MP3SHN
How many weapons you can carry? I think in the GTA 5 should be done only 4 slots for weapons: cold weapons, explosives (grenades, molotov), rifle and pistols. Or need left 20 guns in pants? SilentEwe
I mean I see your point, and I like the idea....However, I like being able to carry whatever I want. The way it is already(in previous GTAs), you can only carry one of each type of weapon right? So why does this need to change? EDIT: And dont say "to make it more realistic" its a videogame! Im sick of people saying to make it more realistic!! Edited January 9, 2013 by SilentEwe
ASNAEB
Although I like the realistic approach of GTA IV, I do want it to stay fun and it shouldn't lose it's 'gameness' in favour of realism. 4 weapons in your pants is just as crazy as 10 or something, but you aren't asking for visible holsters or straps or something for the guns (which would be difficult to make). In a shooter with a realistic approach I expect a limited amount of weapons, but GTA is so much more and I think it would break more than it would make if you have a limited amount of weapons, but GTA is much more than that. thebestgameever
Some things are best kept as over the top or "unrealistic" for the games sake and this is one of them!
paydayp
i dont even want them to use the old system. like u could only carry grenades and if u wanted molotov u had to switch them losing all your grenades u may have bought. i just want to carry all of the weapons i have found /bought to make it more fun wouldnt mind if they shared ammo, just make it possible to carry all weapons. i think this will add to the fun of the game. thats what games are meant to be right fun. ultimatelizardman
4 weapons (excluding the player's bare hands) should be the maximum one can carry: - a two handed weapon. - a one handed firearm. - a one handed melee weapon. - a "special" weapon (Molotov cocktails for example). - bare hands. Im sick of people saying to make it more realistic!! You will be able to carry what you want, all the tools you can carry with 2 arms. “We tell you to go get something and the player decides how to do it - what characters they need on the job and what tools they need for those characters.” The Benz said that. Tools could be weapons,or vehicles too. Like, Franklin uses the car, Trevor the helicopter etc...but I think he's talking about the guns we choose to equip. Crowbar in one hand, silenced pistol in the other and a silenced M4 strapped on the back? Or two mac 10's, one in each hand, and a shotgun on your back? GTA gets realer and becomes more sophisticated every time. Having a limited arsenal would be fine in my opinion
BlackNoise
I hope it's like Max Payne 3. I like seeing the weapons on the character and each protagonist can have their own set, so you could still have access to the same amount of weapons by switching characters when you want. BUT THE BENZ
^yeah...that's what I said too a month ago or so. You can't just carry all guns with you anymore. And certain "tools" are likely bound to specific characters. You just don't use the chainsaw with Michael that's clearly Trevor's thing, nahmean!? killahmatic
i dont care how many slots there are, i just wish we could care the weapons we want, rather than 1 weapon in each category. i rarely use a sniper rifle or baseball bat, so i'd like to exchange them for something i'd actually use. epicluca
In the Franklin and Chop screen, it looks like Frankie has something in his Pocket. A Pistol maybe? Hints to more realistic weapon holding?

So they can't even use the weapons we want them to use? To be honest, I feel like I would actually be pretty close to hating this game if that were the case. I can forgive a lot, really bad driving physics is the only other thing that would get the same reaction from me. GTA is about freedom, man, come on. I know there's money in the bags, but Michael is also putting his mask in there as well. I could see this working when you want to carry more weapons/tools or something. DickieM
I don't think it should go as far as Sleeping Dogs did, where you could only conceal one pistol and had to use a vehicle to conceal a ****ing machine pistol.
Fail_At_GTA
The unrealistic GTA weapon system is fine. Theres no need to make every aspect of the game like real life. It would suck if I couldnt pull my RPG out of my jacket that doesnt open.

Miss Darko
Well, it would be another person's idea of fun to limit it anyway, to make the missions more tactical. But I don't feel like that works as well for GTA as other games. Max Payne is meant to make you feel somewhat limited and desperate, using what little you have at your disposal and then moving on to using what others have dropped to the best of your abilities. The way it was done and how it all felt realistic and no guns were just appearing out of nowhere was fantastic. However, with GTA V we can already see our characters aren't covered in holsters and straps, and there is a focus on freedom. It also seems to be moving, even if just by a little bit, away from the relative realism of GTA IV. Nothing in the material we've been given so far suggests to me that they want to recreate that sense of desperation that MP3 had by limiting the player in a realistic fashion. However, there could be such a large variety of weapons, some of which aren't necessarily better than others but just different in ways to appeal to various preferences (essentially, balancing our arsenal better), that we still have to make choices and figure out what we want, as well as having money be a bigger obstacle when wanting good weapons. That's one way where we still have to choose our tools and figure out what will be most effective. Edited January 9, 2013 by Mr. Darko

I like it more realistic. I didn't care when the game basically looked like a cartoon, but now that the visuals and physics are on point, I also want the weapon system to make more sense as well. It worked really well in Max Payne 3 IMO. And I wish people would stop just saying "it's a videogame". You could say that about anything in GTA. When I'm playing NBA 2k, Fight Night, GT or Forza, I want them to be as realistic as possible. I don't feel any different about GTA. I don't want refueling or eating to live, but choosing which weapons to take actually requires strategy and that's what I loved about MP3. It would actually work better in GTA, because you can go anywhere. In MP3 you couldn't even go back to the room you were just in many cases, so the choice you made was final. ugotsmoked
I like the system the way it is...there is no reason to carry more than one weapon in a class in my opinion. If you have the MP5 you would not want the micro uzi if you have the M4 you would not want the AK47 and so on. The only thing I don't like is the bullet limit. I should be able to pick up as many bullets as I want to with no limit.
Shadowfox_
Yo, sh*t this is where the line is drawn. You want gta to be fun not sh*t and I highly doubt rockstar are gonna choose excessive realism over losing some of their fans. People keep saying have only 4 slots just like in Far cry 3, but the problem is, what if you have more than 4 weapons that you favor then it would just be an annoyance. If it's not broken don't fix it.

If it's not broken don't fix it. Some people think the old weapon system is broken if it's used in a 2013 game. Who knows what R* is going to do? Many people didn't expect all the changes from GTA SA to IV, but they happened. Now that we've seen LA Noire and MP3, it's possible R* just likes that level of realism. And it's only "excessive" if R* thinks it's excessive. Their goal isn't just to keep as many fans as possible, because if they only cater to unreasonable fans, they may not be able to move the series forward in the direction they want. If that's really how they thought, we wouldn't have three protagonists. I just think it's best not to get attached to any one thing, because R* won't keep making the same game, most things will eventually change. GTA IV showed me how pointless it is to draw the line anywhere. I got use to the changes and then I was able to enjoy a great game. A bunch of "fans" couldn't deal with it, but do you honestly think R* gives a f*ck about the people who don't like their games?
