As Rockstar told us when people were so persistent in talking about CJ and Tommy being in GTA V they said that they are in different eras. The 3D Era is all the games that were on the PS2 and the original XBox and such. The HD era until GTA V is released is GTA IV and its' episodes. This means that in GTA IV's Liberty City Claude never exsisted, to sum it up shortly.. It is almost like two different worlds. In GTA III for example if you talked about Niko Bellic it would be considered a fictional story, and vice-versa.
