JustRob
As most people know, Pastor Richards was a character in GTA Vice City who did not make as many appearances as was intended. Supposedly, his role was cut back because his voice actor, David Green, passed away during production. How is it then, that according to his IMDb profile, he participated in the movie Fur in 2006, four years after Vice City's release? I've tried searching Wikipedia on David Green, but there are a lot of them and I'm not sure who it is, or if he's even among them. So I think we should get this cleared up; Just who is this David Green, and did he pass away or not?
Andreaz1
I have Googled around for him a lot and I can't find anything about at all. The only page about him I can find is that one on IMDB. It says he was in an episode of Law and Order in 2004, I looked that episode up and unless I got the character wrong or something I think it really sounds like him as well. I have no idea where the rumour that he passed away started but unless someone finds a reliable source for it I am going to say it's fake.
JustRob
But if he hasn't passed away, then why was he removed from Vice City? Just what happened during the production?
Andreaz1
What is to say he was removed? If the part about David Green passing away was made up then maybe the part about Pastor Richards being cut from the game was too.
JustRob
Why would they make that up? And if Richards was never intended to have a big role, why include him in Cortez's party?
Zee
Thats extremely strange. I had always thought he was cut from the game because the actor died.

Dragonjack
I hope rockstar have a q&a like they did with the GTA 3 anniversary so we can get the answers we need. I agree on this and there is many answers that lies behind Rockstar Games about this. But seriously? I didn't even know the man sadly and I reckon he could be very well alive today or not, who knows right now. EDIT* I couldn't find a David Green aswell. Andreaz1
Here is what I did: I took some audio from Vice City, and some from the Law and Order episode. I put them together to compare the voices from Pastor Richards and the David Green who starred in the episode. Have a listen, I think they are pretty similar. Especially the way that David Green says "hang my hat on" in the last part. http://yourlisten.com/channel/content/1694...Pastor_Richards Edited January 8, 2013 by Andreaz1
JustRob
Sounds a lot like him. I think we can assume it's the same guy.
Wottaz
You do realize that most shows are pre-recorded? It is entirely possible that he died having already recorded his parts in some shows, like he did in Vice City. Honestly if the guy was still alive I am sure there would be more information on him as (i'm just putting this out there) he would of done a lot more work. As for the questioning over whether or not he would of had a bigger role in the game? I am 90% sure he had a larger role in the game to play; Everybody else on the Cortez's Boat Party who was named by Mercedes was involved in at least direct conversation/at least one mission play with Tommy at some stage. Just because you can't find something on google doesn't mean its a "Mystery". How did people like you guys manage before Google?

Yeah, cause them making the episode and then waiting 2 years before airing it on TV makes a lot of sense. Oh, and the film it says he appeared in was released in 2006. Honestly if the guy was still alive I am sure there would be more information on him as (i'm just putting this out there) he would of done a lot more work. Why would he have to have done a lot more work? How many people who want to be actors go on to have a massively successful career? Why does acting have to be anybody's only full time job? In fact, unless you go on to be a massive Hollywood star, you probably won't even be able to support yourself as an actor. Also, what is to say he didn't just decide to quit acting? As for the questioning over whether or not he would of had a bigger role in the game? I am 90% sure he had a larger role in the game to play; Everybody else on the Cortez's Boat Party who was named by Mercedes was involved in at least direct conversation/at least one mission play with Tommy at some stage. I'm not sure I follow your definition of a "bigger role". BJ Smith was only seen in a cutscene measuring less than one minute when purchasing Sunshine Autos. He also had one or two commercials on the radio. The full version of VCPR goes on for over 80 minutes. Considering there were three parts to it, Pastor Richards was on the air for over 25 minutes, on top of the two or three commercials he had. Just because you can't find something on google doesn't mean its a "Mystery". How did people like you guys manage before Google? I was 4 years old when Google was founded so I didn't even know what the Internet was back then but I fail to see how that is relevant. Feel free to dig up some info yourself. You make it sound like it's easy.
BlueCyberDemon
I will like to talk about Pastor Richards... The guy is crazy, building a static that puts his face on... About he said saying "Evil doers" & "Nuclear Winter *or what ever he says*" its just like its End of the world, he just want to fool people of Vice City to eat there money
leper73
A mission would have been cool, having to battle his cult. I would have also liked to have seen this statue as a landmark in Vice City. Maybe a mission where you blow it up as it launches into space (the cinematic could be reminiscent of the Challenger disaster, which also happened in 1986). 41hc1
I asked them about this on a mouthoff email, and they told me they were going to consider it for a future edition of their Asked and Answered. Its been a almost a year since the last one. They told me they don't announce them ahead of time, yet on this article: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/arti....html/#comments they announced one ahead of time. Korpi
I saw David Green in two episodes of ER from the 90's. He sounded a bit like Pastor Richards, but not quite. But that's just because he obviously used a bit of a different tone of voice for Pastor Richards. Vice City is my favorite Grand Theft Auto videogame, obviously, and I'd really like R* to give us an in depth answer about the mystery of Pastor Richards/David Green. 41hc1, I'm glad that you asked them about this - there might be a somewhat more of a chance for them to answer this question. My fellow VC fans, let's hope so. Edited March 17, 2013 by Markwey
41hc1
Hopefully they'll do the next one soon. If they're not announcing events, or giving info about GTA V, then they can't at least do an Asked and Answered?

As someone who used to lurk on here before I joined, I can state 100% that Pastor Richards was somebody mentioned prior to the games release who we would get missions off. I'm sure others will back me up/can find previews stating it - but I'm being honest here .
