MIKON8ERISBACK
The day is January 9th, 2013. I have just received word over Facebook that Three Days Grace lead singer Adam Gontier has announced his intentions to leave the band on account of a non life-threatening health issue. Matt Walst; the lead singer of My Darkest Days will be acting as the lead singer on their upcoming tour. Adam Gontier has been with the band continually since 1997. The current press release hot off the press is as follows: Further to our press release of this morning we wanted to write to you directly our fans about the news of the day. We appreciate everyone’s concern about Three Days Grace. We found out on December 21st that Adam wished to resign from the band. In a letter to us Adam indicated that he was resigning from the band due to a non life threatening health issue and wanted the band to continue moving forward without him. We were as shocked as many of you were to hear the news. Three Days Grace has always been and will continue to be not only our job but our passion. Instead of cancelling the tour, we felt an obligation to you, the fans, to forge ahead and put on the best show we can. Brad recently reached out to his brother Matt Walst, lead singer for My Darkest Days to fill in for the tour dates already announced. We've been hanging out and rehearsing with Matt and look forward to rocking the stage in a few weeks! As of right now, Matt's role is temporary and as far as the future and beyond this tour, we are taking it one day at a time. This event acts as a rude awakening that yet another cherished band which defined my childhood and young teenage years is endangered. I trust that they won't suddenly become as sh*tty as the post-Steven Tyler Aerosmith, but they'll never be the same again. Adam Gontier's voice will be another one of those lead singers that will remind me of a bygone chapter in my life in future years.
Ex Hellraiser
WHY? This sucks. One more good band to lose their singer in recent months... Right after Transit of Venus, though? I would think that he would've stayed for a little longer to fill out the existing tour dates, then call it quits. However, I hope that after this "health issue" is passed (if it ever does), that Adam comes back, or at least does some more touring. Too bad. I just got their newest one a couple weeks ago, and now this?
