I mean... You don't know sh*t! I don't know eighter, no one knows... Everyone here is wrong. Except for the people that says that there is no specific release date yet. Because, there isn't a specific release date yet! You don't know what's happening on the other side, you don't know R*'s logic, you don't know anything. All you do is pretend. There is not enough information to get a valid prediction. All this is a serious waste of time... Even if you guys have lot of time to waste (me too), I think everyone should wait and see... There's no point continuing talking about this... If you want to talk about something interesting, I have ideas... Like talking about how much you are excited for the game, what would you like or not like to be in the game, speaking about things in the other GTAs that you loved or whatever.... All this is useless, if you want to talk or pretend, at least pretend on things you can and stop treating people ignorants or whatever, because there ain't no one here that can give us a release date. I do think we'll get a date this month though, or early Feb. Its called an estimate. And I disagree. Rockstar's games always have a 4 - 6 month gap between announcement and actual release. And I dont think that will change anytime soon. You'll see what I mean when they announce the release date . Hey, I'll say that its a good observations, and patterns tend to stay the same, but everything is evolving to where the past doesnt matter. Considering its January, and the game is coming April-June, obviously it'll be 4-6 months. Yeah that means they need to announce a date real soon. That's why the release date HAS to be announced with either the box art reveal or the TTWO conference call. If that dont happen, There's absolute no chamce for May. Here they are: Grand Theft Auto IV - First release date announced on May 09, 2006 as October 16th 2007 (17 month gap to planned release) but delayed as of August 2nd, 2007 with the new release date of April 29th, 2008. (8 month gap) Red Dead Redemption - Released date announced on November 25th, 2009 as April 27 (5 month gap) later delayed to May 18, 2010. L.A noire - Release date announced on in January 16th (Leaked trailer) as May 17th, 2011 (4 Month Gap). Rockstar confimed the date few days after the leak. Max Payne 3 - Release date announced on September 8th, 2011 as March (6 month gap) but later delayed to May 15. So GTA V release date will have to be announced atleast 4 - 5 months to actual release. Personally, I believe it will be delayed to October. (Usual GTA releases except IV) Your thoughts? I think logic like this has gone right out of the window for GTA V. Not one pattern of prior game releases has been repeated. Except perhaps G I getting the scoop, but aside from that, nothing has been repeated. They may release the exact release date when the game goes gold, so could be a month before the game hits the shelves, you just cannot tell with Rockstar with this one product. Expect a definitive date by the end of Feb with a late April release. Don't be too surprised. They're just playing carefull this time around. My biggest reason is that Dan Houser has done two rounds of interviews since the GI cover story, and both times he's answered big questions with "Well, we're still working on that, still trying to figure out how to do it." Hopefully it's just his way of not talking about it, but he doesn't seem to mind just saying precisely that on other occasions, so... makes me nervous. Seems pretty late in the development cycle to still be trying to figure out how things in the game will work. I'll be very happy to be wrong. Magic_Al Posted January 12, 2013 Share Posted January 12, 2013 I'm in the camp that says it was originally meant to come out within a year of the first trailer, but Rockstar deserves credit for NOT committing to any date then. They used to give release estimates when they announced new titles, but they haven't done that since Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 were announced in 2009. They've learned they can't commit to a date a year and a half away, or a year away, or even half a year away. They can commit to a date three months away, because then the game is really almost done. Most likely, they'll announce a date with the box art and it'll probably be a late April date, because if they do have to delay May isn't a bad fallback date. It's totally possible they'd surprise us and tell us date as well, but I'm guessing the date will be given in February and has been planned on being given in February for a bit now. The game has already been internally delayed a couple of times according to the former Rockstar employee(s) that posted a while ago. Apparently the game could have been released in 2011, but was then delayed to 2012, and then delayed again to 2013. The difference was that no dates were ever announced until recently. Also realize that GTA IV was somehow put out only 4 years after San Andreas came out. 4 years to create a new GTA game on a completely new engine? That is insane. It has already been more than 4 years since GTA IV, so I think Rockstar was really confident when they announced for a Spring release date.
