It has been stated, in the Game Informer preview, that girlfriends and romance wouldn't be returning in GTA V. So I voted no.

Girlfriends that are incorporated into the story, akin to the relationship between Louise Cassidy-Williams and Vic Vance in GTA Vice City Stories, seems likely though.

Yeah that's right. Obviously still leaves open the posibility of story driven girlfriends. The first thing we ever saw about GTAV (two characters on beach) are possibly Franklin and his girlfriend, as seen again in trailer 2.

As long as:

 

- the girls don't have our cellphone number

- they don't know our address

- we don't need to pick up flowers before meeting them

- we don't need to go bowling or eat together at clucking bells

You know, I really feel like the whole friend system coulda have worked if it just wasnt so annoying and if the benefits were much better.

 

My biggest gripe was you couldnt use some of them during missions.

GI says there'll be no romance but that doesn't really rule out already existing girlfriends that act as "friends" whom you do not have to go on dates with or do anything romantic with. The chick in the trailer could be Franklin's sister but we don't know. Michael has a wife, doubt they'll be giving him a girlfriend too. There's no way in hell Trevor has a girlfriend, I imagine he simply has sex with hookers, and then kills them.
