Jordan_Philip
I might end up getting your thread locked, but I like this theory. The whole logic behind Michael is that he's a successful GTA protagonist. But even if the names aren't a coincidence, it'd be little more than a homage. That can't be possible since GTA Advance and GTA V are in different timelines. People need to stop being so literal with this. Everyone acts as if there's some rulebook of the muses when it comes to GTA. I agree with this guuuuyyyy. We gotta chill about the universe thing. Though I never played GTA Advance I think its a cool Idea to revisit old playable characters. Maybe in the future there will be a GTA where one of the playable characters is Niko in some new city
GTA-Addicted
For reference: There are many references to GTAIII characters and brands (El Burro graffiti in LC for example) in GTAIV, but do any characters (other than Lazlow) actually exist within both 'universes'? Is that where Donald Love went? Did he hop dimensions into the GTAIV universe?! Plot twist!! Are the two universes completely separate? I understand it'd make almost no sense having two Liberty City's but is there any way we'll see characters from GTAIII return? GTAIV has some amazing characters, but some of the characters in the III era are just unforgettable. Rockstar says: El Burro is referenced as he was also referenced in GTA 1, so it felt appropriate that he should cross “universes” – the “universes” are the worlds interpreted at different definitions, 2d, 3d and high definition, so we felt brands and radio / back ground characters would exist in both, but 3 dimensional characters would not. This is the logic (as far as it could be considered logical) behind it – so no, we don’t believe any GTA3 characters could exist in the GTA4 universe. Link: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/arti...claude-dar.html - about halfway down the page under the heading "Other characters". I've had a quick look through the GI article for the more recent reference to this and cannot locate it. I'll have to give up because I've got to go to work now. "The five PS2 games are one universe, and this is the high definition universe, so they don't co-exist," Houser said to GI, "You wouldn't ever see CJ or Tommy Vercetti. They would be liike mythical characters in this world who never existed." Ouch. Way to crush dreams, Rockstar. Still, the Game Informer feature does mention that we will be seeing some familiar characters return from GTA 4 and Episodes From Liberty City. http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1670917/gta_5..._ones_will.html
Kirsty
I don't think this is going to happen, R* have explicitly said that this is the HD era and that only brands, not characters, travel across universes. Although it could be a good theory, I don't see them going back on everything they've said just to continue the story of a handheld protagonist from the 3D era. Easter eggs maybe, they can be fun and pay homage to previous games, but direct links to older eras would change everything they've stood by. "The five PS2 games are one universe, and this is the high definition universe, so they don't co-exist," Houser says. "You wouldn't ever see CJ or Tommy Vercetti. They would be like mythical characters in this world who never existed." A quote direct from the Game Informer preview.

I'd love for Claude or Tommy to return in an HD game with obvious revamps to their characters to make them fit in to the realism of the world and most likely as a side character for the story but sadly it's not gonna happen. Everything prior to the HD era is supposedly considered a "myth." sometimes. you look very strange. somewhat smiling. a little vain. saying not today. Mike fits in within the GTAIII era. Rockstar have said numerous times, including recent interviews in November, that this is an entirely different universe and specifically said GTAIII era characters won't cross over to GTAV. End of story.
