world game), and there's just reams of stuff that might well have been on the cards as part of base game, but got cut for time as a result of project mismanagement. But the point still stands.

2. Oh gawd, you've tempted fate just by saying that, haven't you? 😬  Transmog costing resources is fine and logical enough in a "live-service" thing (as a money sink, if nothing else), but opportunities to make worthwhile money in 2077 are finite - it's bad enough they added pricey new cars and properties without any additional means of finding the cash for 'em. Maybe the fact that changing appearance is a free thing you do in bathrooms (and not a ripperdoc or barbershop feature costing eddies) suggests that they'll do similar for clothing transmog, at least. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*goodness, imagine how nice it'd be to have even just some paintjob swaps or bodywork variants for some vehicles...

The game didn't fail. If you look for bugs in games you always find some. If you play a game how you should, you barely find bugs.

Sure at release the game was a bugfest, but now it's better than most other AAA games already.

It only "failed" on last gen consoles, not on PC.

Why last gen console owners thought their crappy old hardware would be able to play this game in the first place is a puzzle to me.

The game works fine on PS5, X-Box Series X&S and PC now. f*ck 8 year old Playstation 4's and X-Box One's. If games don't work right on them, it's a hardware issue not a software issue.

With a 2014 PC the game might have been playable compared to 2014 consoles. PC top notch hardware was i7 5th generation and Nvidia GTX 980TI back then, im pretty sure that combo could still do 50-60 FPS.

See even with 8 year old PC hardware the game is playable.

And it works perfectly fine on PS5.

I genuinely think once you get past the misleading advertising and technical issues there's a great game in Cyberpunk, but where as TW3 was so successful it's influence on open world game design is still felt today, Cyberpunk's only lasting influence has been that it's made developers and publishers terrified of launching a buggy game. I have no doubt that a whole bunch of the delays we've seen over the past year and a half are a direct result of Cyberpunk's (and BF2042's) launch.

It was meant to be CDPR's next big world, they openly discussed two expansions, were in the early stages of an online spin-off/mode... but now it looks like we're getting no online spin-off and only one expansion.

It sold well and they've got it into a good state on PC and new-gen consoles but CDPR are obviously gearing up to move straight onto TW4 the moment they're done with the expansion.
