Here they are: Grand Theft Auto IV - First release date announced on May 09, 2006 as October 16th 2007 (17 month gap to planned release) but delayed as of August 2nd, 2007 with the new release date of April 29th, 2008. (8 month gap) Red Dead Redemption - Released date announced on November 25th, 2009 as April 27 (5 month gap) later delayed to May 18, 2010. L.A noire - Release date announced on in January 16th (Leaked trailer) as May 17th, 2011 (4 Month Gap). Rockstar confimed the date few days after the leak. Max Payne 3 - Release date announced on September 8th, 2011 as March (6 month gap) but later delayed to May 15. So GTA V release date will have to be announced atleast 4 - 5 months to actual release. Personally, I believe it will be delayed to October. (Usual GTA releases except IV) Your thoughts? Thats exactly my point. Come february, there will only be 3 months IF its May and That wont happen. It has to be January (Hopefully with the box art reveal) Otherwise Its delayed. That's how I would do it and I think it makes sense to do it that way. But I don't work for R* so meh, we'll see. If they don't tho, it doesn't mean it won't launch in Spring. Rockstar was most likely silent for 9 months because of the glitches in it. An information drought is better than a delayed release date. That was the actual delay. Oh and stop talking about GTA 5 being released in March. The absolute earliest it can come out is April 1, which it wont anyway. The way Rockstar releases info there's going to be a gap between box art reveal this month and their next announcement. Probably large enough to where it'll be too late to launch in Spring. The Last of Us launches in May and they announced the date over a month ago. For Rockstar still not giving us a date, after all this time, means they're still not positive about an exact date. In this case they say it's released on Sping, it isn't an exactly day but it's a period of time it will be released. So somehow the release date is already known and there is a time frame people are expecting it, it's not like they announce it and people will feel "OMG 1 month to release", in fact if they gave the exact date 1 or 2 months before wouldn't make any difference. And that window is all of three months long. I think they do have an idea that they can successfully target that window. Furthermore, from the time of the spring 2013 announcement to the start of the spring 2013 window itself is about 5 months. So there's your 5-6 month lead time already. I reckon that when they do finally give us an actual release date, I think it will be one they feel they can stick to. Ice1980 Posted January 9, 2013 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Let's look at this a bit more closely. Summer begins in the Northern Hemisphere on June 21st. Take-Two fiscal 2013 ends March 31st. GTA V is set to be released spring 2013 for there fiscal 2014 year. So we have launch window between April 1st to June 20th for GTA V. These are the possible dates: APRIL: 2nd 9th 16th 23rd GTA V will launch this day! 30th MAY 7th 14th 21st 28th JUNE 4th 11th 18th In my opinion R* and Take-Two will release GTA V April 2013. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a GTA title was ever released in May/June? I have no evidence to support April release date. We know GTA IV was pushed back to April for it's reasons. GTA V I believe was originally planned for March, but considering how well there fiscal 2013 will be, it's only obvious that April will be the launch month to boost the start of fiscal 2014! It cannot be in march because spring officially starts on March 30th (which is a saturday). The earliest possible date would be April 2nd. I think they'll start advertising after the box art is revealed, which is not far from now. The latest they can start advertising (to release in April) is beginning in February imo.
