I found that I acquired a lot of contacts in-game really quickly and couldn't figure out where they came from. Next thing you know, I'm getting calls and messages off people and I'm like "wait, who tf are you, again?" lol

That's an interesting argument, but also the one I cannot argue with. Indeed the phone is clustered with contacts like Nix, Bob Sagan, Ozob Bozo or 8ug8ear, whose numbers are completely unnecessary and should be deleted after completing their tasks. Was there other open world featuring phone, which would delete phone numbers except GTA IV? I recall that even in GTA V phone was clustered with various numbers You didn't have reason to call.

And about the game itself, maybe I am the last one and a bit naive, but I am still waiting for 1.4 patch and promised DLCs. I clocked over 370 hours in my two playthroughs and I will definitely do another one very soon (just playing other games in the meantime). This time I'll opt for corpo woman with Sandevistan cybernetic, who is cutting her enemies with katana (I haven't tried blades build yet) and taking Arasaka side.

Few screenshots (my last ones from Xbox One).

So giving the Night City one last nod and a wink, he set off beyond the Badlands to begin again (kudos, if You what this is refering to).

Yeah, it's not the worst thing to complain about. I just have a habit of leaving big gaps between gaming sessions and forget some details. I hope for my second playthrough that i'll have more of a consistent run with less gaps of time between gaming sessions.

And 370hrs? Nice.. you really got great value from the game.

That's true. Somehow, which is quite surprising even for me, the game struck the right chords and I didn't even know much about Cyberpunk RPG before that. I was, however, always a fan of cybernetics, cyberpunk as a genre, transhumanism and similar topics, so maybe that is one of the reasons?

Yeah me too. Thing about the cyberpunk genre I really only got into it mildly around the time of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. If you haven't played it, I would highly recommend it. It tackles subjects of transhumanism and the ethics of humans becoming augmented. It's very near future topics and even current with the ethics of AI and the kind of conversations we will be having in the not-to-distant-future.

Since that game I was craving an open-world cyberpunk game. It's not great but I hope this can be a series like GTA. I would love to see a Cyberpunk 2088 game set in a very vertical New York. A mix of old art-deco buildings and interiors with future-neon.

I love Deus Ex since the first part, although back in 2000s I prefered System Shock series. With the soft reboot of Human Revolution i ignited my love to Deus Ex again and I had put many hours into that game. I haven't play Mankind Divided yet, despite buying it some time ago, as Square Enix's decision of putting the series on hold, left my heartbroken. I really hope they will make third part of the series one day and allow us to learn the end of Adam Jensen's storyline. We really need more cyberpunk genre games and Deus Ex could really become one of the prominent series.

I also hope that CDP won't leave Cyberpunk 2077 too soon, and one day we will be able to play sequel (or maybe prequel) to their recent title.

Ah.. OK.. cool. I actually never played the original, only went on what my friend used to tell me about it before I really got into gaming properly. Yeah, I was heartbroken too when they put it on hold. If you have Mankind Divided, I'd give it a go. I know it had it's critcisms about the story ending abruptly or too quickly but I didn't get that, really. I like to explore, listen to all the NPC dialogue, so all the side-missions etc. Throw in a gap of playing  - just taking a break -  and it there's a decent time to be played.  It had all that HR has and more. Playing in Prague is really interesting too. It's really nice to play in a European country for a change.

Yeah, would be great in CDPR go back to The Witcher and come back to Cyberpunk with fresh eyes and build on what they've created. I mean, the city is phenomenal, voice-acting, art-direction - they have it all there - just spend more time on it. Again, I can imagine them moving to another city reimagining their original vision and learning from it and making something great.

Honestly I'd be fine with a Cyberpunk 2 set in the same Night City. Usually I'm iffy on it, but in theory it could mean they could spend a really good amount of time really fleshing the city out.

It would be a great shame if they abanonded the series after 2077 though for sure. There's a lot of potential there, and there's a lot of things to enjoy in Cyberpunk 2077, so with improved tech and lessons learned I'd be down for seeing what they could do with a second go.

If there's going to be a second cyberpunk game, we could have a cyberpunk 2077 prequel :yee: Cyberpunk 1994: The Gang of Four or Cyberpunk 2003: Central America.

The character for Cyberpunk 2003 would be none other than Johnny Silverhand as a war vet.

A cyberpunk game based on world events referenced in cyberpunk 2020 would be very interesting.

I guess I'll start my next playthrough soon in that case. I wanted to start on 1.4, but I cannot wait that long. I wonder what is happening in CDP right now? Maybe they want to make bigger patch with more DLCs than recently, since the previous content wasn't appreciated very much?

Next update is next year?

:harrumph:

Hope it's like I mentioned a while back, a big big update aimed at getting the game closer to it's vision, more so than simply bug fixes, which are needed but yea, CDPR need to do more than just that.

I have a feeling the next-gen versions are gonna be kind of a soft re-launch, with much bigger improvements to the game. They would basically stop releasing patches tailored for the current versions only, while they focus on the next-gen versions, and once that releases just push out the same code for all platforms in a big patch. People on Reddit were saying they did some SteamDB updates so it's also possible there's miscommunication somewhere, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Not too upset regardless, I haven't found game-breaking bugs in my 2nd Street Kid playthrough so far, other than some annoyances, but not as many as 1.00 that's for sure.

It's hard to compare Cyberpunk 2077 to Deus Ex because of just how different both games are.

Deus Ex (and it's sequels) follow Warren Spector's design philosophies of having a game that is an inch deep rather than a mile wide. Cyberpunk on the other hand is filled with uninteresting setpieces in a world that feels hollow and restricting.

Deus Ex put it's own original and instantly recognizable spin on the cyberpunk genre in terms of style and aesthetics. Cyberpunk 2077 looks like GTA V with a Ghost In The Shell skin, with some extremely ugly zoomer-esque fashion choices.

Deus Ex has writing and dialogue that asks questions and dances around moral quandaries rather than giving explicit answers. Cyberpunk 2077 has dialogue that sounds like it was written by either a 10 year old or a "hip" 40 year old, with a story every bit as unengaging as a generic Far Cry game.

Perhaps I'm being a little bit too harsh on Cyberpunk, but comparing it to just about anything else within the same genre is not favorable to it. It doesn't even have to be pitted against a video game, comparing Cyberpunk to GITS or Blade Runner is like comparing Michelangelo's Creation of Adam to the botched Ecce Homo restoration.

I still wait for DLC's, i won't start that game before a DLC is released. I spent some time in Night City, but it isn't fun anymore. The gameplay just sucks. Story and graphics are aweome, else the game sucks.

I played it totally High End, but the optimization still sucked IMO.

played it with that:

I get the impression reading posts here that many people think that CDPR are at least trying to achieve that vision. I finally took the plunge and downloaded CP2077. I haven't played it yet, but when I get the time I'll try it with an open mind. I also sense from what I've read here that there's a lot of potential and need to open up parts of the city, interiors, and story lines in future DLCs. I've been following CP2077 for about 18 months now, hopefully I've got into it at the right time when CDPR are slowly removing bugs, improving gameplay, and expanding with DLC.

Out of interest, what kind of average frame rates did you get with your setup? Just wondering. I hope that I can run on at least medium to high settings with an i7-4790K, 32GB DDR3 RAM, and an AMD 6600XT 8GB (for sure not the best GPU, but I refuse to pay inflated/scalper prices for a better GPU). I bought the game for just under £30.00, which seemed fair based on some mixed reviews. We'll see.

Even though I didn't run into too many problems on my fat Xbox One, just a couple crashes and some choppiness while driving here and there, I'm going to wait til I get a Series X before I go back. I haven't played it since it came out, I really just lost interest in my playthrough tbh. Might start a new playthrough as a Corpo or whatever when I feel like returning.

I wonder if we will ever get a story DLC for this? Seems like they are just abandoning the game after doing some bug fixes.

I enjoyed it overall. They overhyped it way too much but if you ignore the marketing its an enjoyable game with a good story and really engaging side quests (way better than the crap we get in Ubisoft games).

There's already been leaks of some of the free DLC on the GOG story so it's in the works I think.

The next patch will be telling on the state of the games development but I do expect quite a bit more support from CDPR here, their rep is the dumps still and if they wanna sell TW4 they wanna be able to market it without having to deal with a giant amount of skepticism after Cyberpunk and doing a No Man's Sky type recover will help a lot in easing that skeptism.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I only started playing CP77 a while ago. Initially, I was a bit skeptical because of the negative reviews and opinions. But I bought the game as soon as I had the Xbox Series X.

And I have to say it's one of my favorite games now. There are certainly a few minor technical bugs - but it's a very ambitious game and so far I couln't find a game breaker.

The world is beautiful, yet menacing and claustrophobic at the same time. I am captured by the atmosphere and the sound of this very immersive place.

The story seems profound and multifaceted while the characters are likeable.

IMO the graphics look good too. I am also impressed by the overall vehicle feel in 1st Person mode.

Since I'm on Xbox, I'm currently in Mexico 😉 but I'm looking forward to returning to night city.

I started my playthrough a while back, then took a break for a few months, and just finished it recently. It was buggy to the very end, but looking past those minor annoyances, I think it's a good game.

I can't help but compare it to what happened with Mass Effect: Andromeda. Both were highly anticipated. Cyberpunk riding on the reputation of the Witcher series, Andromeda riding on the reputation of the Mass Effect series. Both games on launch received heavy criticism, but I had no plans to refund either game. I played through minor bugs in both games, and in the end I enjoyed them both. Both games had more potential.

Obviously, ME: Andromeda is now dead, so seeing anything more is out of the question for that game. It was left on a cliffhanger, but I feel like expansions could have lifted that game from good to great. For me, CP2077 is in that position where I think it can go from good to great depending on future updates/DLC.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been trending a lot on Twatter. It's good to see new people experiencing it for the first time and having positive reactions to it. It also inspired me to install the game again and try continue with my first and original play-through.

It looks like the big update is coming between March and May next year.

Also, CDPR have been going from humbled to cocky/confident again...

CD Projekt believes Cyberpunk ‘will be considered a very good game in the long run’

Yea it went 50% on Steam and had other good discounts elsewhere the past two weeks and it's resulted in many people taking the gamble and, based on what they've heard, going in with low expectations and being pleasantly surprised when they realise it's actually a good game.

The game's good, hell it's great in places, the problem is that it launched in a bad state and wasn't quite as special as CDPR implied it would be based on pre-release material. Hopefully CDPR realise the latter is the issue and build on what they made, not just polish it up and call it a job done.

Bought the CP2077 edition Xbox One X in the summer of 2020. The console/edition was brand new and on sale at cirka $250-300 over here. There was a bunch of X1 exclusives I wanted to dig into and I didn't trust my poor ol' base PS4 to run this game, so I thought what the hell. I think it was a good call. I've actually enjoyed CP2077 a lot. Probably spent at least 200 hours into it so far, over different characters. Never experiened nearly as many issues as people seemingly had with it. Mostly some crashes right around its launch, but barely any bugs or other issues.

Sure, maybe the game wasn't quite what CDPR promised but I never bought into all that hype anyway (everyone should know better with today's AAA game industry). As a big fan of futuristic stuff in the vein of Blade Runner, this type of game is just perfect for me. I think it's a great game overall with a few minor nitpicks here and there, such as poor/limited character customization and whatnot. But the story is solid enough and the world (Night City) looks absolutely amazing. I definitely want them to "fix" this game, add a bunch of more stuff to really give it its true potential.

Joking aside. Here is a quick attempt at Evelyn Parker in Nioh 2. This video also showcases what an amazing character creator looks like, which was one of my disappointments from CP2077.

It was a good game and I enjoyed it upon release despite its flaws.

People are quick to forget that Rockstar also spread a bunch of fake news and had a ton features cut when GTA V released.

Interesting to remember this thread now looking back. It's been a while.

Same here. I bought it straight away with very high expectations. For a few years I rated Witcher 3 as the best-designed PC game I'd played, and combined with the pre-release hype I expected Cyberpunk to be a paradigm shift. The reality was somewhat different, and I admit I was disappointed. But I still thought it was a good game and I played it through to the end. It just wasn't the revolutionary game I expected it to be.

Now I think RDR 2 is the best-designed PC game yet.

Always felt since playing it that Cyberpunk 2077 is basically TW3 in an open world sci-fi city setting. The game design is pretty much identical many of the same issues are present. The UI in TW3 is a mess to use, and it is in Cyberpunk, the skill system and progression is scrappy in TW3, and it is in Cyberpunk. Open world activities are copy and paste generic open world stuff in TW3, and it's the same in Cyberpunk. What sets TW3 apart from Cyberpunk and all the other open world AAA RPG's are the side quests, they're really, really good and there's LOADS of them.

That's really the disappointing thing with Cyberpunk for me personally, it wasn't the next step in AAA RPG's, it was just more of the same in a really fresh setting. The first person story telling though, oof, that was some good sh*t. Really sold me on the potential for first person story telling in an RPG going forward after being very cautious of it going in.
