HOW'S ANNIE?
I'm not asking if you would want an exact replica of Claude from III, in a future game- but some point down the line would you like to see another GTA protagonist who does little (but some) talking and doesn't have his name menetioned? Kind of similar to the main character in Drive (for those who have seen it).
Mr_Leone
Claude wasn't really a character, he was...you. Whatever style of killer you wanted to be. I liked it personally, but it'd be a step back rather then a step forward. Besides, with all the resources Rockstar has they can do better then a voiceless character. Even if he seldom speaks, it wouldn't fit well. He can be a the silent type, but not obviously trying to not say anything, like...make sure he's vocal. Still, no, wouldn't work. JustRob
No. The only two reasons Claude did not have a voice is because it was too much work at that time, and because Claude was supposed to represent you (which failed by the way since everyone considers him to be his own character, and even Rockstar has acknowledged this). A silent protagonist simply wouldn't work these days, because people expect a certain standard from GTA, and that includes voice acting (well, for the console games at least). simonp92
No. Mute characters have little personality. R* were experimenting with GTA III, and they they've never looked back. Because the character didn't work aswell as a talking one. Another example of the mute character which got an overhaul is Jak from the Jak & Daxter Franchine. The whole first game he was mute, but early in the secound game they gave him a voice. The only games in which a mute main character works is with games likes The Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Algonquin Assassin
Not someone completely silent, but like Ryan Gosling's character in Drive who's a man of few words. Though I enjoy the depth of R*'s protagonists,. Going back to a shroud of mystery would take some getting used to.
Shoumaker
Since I played GTA III after both Vice City and San Andreas it felt odd when I played the game for the first time. So I would have to say no, it just didn't feel right for me.
MyDog
No. Recent GTAs have put more work into the protagonist and his development so making a new Claude would be a step back rather than step forward.
Space Cowboy
Back in late 90s/early 00s it wasn't neccessary for game protagonist to speak, but since Rockstar brought to us speaking characters it would be weird to come back to old system. Let's face it GTA III's story was simple, Claude did everything what he has been told to do there wasn't need to have a speaking character in this game same goes for GTA I, II. But if you look at GTA IV would you imagine Niko being mute/non-speaking characters...I'm sure, not.
FlyeThemoon
Maybe one speaking of tone like Adam Jensen from last Deus Ex ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E97qXsSKJUY Yeah RIP I never Ask for this
DarrinPA
Haha, I started a thread before V trailers came out asking if anybody wanted a mute - nobody did. I personally wouldn't mind if it's done correctly. It let's us be the character.
