Cebra
This is my first post. So, I'm worried about the driving in GTA V. I know Dan Houser said that the driving will be more like a racing game, which I'm not sure if is good or bad. If by a racing game he means Midnight Club: LA, that will kind of annoy me. I'm not saying it's the end of the world, but I found that in the Midnight Club series, the game made me feel like I was supposed to be going 60+mph all the time or the car got hard to control. I know many people complained about GTA IV's driving, but I found it was nearly perfect. It was harder than earlier games, but realistic enough to feel normal. In TBoGT, the sports cars got easier to control which was okay too, but I liked not immediately pulling to the side when I nudged the thumbstick. Also, I hope it's not like LA Noire. Dear God I loved that game but the driving was horrible. The driving should stay the way it was with subtle changes in my opinion. What do you guys think? Gta4's car physics were too soft, especially with the dukes. But in no doubt the driving physics were fun and didnt feel like crap.

Its annoying to see so many new threads every day complaining about the same stuff that the threads from yesterday complained about.

Above
The physics in GTAIV felt great once you got to master them but they weren't too realistic. It often felt like the cars were sailing rather than driving, but it still worked nicely. I don't think GTAV will have arcade physics like Midnight Club L.A. Rockstar obviously pursue whatever that feels right for the game like everything else.

Kifflom112
Yeah, I'm a big worried too. MCLA was a great game, but that handling, man, sometimes it was so annoying I didn't play it. In IV, cars had so much personality. I hope that isn't removed. I like some racing games but if this game has handling like, say, NFS MW(2012) I will be really pissed off. Driving in GTA is one of the main things I do and I loved it in IV. In fact, Iv's hadnling would be perfect for country roads in V with some cars having under/over steer or precise turning, great handling, etc... Capricornus
I really loved the driving physics in GTA IV, as I thought they were damn superb. I never thought I would have a great deal of fun, just simply cruising around the city in a GTA game and going with the flow of the traffic. GTA IV is where this happened. I understand that Houser said it would be more like a racing game, but I really just hope for a slightly tweaked version of the GTA IV physics. I think they will handle the physics well. The driving physics from GTA IV, IMHO, is one of the few things that can just be carried over from GTA IV with little to no change.
Racecarlock
Going by the trailer, it kind of reminds me of Driver San Francisco. Which is fine, because while I crashed a lot in driver san francisco, at least I could drift and take corners. In IV I spin out if I try to turn at more than 10 MPH. ill-thoughts
I don't think GTAV will have arcade physics like Midnight Club L.A. Personally i LOVEDDD the controls of the cars in MCLA, i didnt think they were arcadeish at all. i think the first car that i purchased in the game was my favorite one, it wasnt too fast but was fast enough. when you hit the brakes, you could feel the weight of the car pull forward and shift back into place and i enjoyed driving in that game more than i did with ANY other driving game i had ever played. Still though, I was having trouble in the sports cars even. And the FIB buffalo. And those are supposed to be the high handling cars.

saintsrow
In IV, cars had so much personality. I hope that isn't removed. I agree also that there is a wide range of car physics in GTA IV and I would like to still see that range. However, to my taste, too many of the GTA IV cars handle like land barges and feel like "sailing" as someone said. Nonetheless, some handle really well. So I would hope for more cars to have slightly tighter handling (but still retain a few true land barges) and more cars that drift really well without needing an insanely fine adaptation to the console controls. My pet peeve, (yes, I'm "complaining") is that while the GTA cars have beautiful physics, the huge dead zone and small linear range of the console controls (both the steering and throttle/brakes) don't allow us to really control the cars to their potential. I really wish that could be fixed.
TheJasonGallant
I love the handling in IV! It's great. I don't think it will be so different. Of curse the handling is probably going to be a little bit easier but I think it'll be fine.

Bonfy
I'm one of those that didn't like the driving/car phisics in IV. To me it looked like you were always driving on ice. I got used to it, and after all these years I'm just good enough at driving in IV, but still id isn't fun to me like it was in previous games. Now, I don't wanna beg for a return to the III era driving (wich is actually too arcade), but having cars grip to the road more is just fine to me. Oh, another thing that bugged me in IV was the car's absorbers (especially in suvs). I mean, if you do the slightest turn, the whole car puts itself on a ~30 degrees angle compared to the ground. Too weird to see tbh. So yeah, I'm pretty happy with what Houser stated about the new physics!
