What kind of missions are you hoping for?

So i've been playing The Lost and Damned alot today (Watching episodes of Sons of Anarchy can have that effect on you, lol) and while alot of people prefer The Ballad of Gay Tony, because most missions are fun and contain some crazy sh*t, IMO TLAD has its fair share of crazy fun missions too. Just now i was riding shotgun on a bike, while blasting away at cop cars and choppers, awesome missions. MORE of these missions in GTA V please.

As we all know, the key missions in GTA V will center around (i think it was five) big heists, but that of course won't be all the missions in the game. We will no doubt get the standard GTA missions..like....'drive here, shoot this guy, pick item up, bring it to someone etc' personally i really do hope these missions will still be in, cause even though a lot of people might consider those missions tiresome and boring, i enjoy them, i truly do.

Anyway, what kind of missions are you hoping for? The fact that we get three different protagonists will no doubt take care of the 'boring' problem from the GTA games so far, but we still don't really know what kind of new ideas and things we'll get in the missions. So what is it that you are expecting and hoping for?

High-speed car chase missions.

Yeah, i second this. And let these chases also take place through narrow alleys and make them incredibly spectacular. Check this out, i'd like to see chases like these in GTA V a bit more.

Simple ssassination missions, it may sound boring but it's pretty fun because you plan your killings, you use the guns you like, the getaway car you like, etc.

I want pure action like Truck Hustling in IV, Freefall and Stowaway in SA, Departure Time in TBoGT, something like that, that would be incredibly fun! icon14.gif

Yeah, assassin missions are always fun, but especially if they put more variety in it. So let these asssasinations take place in different locations, give them more depth and make them longer. Give us a sneak ability and let us do special takedowns from behind, like snapping a neck or some real Manhunt style sh*t biggrin.gif

@G-Eazy

That would be f*cking awesome, to have a mission like that. That part in the second trailer with Michael, his son and Franklin on the highway looked a bit similar and i really hope that's pure gameplay and not just a cutscene.

ill-thoughts

dont really care much for missions as i dont care about the story, would much rather have Drug Wars type side-missions.

I want some missions where you can sneak past some guards in a building and keep your stealth up and steal something very expensive - if you will be sightet, then it will be up to your gunfight skills against many guards.

Also I want a mission where you are on a driving train/flying airplane and kill enemies inside it, place some c4's and jump out of the driving train when it's on a high bridge/flying plane and open your parachute and activate the c4 while on parachute.

It would be also good if we could swim with a small submarine over to a big military submarine and sneak in or just running through and shoot all up what moves and place explosions in it. Then escaping from it in a limited time. If you are too slow, the explosions will take care of you.

A simple stealing military car and drive-by while escaping mission with all 3 protagonists in a stolen armored military SUV with a mounted machine gun or something would be cool. Franklin drives, Trevor makes a normal drive-by with uzis, pistols and grenades and Michael uses the mounted machine gun.

Man I just want much action and good stealth! Best would be those 2 genres combined of course.

Ones like Three Leaf Clover of course

But that pretty much is a given, i mean the whole game is all about heists and what not. So that should be fine smile.gif. Let's also not forget that part in the second trailer with the airplane and the car falling out of it and stuff, that clearly is another crazy mission no doubt. And let's not forget what they said in previews, you are gonna need the right connections and money to get the big crazy expensive toys, i'm willing to bet that we'll be doing some sick missions to get that kind of money and what not. I love how Rockstar keeps so tightlipped about alot of stuff, they clearly want the people to find it out themselves, i love that.

I'd like to see more multi part missions. Like Bomb the Base in GTA III. I liked how there were a few missions you needed to do to prepare for the heist in Vice City, getting each person ready. I'd also like to see a huge distinction from big missions and small missions, by font size/type or something. To prepare the player for either an epic cinematic kick ass mission or a pick up person a drop off at point b mission. If they did that properly that would make the game way more enjoyable. Right now every mission is a roll of the dice and I can't get too excited about it. I really would like to see more wacky missions like the speed inspired mission with lovefist in Vice City or stealing the lyric book from mad dogg in San Andreas. Also they need to cut WAY back on "drive to point A. take out all enemies" missions. They get really really old. We also need more missions where you can make a choice like in IV of who to kill.

I loved the missions in IV where in the end of an mission you were given a choice to either kill or spare a person.

Then afterwards meeting them in an encounter on the street icon14.gif

I'm certain we will see these missions in V too.

id love some high speed intense car chases, especially though the desert or something like that, also big planning missions like robbing a train or cargo from somewhere with little build up missions for more information and then the big heist

This. icon14.gif

This is what i've been hoping for too, Using an assassin gear, maybe a suit or a long black leather coat with a black hat and sun glasses with a silenced pistol and maybe a tranquilizer or something to make it more interesting.

The fun part is planning how you're going to do the assassination, waiting for the perfect time in the cold, dark night, it could be from a window with a silenced sniper, or hidden in a bush. devil.gif

EDIT: Also, you're getting chased by a bunch of gang members or the cops, and someone is driving while you're shooting from the bike, going at top speed, going off-road to the mountains or alleys.

Yeah. Kinda like the assassination missions in GTA IV but improved.

GTA IV has a timed window, I'd rather they leave they window wide open. You can pick the day and time etc. If you wanted to, you could just tail the target for days. See their patterns etc.

Thus, you could rig the road with C4 to destroy him on his usual path? OR Kill him when he goes into a shop, a bathroom. Goes to sleep?

Open world should allow open world freedom in missions like that.

Im sick of errand missions. I hope its really done now with grand theft errand. So i hope there are a lot exciting missions true the whole game.

To be honest I think some of them are necessary to slowly build up. If the game was full on action from begining to end I don't think the missions would be as memorable. This is pretty much the case with Saints Row IMO. A majority of the missions are full on, but I can't really name any of them off by heart. To me it should be a gradual process. While GTA IV had a lot of filler I love how it slowly built itself up. At the start you dealt with street hoods/low level criminals and by the end you were working with one of the most powerful mafia families in the city.

With GTA V I can't see us whacking some random thug for a drug pusher, but we may have to run errands for ourselves. It's actually important to establish contacts aswell to gain their trust and it comes across as more believable that we'd do menial tasks for them than jumping into the action.

Anyway I'd like more riding shotgun missions like "Just Business" and 'Phnom Penh 86".

With the ability to switch protagonists in certain missions it would be cool if lets say during a heist as they're escaping the 3 have a role. Like Franklin is the getaway driver, Michael the shooter and Trevor throws grenades/moltovs at the pursuers and we can switch between them.

That's exactly how i feel about it too. Nothing but non stop action missions would not be the answer to this...thing. Errand missions in the early parts of the game are fine. I'm hoping that we'll get some early missions with Franklin where he either has to make drug deals (with several going sideways etc) or maybe going after them. This is the great thing about all the secrecy people..we have no idea what kind of missions we can expect. We know the big picture is all about heists but not what kind of general missions we can be expecting. Man i can't wait for the game.

One thing i'm a bit saddened about...is that GTA V probably won't receive big-ass DLC's like TLAD and TBOGT. Like i said, i'm replaying TLAD and i'm at around 8 hours now and still only at 65%. These GTA IV DLCs really ARE the length of a full game and in some cases double the length of some games, lmao. But i remember in a interview that Dan Houser said this wasn't going to happen for GTA V, i think the profit for the big DLC's for IV wasn't enough, wasn't it?

Even at the start of SA we still had to run errands. Personally I think they're very important to the flow of the story. I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't like it if at the start of GTA V if it was a heist from the get go.

The only way I would accept it in this regard if the whole opening sequence was actually apart of the final mission and then it goes back to "A few months ago" to the real begining or something.

Yep exactly, that would be really cool. It would definitely feel odd indeed if the very first mission is full blown action and that it keeps being like that. I already think the multiple protagonists thing brings a much needed change to GTA, but they shouldn't change and throw it all around, some stuff should stay as it always has been. But i have faith in Rockstar, they yet have to disappoint me with a GTA game and i really don't see that happening with this one or any GTA or any game of theirs for that matter cool.gif

By the way, Niko's quote in your signature is my favorite from GTA IV, that stuff was deep, and showed that at the end of the day..he was only human too biggrin.gif

Missions like Three Leaf Clover in Grand Theft Auto IV. That was just amazingly fun. With the ability to switch between characters, it would be even better.
