œaœa
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/09/c..._n_2444314.html From the Huffington Post: Christopher Nolan will reportedly direct "Interstellar," a twisty new science-fiction film based on a script by his younger brother Jonathan Nolan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the elder Nolan signed on for the film after months of negotiations. The trade paper was the first to report the news of Nolan's involvement with "Interstellar." If "Interstellar" sounds familiar, that's because you have a great memory. The film was first reported on back in 2006, when Steven Spielberg was attached to direct; Jonathan Nolan came on to write the screenplay in 2007. As late as 2010, the idea was still in play for those two to collaborate. According to the initial reports, "Interstellar" was based on "a scientific theory by Kip S. Thorne, a Caltech physicist and expert on relativity. His theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel intrigued Spielberg, who attended a Caltech workshop on the subject with Thorne and other scientists." Per THR, that logline has basically remained the same: The film will follow a group of scientists who travel through a wormhole into another dimension. "Interstellar" would be Nolan's first post-Batman project. The director is set up as a producer on "Man of Steel," and had previously shot down the idea of directing "Justice League" for Warner Bros. Obviously no casting has been announced yet, but don't be surprised if names like Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Christian Bale and Michael Caine get mentioned as possible stars, if only because of their prior relationships with the director. What do you guys think? UPDATE: Official release date is November 7th, 2014 in IMAX http://www.slashfilm.com/christopher-nolan...ax/#more-165332 Edited March 9, 2013 by sibs44
Pagelzilla
Sounds like a great concept to work with. Nolan hasn't let me down with anything yet so I am really looking forward to reading much more about this.
dr_killpatient
Its so crazy to me that it took a limey to make a good batman series when batman originated right here
Typhus
Time travel, eh? I must say I am intrigued. For whilst many other aspects of science fiction such as space travel or human augmentation are things I would want humanity to achieve in the future, the idea of time travel is so dangerous and so catastrophic I can only shudder at the thought of it ever becoming more than a pipe dream. But I will say this, if he does tackle the sci-fi genre it may be a chance for Nolan to create a more fantastical movie. For instance, Inception was about dreams but was still very grounded and realistic. The subject of time travel and other dimensions may allow Nolan the chance to do something far more visually unique than what we've seen from him thus far. Vanilla Shake
SO pumped. McConaughey was the sh*t on True Detective, and it's a Nolan movie. This is shaping up to be a midnight viewing for me like the last 3 Nolan films were, only I've got a feeling this may truly be his masterpiece. milkmansun
I admire how they give us a good reason for a mystery behind the wormhole, which is deacent and makes us to eagerly wait for it to reveal when the movie is released. Not like J J Abraham's mystery where it turn out to be over hyped and nothing special at the end. This how mysteries should be, not in a box or teasing with small shaky image of monsters and sh*t.. Well not meant to hit J J Directly, just this made me think how good a movie maker should make his or her movie represent in audience mind... Vanilla Shake
Really surprised this topic isn't more active with under two months to go. Anyway, seems the promotion is starting to kick into full gear. Four new posters were released this week with some new taglines, as well as a game. I personally like the last poster the best, along with its "Go Further" tagline. And here's a link to the game: http://game.interstellarmovie.com/ TC718 / <629 / CF5

Vanilla Shake
New and final trailer released today! This is shaping up to be an incredible event. They've also revealed the running time, and it's 169 minutes long. 4 minutes longer than The Dark Knight Rises. This makes me happy.
