Mister Pink

I took a wee break from this game to play a little bit of Elden Ring. But I think I'll hop back on.

I love how most of the mission titles are based on song titles.

Some  I completed recently are Life During Wartime (Talking Heads) , Ghost Town (The Specials), I Walk The Line (Johnny Cash) Whoever named the missions must have been an Iggy Pop & The Stooges fan because three of missions are names of their  tracks; Gimme Danger, Down On The Street, and Search And Destroy. I think also I recall a side gig names Riders On The Storm (The Doors).

I just looked up the mission list (haven't finished Cyberpunk) Of course the final mission is named after one of my favourite Chopin nocturnes.

The tattoos Judy has are lyrics of songs. And also foreshadowing & then obviously there's that mission title of hers...mad lads and lasses at CDPR for doing this. :yee:

A modder did what CDPR couldn't or wouldn't do. Gonna try that out tomorrow. It's only perfomance upgrades not visual upgrades. But better than nothing.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure about 90% of the missions are based on real life songs.

I finished up act 1, so the city opens up again and more features get unlocked. This time I made sure I looted Yorinobu's penthouse to get his clothes, his gun, the sword and the iguana egg. I discovered you can also customize V's apartment now, so I gave it a fresh paint job. I'm thinking of getting the new safehouse in Japantown, but I want to have a bit more eddies first. I was planning on getting the MaiMai as soon as possible, but Wakako hasn't offered it to me yet. Seeing as your starter car gets wrecked at the start of act 2, I don't have any vehicles at the moment, so I'm going to get Jackie's bike first.

The build of pistols and throwing knives continues to work well on hard difficulty. I'm going to focus on crafting for now to unlock the Grease Monkey perk. Only need one more attribute point.

Few pictures from my third playthrough. I've found quite an entertainment in walking around and making portraits of people (though all these are from Night City AD 2013). Alt and Rogue are quite a lookers, but to be honest CDPR nailed the appearance and character of all women depicted in the game.

This is so much more fun now that it's polished up. I'm continually amazed at the scope and detail of the city. Shame the open world activities are copy and paste but just walking around and admiring the different aspects of architecture and culture never gets old. There are so many different places V can reach, especially with the boosted jump.

I've been hard at work making radio station mods for this game! I made a 90s/00s hip hop station an and 80s station. Sucks I can't share them on the Nexus.

today im gonna start the last part of the main missions, the endgame, i had so much fun after 150hours, cyberpunk got way too much hate for its bugs etc (i literally had only 1 gamebreaking bug in 150hours, i was able to fix it by simple reloading my last save)

so all i can say is: play this game, as a true gamer you wont regret it, its easily one of the best games i played in recent 10years

I agree with you and most of the posters in this thread that overall, CP2077 has been more positive than negative experience for me. I have had some game-breaking bugs, but like you said, for me the simple but somewhat inconvenient fix was to reload the game. I also run a highly-modded v1.52, so overall I am pleased with my fps (>60fps at 1080p, normally running 70-90fps, except for occasional drops to 45-50fps when driving at high speeds and panning). For what it's worth, I run most settings at medium or high, a few settings at ultra, and without ray-tracing (W10 64b, 1TB SSD, 32GB DDR3 RAM, Intel i7-4790K at base clock 4.5GHz, and an 8GB AMD RX 6600 XT also not overclocked).

Before I post some screenshots, I will just comment that the update process through GOG's offline installer is atrocious. Downloading and installing 1.31 around October 2021 was easy; long download times, but as expected and easy to install. But to upgrade, not only did I have to apply each patch sequentially (e.g., no patching v1.31->v1.52), but the installer/upgrader was botched, so I had to manually upgrade another fresh install on an external HD where I had >500GB free space). Also, the installer 'locked in' the install/upgrade path - once I started the upgrade on my external HD, I had to keep using that install. It would not let me move it to my SSD/PC then upgrade it there, so the upgrade literally took a whole day to go from v1.31->v1.50 hotfix 1 etc.->v1.52.

For what it's worth, I refuse to use GOG's client version because I prefer to run any software/flight simulator/game as lean as possible (no other programs in the background), and on principle I refuse to delete my current install then to redownload it via their client just because they botched the update. No joke, here is my proof that I needed to clear significant amounts of space on an external HD just to update it. Next time I get the time to upgrade my PC, I will buy a minimum 2TB hard drive, but it is frankly outrageous that I had to clear so much space just to update it. I know that I rarely have time for PC gaming, but to me this is totally inefficient and botched. Did anybody else have this problem upgrading? I read literally hundreds of posts across forums, but GOG appear to have the gall to ignore the issue. First-world problem I guess, and fortunately subsequent upgrades required <300MB each time.

Anyway, the positive part:

Genuinely, I really like the concept, the graphics, the frame rates (which I think on my rig are respectable), the sounds, the music variety and genre, the gritty-but-detailed atmosphere in Night City and the Badlands, the overall 'vibe' of being in a dystopian future with some interesting (and sometimes amusing) parallels with - or deviations from - 21st Century life as we know it. I also like the writing; so far I have just tried side missions, quests, gigs, and a few of the main storyline missions, but that is so I can get used to the somewhat-overwhelming choices and controls (I'm not a regular PC gamer), and as I just don't really have much time.

I have had some bugs, only one game-breaking but easily fixed by reloading my save game, and a few CTDs but I run about 15 mods so there are bound to be some bugs to iron out. I understand why so many people felt disappointed on release; I think that it was only enjoyable for me playing v1.31 late last year as I could add mods that I liked, so I am really grateful to the modding community. And to you guys actually, 'cause you actually convinced me to give it a try. I hope that CDPR continue to fix bugs and add genuine, content-rich DLC.

So finally, here are some screenshots from when I took the plunge into CP2077 around October last year (v1.31, before the game went on sale, but I still got it at a very reasonable price; only two potentially small spoilers hidden):

My first foray into the Badlands and Night City:

The first time I stepped out into Watson, I actually felt genuinely amazed. It really looked and sounded impressive; I think that the attention to detail is incredible, and although some NPCs appear to wander aimlessly, I think that CDPR have made it feel plausible:

Even the bad weather looks good:

The city really feels moody and atmospheric. I have not even posted any screenshots from the photo mode (yet, haha!), maybe I just don't game enough but everywhere I look I find really interesting details that I still find stunning - it's actually passable as a really good walking simulator (not being sarcastic when I write that):

I really hope that I have not gone over-board, but I squeeze in one final picture:

Spoiler

When Misty read my palms. The character's personalities and appearances seem so believable to me. I think that this is definitely one of CDPR's strengths with CP2077:

I'm replaying this game since it came out at launch. Honestly, I'm still not impressed. I'm way more happy with the game since it finally had a ton of updates etc. But I still can't get over the feeling that the city is dead. I've got max population on, but there's still not that many NCP's or cars going about their daily business. I also still can't stand the fact traffic will randomly stop and not continue to drive? But I'll still be giving it my time to replay and hopefully not end up with the same ending as before.

The number of cars and pedestrians/NPC's is not the problem, the bad AI is, they still mostly act the same, like before 1.5. Sure sometimes traffic freaks out, and some pedestrians shoot at you if they are in panic. But it still doesn't feel right, it's still lifeless. And the combat AI still is pretty bad.

I miss the random phone conversations, and npc's talking to each other in Cyberpunk, and in general more "life" to it. Playing GTA IV or V or RDR2 Singleplayer feels much more immersive, compared to CP. I think there are much less lines spoken by NPC's because the game has many more languages than GTA. I mean in GTA it's always only english, in CP it's 10 languages i think.

Ususally i play games in the original language, but the german voice acting in CP is very very good compared to other games, i mean even Silverhand's voice is spoken by the voice actor that usually speaks Keanu Reeves voice. It has it's good and bad sides having so many languages available in games.

I see your point @Rebel, sometimes Night City can feel slightly empty. I think that it has its charm, as in @Tycek's first screenshot above (I think that CDPR actually make good use of negative space, or the 'nothingness' of sometimes dark, empty streets). But yes sometimes I find the AI a bit bizarre, like pedestrians opening fire when a car backfires or something similar, you know. You could see it as part of Night City's crazy, dystopian setting, or as a bug.

By the way, random question: What is that large flying floatilla/barge in @Tycek's 2nd and 5th screenshots? All I know so far is that DT & R are involved in waste management. And why does it have searchlights? Is the barge used to search for reprobates like Der London Monitor in Wolfenstein? I think that it would be interesting if DLC missions would take place there so we could get inside, and find out what really happens up there.

DT&R ("Decker, Tanaka & Rogers") is a shipping company in the Cyberpunk universe. Maersk meets FedEx/UPS or something like that.

Yup on PC. Maybe I've just always missed out on times of the day maybe? I tend to also walk about as much as possible but still haven't noticed much in the way of traffic jams until a car randomly holds up the traffic.

Still a way better improvement from the launch. I think my problem is they promised a ton and just didn't deliver on time - or still haven't 100%, hopefully it goes the same way No Mans Sky did and becomes a different beast.

Cyberpunk's ped AI just isn't good. It's a game where if you play it to it's strengths it's a great game, but if you play it hoping it's a GTA style world in terms of AI and interactivity you're just not gonna enjoy it at all.

They implied or said a lot of things pre-release about these aspects of the game so criticism of them is justified but yea, the actual game just isn't that type of game.

It's why I was personally wanting them to not bother improving those aspects of the game post-launch, especially with things like police. The game we got doesn't in anyway encourage, reward or point you into the direction of those systems so I'd much rather them focus on the stuff it does point you to that's good and develop more on that. Better loot, better customisation, better (and working) skills etc.

What we shouldn't forget is that Cyberpunk is a dystopian world. Despite its colorful and kitschy appearance it's quite dark in its character. It's a world where fourth corporate war, which still echoes in the air, brought humanity to its knees. With cities like Busan or Rio De Janeiro completely eradicated and NUSA being separated into smaller entities, the emptiness of the world adds a bit to its character. Sure, You may call it misinterpretation and a way to explain myself why the streets are so empty sometimes, but it's quite logic imo. Rich people became richer, some can even live infinitely (like Arasakas - Yorinobu is 82 and Saburo 158 years old during the game) or slower the aging processes (like Kerry or Rogue), while the poor ones die in the gutter. Rich people don't roam the streets, only the poor ones do. Just look how many homeless people You can find in the NC. Facts that CHOOH2 is quite expensive and cars are quite old in the game (V's first car Hella was made between 2023 and 2038, meaning that at best it's 39 years old), add a bit to the explanation.

Truth is since game is very player centric, many information regarding state of the world may not convey successfully to the audience, but if You read the shards You can find everywhere, it shows that Cyberpunk flashy appearance is just a mask, covering world where human life doesn't mean crap.

And to make it more clear I'm not looking for excuses, because CP77 AI and traffic logic is quite mediocre in comparison to other open world games. Traffic spawner can also act very strangely at times. But there are periods of time during the day You can really see congestion, especially around City Center or Rancho Coronado highways. Sometimes traffic was so heavy it was hard to pass them and I'm playing on Xbox One X.

During fourth corporate war that took place between 2021 and 2025 two aquatic corporation OTEC and CINO asked Militech and Arasaka respectively to help to defeat competition. Both Atlantic and Pacific oceans were mined, which blocked almost whole transport across oceans. As of 2077 both oceans are still impossible to cross safely, not only to mines, but also to various group of pirates. What You see on these pictures are basically cargo vessels used by DT&R corp to transport various containers across the globe.

I like to observe them sometimes, how these flying giant barges majestically cross the skies above NC.

Mister Pink

Some Cyberpunk update that gives me more hope.

"We're still improving the game, because we are all aware that there is work to be done", Sasko said in response to a question in the chat (thanks, Reddit via TheGamer).

"We're very happy you guys liked 1.5, and that gives us more [...] incentive to work for you guys because you show your appreciation for it."

That was all Sasko was willing to give away at this point, though.

"That's as much as I can tell you. We are working on stuff for you. Like, I'm literally daily reviewing quests, talking to people about stuff, so it is happening.

"I cannot tell you anything about our future plans," Sasko reiterated. "But I can assure you that we are working on expansions - we're working on stuff for you guys."

CD Projekt Red is "still improving" Cyberpunk 2077 | Eurogamer.net

As for the earlier conversation, I agree with @Tycek and @GiveMeLiberty78 when they say there is more positive than good. Even the use of negative space is done well. I complained about the emptiness but the 1.5 patch improved it, also playing on my 4K TV is nice. The world is so beautifully designed, I don't need that same NPC interactivity or police chase activity that GTA has because there seems to be enough enemies in the world and side-missions to have that kind of fun, using some stealth, hacking, and guns blazing. Plus, after GTA V's lackluster ped interactivity, I've kind of outgrown the rampage fun and not messing around. I much rather be working to goals to earn cash, buy things and progress and explore. Reading shards and exploring is fun and there's a lots of detail to learn about the world.

In a sense I'm getting my fix of imagining what Deus Ex would be like if made more open-world. The newness of C77 means visually it's not really competing in the same space as other games. There's nothing like it but some mixing the option of going stealth on some missions but having fun gun play is a blast.

if you go to the busy areas around the red light district, there are fascinating conversations to be heard. The traffic AI and police system might be weak. The population density might be weak but there are huge amount of details to be discovered that make the city more living/breathing - just not in the exact way that Rockstar is normally very good at.

@RebelAnd welcome back Rebel, long time no see. I did have your same thoughts on the game but after knowing what it's like and starting over, after 1.5 patch, I learned to love the game in a greater way than ever before. Like @Jason says, when you play to the game's strengths, it's a great game.

I remember when on foot being actually impressed by how dense the streets were with cars and peds, especially in the city center region of the map. When driving it can become quite bare which is a problem all these open world games have in my experience, probably a result of it being partly intentional (to not make driving a chore) and probably partly technical limitations.

This was pre 1.5 as I haven't been there with the patch but, and it was on PC with max ped density and all that. Problem for me was never the density of the peds/traffic, it was always the robotic nature of them. Same animations, same pathing for both peds and vehicles, same braking zones, etc etc. Walking say through a busy highstreet in Cyberpunk is a fairly uninteresting experience on it's own, there's not really anything to see or hear, but do the same in GTA V or IV and you'll see a wide variety of peds, different walking styles, different personalities, various voice lines, etc.

GTA IV was absolutely stunning in the matter of imitating real life world and I don't think there is anything that topped that yet (and probably won't be). GTA V on the other hand...

"You don't need me to tell you that it's all fugazi. Faker than a pair of Vinewood tits." Maybe it's better in this matter than CP77, maybe it's not, but truth is GTA V was extremely annoying to me with its Truman Show world, with the same cougar running the same path every hour. While I can cut CDPR some slack, as CP77 is their second open world game and first one in such setting, Rockstar should be ashamed after GTA V.

@_P136_ Great find, thanks! I actually bought the CP2077 definitive guide ("The World of..." book), so either I missed that part or I haven't got to that part yet. I'll check out the Wiki too, it's full of lore and other cool facts.

I agree @Jason, I neither wanted nor expected a GTA-style game from CP2077. (Overall, I thought that GTA 5 was disappointing - again, no single-player DLC despite the earlier intention to create it. And as you say @Tycek, yeah I think that GTA 4 felt more 'lived in', and I think that CP2077's 'feel' or 'vibe' is closer to 4 than 5. I think that it's a good thing.)

Speaking of history lessons, wow you guys know your stuff / all things CP2077! I think that your explanation @Tycek makes sense. Now I think about it, empty streets do make logical sense. I think that the empty space/lack of AI sometimes really enhances that dark, gritty 'vibe' in Night City; it feels dangerous. Oh and yeah, I enjoy reading those shards - they offer really interesting snippets into life in Night City and the Badlands, a bit like small history lessons. Sometimes they're funny in a dark humor kind of way. If I get the time to get into something like CP2077, I am a 'completionist' - I like to collect and to try to know everything.

Oh, and about that DT & R barge: Yeah I remember reading in the CP2077 "World of..." book that when the roads became grid-locked and the seas became impassable, the wealthy and the corporates turned to the skies. Again, that makes sense thanks. I just wonder, why those spotlights on those barges?

I'm going back to v1.52 to really get into it, to see what's new. Glad to read some balanced, constructive criticism above about CP2077 above. I hope that future updates and DLCs makes the game reach its full potential.

Just checked: it's on page 120, at least in the version I have (English).

You know what I'd like to see in terms of story expansions for Cyberpunk 2077? A separate story mode where you play as a cop.

We all know how "effective" the police are in the main campaign with V, but what if you were put in the shoes of one of the few honest NCPD officers, working among dozens of corrupt cops and solving various cases, ranging from theft to murder (a bit like L.A. Noire in a cyberpunk setting), along with dealing with other crimes in NCPD scanner hustles? Think of it like River Ward's quest, except extended to a mini-campaign, lasting around 10-20 hours.

Your dream may become reality.

"CD Projekt has revealed that an upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion will include a new storyline."
Of course it doesn't say much, but CDPR developer pretty much confirmed that V's story is complete and we may see something new in upcoming DLC. To be honest I am not surprised, since original story is practically told from the beginning to the end. I wonder whether they will focus more on gangs and cops, showing us different faces on NC (like R* did with GTA IV) or on Morgan Blackhand, who is one of the original CP characters mentioned, but not included in the game.
