So now I'm about 5 hours in and just completed The Heist.

Honestly the only bugs and glitches I've encountered so far have been very minor. There was one time where Jackie started floating in the air and he sunk into ground for as second or so (which admittedly made me laugh), but haven't enountered anything game breaking/progression breaking.

Besides that I absolutely love the story and characters so far. I was actually left a bit in shock at the conclusion of The Heist. Very few games have left me speechless like that unless they're GTA IV, Mafia II, RDR2 etc. I'm really interested to see where it goes from here. I also think Night City is striking aesthetically and feels so imposing with the towering skyline.

the heist mission was top notch! very emotional rollercoaster ride

That's what I am talking about. I knew the story will click with You judging by Your appreciation for GTA IV and emotional storylines.

And The Heist is just the beginning of the emotional rollercoaster. I won't spoil much, but I bet You'll love missions like Pyramid Song, The Hunt any many others. Have fun MVC :)

The Interlude was amazing too.😎

If there’s anything else I can say it’s the soundtrack in this game is fantastic.

Haven’t felt so pumped by an in game score since Doom 2016.

OMG. Heroes choked me up.🥲

For a side mission that was completely unexpected. Jackie was so cool. I’m surprised how quickly to attached to him.

I’m enjoying these missions where there’s just talking between characters, what they think, their pasts etc.

The game gets a lot of justified stick for it's technical issues and the missing features they confirmed or implied would be in the game, but when it's just you and the story it's a fantastic ride. The first person choice really helps a lot with the story telling as well IMO.

I’m not familiar with the features that were promised, but on a technical level I’ve been impressed. Now 10 hours in and the only bugs/glitches I’ve seen have been so minor they’re basically things that are common places in these type of games.

It’s funny because before release I didn’t really get the hype for it and of course the disastrous didn’t help. If I played it on release I more than likely would’ve felt no incentive to go back.

What was originally a curiosity to see what it’s actually like has been slowly turning into a live affair. The more I play it the more I love it. A game has to strike me the right way to extract those kind of feelings.

It’s such a shame it’s reputation had been hurt by the technical mess it was released in because while it’s not the world beating masterpiece that has been hyped for years it’s a bloody good, even possibly great game underneath the surface.

It’s won me over.

It's sorta been forgotten about or brushed aside, but the game achieved something like a 91 average rating when the first reviews released, which were all on high end PC's which was by far away the best platform to play the game. When I look around at other games scoring similar scores, I think it's a perfectly fair score.

Now the technical issues became prevalent the lower spec your PC was and they become a bit legendary if you played on console, especially last gen, so the post-launch reviews reflecting that were justified but there's still a very good game in there that does some very cool stuff. It's the best example of first person story telling I've seen probably ever.

I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I was playing on the PS4 and it definitely did have a lot of frame rate issues and bugs here and there but it's definitely an experience I will remember. The story and characters are definitely the strongest part of the game. The world is very well-built. The soundtrack is also spectacular.

However the weak NPC behavior and the lack of things to do in the open world(outside main or side missions like not having access to public transportation) are also an issue for me. But overall I'd say it's one of the better games of the last generation and should definitely be held in high regard.

I'm waiting for them to fully fix the game and add some new features/content and I'll definitely play again on the PS5.

on some points it was a technical mess, but mostly for people on "base" consoles (ps4,xbox one)

i never had any major problem with my one x

but thats a problem of the consoles and not the game, i remember how a friend of mine showed me assassins creed odyssey on his xbox one, the ocean water in the distance was not moving, it was literally a picture with no movement xD

It's great to see some positivity about the game. Right after the premiere it was like GTA IV all over again, but ten times more. I am not saying it was unjustified as the game technically was total mess and CDProjekt literally f*cked up, but people were acting like there absolutely nothing good about this game and it was worse than Satan's excrement. I believe in paying respect where respect is due and I believe in second chances. CDP messed up, but they acknowledge it and are willing to fix their mistakes with better and worse result. And it terms of atmosphere, soundtrack, story, characters and voice acting it's top notch right now imo.

I've completed the game twice so far, once on Xbox One (basic version) in 1.06 version and second time on Xbox One X, mostly in 1.23. The worst thing about playing on old Xbox One was the data streaming issues, textures appearing too late, inventory loading times, things like that. You couldn't change radio station without waiting a second or two, but I've managed to finish it completely. On Xbox One X it's different world and it works more or less well, with occassional issue here and there (mostly unpickable item or objects clipping together).

Well, glad some people like it. Honestly wish I could say the same, but my problems with the game goes beyond the abysmal launch.

On PS5 it runs at 60 FPS and I haven’t noticed any dips in frame rate. For all intents it’s been smooth so I’m looking forward to when it’s actually transformed to PS5 spec.

Admittedly I haven’t really paid that much attention to the NPCs, but I love the way the city looks and feels.

The derelict and run down areas really stand out.

Sorry for the double post, but it’s been a few days since the last one and I wanted to get this off my chest.

Still loving the game, but I haven’t really expressed any of my gripes. Fortunately there haven’t been too many major ones and there’s probably no point going over ones like the wanted system however while I really like Night City on a surface level in regards to atmosphere, aesthetics etc, but actually exploring it Is…..um?

It’s not the worst open world I’ve ever experienced, but now I’ve had the chance to play it for a few hours I can understand when people say it feels “lifeless”. It kinda feels like LA in LA Noire where the city mostly serves as a back drop to the story, but beyond that it feels like window dressing.

The majority of my enjoyment has been from the missions, side jobs etc from when I’ve been going from point A to point B, but when I slow down that’s when the cracks start to appear.

Sometimes I think this game would’ve benefitted from being linear/semi open world like God Of War, The Last Of Us etc.

It’s clear its biggest strengths come from the characters, dialogue, mission design etc, but there’s this feeling that all this hardwork is undone by the open world which feels too basic with the most minimalistic NPC behaviour possible just to scrape by.

It was also awesome when I went into my first bar/nightclub, but after that initial high I haven’t felt incentivised since unfortunately.

Yeah that's what I ended up thinking too. They wanted to make this big futuristic gta like city but couldn't achieve it. Pretty dumb since they don't have as much experience as Rockstar in creating open worlds. City is too dead and definitely killed a lot of my interest in the game. It's not even on the level of Watch Dogs which is pretty sad.

Yea the lack of interactivity with the city its self is the games primary weakness. It's actually crazy how many unique and detailed interiors are in the game - if you do the side content you'll enter loads, especially bars and clubs - but there's really nothing you can do in any of them. Funnily enough there's one or two clubs in the game where you get the option to dance if you walk onto the dancefloor, but all the other clubs don't have this, which just screams cut content.

I remember mentioning it back last year but it's actually a strange feeling playing Cyberpunk at times because I've never played a game where it's so obvious where they've cut content. It's like you constantly run into things where everything points to there being more to it but it just abruptly stops, and it's all to do with the open world and the city.

It's a shame too cause honestly Night City is actually mind blowingly good. The scale, the variety, the different parts of the city, the views... everything about Night City purely visually has been nailed IMO. That's all you can do it with it outside structured content though, just look at it.

This week i played again after a pause of like 7 months. I already played the main story. So i pleyed a few side quests and there are only 6 left. Some catch me more some just dont. But when i played the story i could not stop playing the game even though it was right after the realese.

After i dident play for so long i expected that the game feels/looks diffrent (i also switched from xbox one to series s) but it just dident.

At least the cops are not that bad anymore. But other then that i dident notice something that i was like wow. It was feeling just like the same without all the  bugs it had.

I got around to finishing, but I felt like I missed a lot of things so I started a fresh save. This time as a Streetkid.

I mean I didn't even know you could store things in car trunks so I need to pay more attention.

Really wonder if I should play it as soon as I can or continue to wait. About time CDPR give more details about their plans to improve the game.

I played it when it released and played trough it then i stoped came back a few weeks ago but not much changed. Sure many bugs are gone but still is the same game since released.

So if you just want to play a game with a great story go ahead.

If you want the game that the developer promised they will make, dont play it.

thanks for the advice, just what I thought. I played for an hour or so with a friend on PS4 and it was basicially how I expected.

I'm dying to play the story, side quests and see the gorgeous city. But I hope they don't abandon this game and improve the Open world so it doesn't ruin the atmosphere. I don't expect the bestest open world gameplay ever, but I don't want it to drag down the rest of the game.

Once the game world is more interactive and less lifeless, I'll dive right in.

Question is, is that even on the table? I'm somewhat disillusioned with the progress so far.

I should probably invest in a new CPU before anyway, my rig would be pretty decent without that bottleneck.

Thats the reason why i stoped, i only have a few sidequests left and played the story, even started a 2nd car. But after a played through the missions with a story behinde it the game started to feel empty.

The story is the main and almost only reason why i dident stoped earlier.

I mean if you play the game u can rly see in what direction the developer wanted the game to go.

And with the main caracters of the game they rly made a great job but like u already mentiont the city overall just dosent feel alive.

GiveMeLiberty78

Hello everybody, thanks for all of your interesting posts - I've followed Cyberpunk since about 18 months ago, and I've read most of the posts in this thread and some on other forums. I've read some very divided opinions about the game's past/release, its current state, and its potential future/DLC. I've also seen some great screenshots, particularly in this thread.

Anyway, I have some questions. Basically:

  • Is Cyberpunk 2077 actually worth buying for PC in its current state/v1.31?

  • What are some of the must-have mods to improve (not necessarily to eliminate) bugs, to improve the visuals, and to improve/to extend the gameplay? I've already found many which I'll post here soon, but I'm curious to know which mod(s) you guys recommend or consider essential.

  • Can I expect to run the game at, say, 60fps 1080p at medium-high settings with my PC specs? My specs: W10 64-bit; 1TB SSD (50% space free); Intel i7-4790K @ 4.5GHz (not overclocked); 32GB DDR3 RAM; and an AMD 6600 XT 8GB (not the best GPU admittedly, but a solid 1080p card in my experience; I bought it 5 days post-release at a reasonable £320.00 after my previous AMD RX 5700 XT 8GB blew up/got RMA'd through no fault of my own, which was irreplacable because of the ongoing global chip shortage).

For what it's worth, my PC runs very 'lean' - I run no background apps, I put anti-virus in silent mode - and I prevent Windows updates - whenever I run intense applications or games, I don't stream, the PC boots to Windows in about 5 seconds, and overall it runs very well without any bloatware, etc. I appreciate the old adage, YMMV.

Cyberpunk has obviously had a rough development since launch, and I read a lot of uncertainty about its future direction and DLC. But I also read some redeeming posts about its ongoing updates, and about how mods are extending its replay value, so I appreciate any help/advice you guys can give. Thanks!

I hope they have something big cooking for Cyberpunk in general tbh. They've fixed quite a lot of bugs to their credit and the game is running better on most platforms but to really No Man's Sky revival this and their rep they need to do waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more.

Right now I have hope more than expectation, but they have been relatively quiet for a studio of their size so hopefully it's a case of them putting together a big update/expansion that'll bring a lot of good stuff to Cyberpunk.

Same here. I was among first people who bought the game on PS4. The bugs were so atrocious but for some reason I managed to get through the main questline & quite considerable amount of side quests.

It's a shame really cuz I felt the story was quite good, there are indeed various ways to proceed a quest, which feels really cool.

Alas bugs ruined the enjoyment so many times. I've only got one ending but even now I still don't have enough motivation to replay. But hopefully they will fix the majority of bugs and add something fun to pull me back in.

imo they will release the next-gen upgrade, then release 1 or 2 real DLCs, but thats it, i cant see them supporting cyberpunk in the far future...sadly

(and i highly doubt this game will ever get a multiplayer...sadly)

I plonked about 50hrs into this game which is good value compared to other games. Recently, I thought the break was long enough and I'd fall in love again but instead I was just reminded about it's wasted potential and I uninstalled it. I haven't finished the story. I'm waiting for this upgrade. I hope spending a year and a half more, they finally release the game they wanted to release. I don't think it will be but it should be sizable improvement over the initial release. I maybe even just start all over again.

I found that I acquired a lot of contacts in-game really quickly and couldn't figure out where they came from. Next thing you know, I'm getting calls and messages off people and I'm like "wait, who tf are you, again?" lol

I'm someone always hopeful about multiplayer but always let down by it, partly because I've no regular crew of people I play games with and playing solo multiplayer is a bit of a melt. But, a C77 multiplayer really got my imagination. I thought it would be really cool.

The vanilla game and map is perfect for a multiplayer game of tons of possibilities. There's so many interiors in the vanilla game alone they could use for a variety of stuff and there's some decent vehicle variety for a good foundation. They could also probably reuse say V's apartment for online character apartments a whole bunch in the first mega building as it'd make sense lore wise to do so, rather than having GTAO's same 4-5 interiors  copy and pasted around the map in buildings where it makes no sense.

It's a shame it'll probably never happen but CDPR have other priorities right now I imagine. They probably want their next product to be a sure winner (so, Witcher 4) and not a risky new venture with all sorts of technical hurdles they'll have to overcome.
