Reason being, what the hell would be the point if you had lots of money from the start? R* acknowledge this, and are probaly gonna make it so that he only has his wallet cash ($100) and his wife proibits him from taking a penny from home/his savings.

Its completely plausible in this game though. Probably the most likely scenario that we'll see actually.

I'm hoping story-cash and gameplay-cash are one thing. In GTA IV most of the stuff you did was to pay for rent, given to Roman, etc. Story-wise you were always losing money, but gameplay-wise that money was always there as a reward for doing missions. I really hope they are one thing though this time.

I highly doubt Michael will start with a crapload of money at the start of the game. Like any protagonist in any other GTA game, Michael will no doubt have to earn most of his money through doing missions and other side tasks and progressing the game. Michael being wealthy from the beginning will be more implied for the purpose of the story in my opinion.

 

Another case where many people are looking too much into things; the idea that Michael will have millions of dollars to spend from the start of the story.

I think the artwork depiction of the 3 characters standing behind the Tornado vehicle with the boot lid open implies Michael stashing all the money in there, because his wife says it's a bad idea to deposit a million in the bank with no reason for where it came. The F.I.B would be on Michael's case straightaway.
