Why does the GTAIII outfit look so sh*t?

They could have put some more effort in it. Hell, if you look closely at the back you can even slightly see the Albanian logo, which just shows that it was a hasty recolor rather then anything original. Also, the jacket doesn't look like the one from GTAIII at all. Claude's jacket was puffy, open at the collar, and didn't have a silver zipper. This jack is slim and closed at the color.

I really wish Rockstar would put in a bit more effort when paying homage to past GTA games. sad.gif

No actually it was not, if it was then it would actually look like Claude's outfit, which it doesn't.

Its just an Easter egg that not everyone will discover. Its really pedantic to ask for a 1:1 replication of the jacket when we're lucky to get it at all. Not to mention that it would take up disk space to have an individual model.

Actually there is a jacket from Modo (I think) which looks exactly like Claude's jacket. It's open at the collar, it's puffy, and it doesn't have some Albanian logo. Only it's not available in black, the closest you can get is a dark green version with a tiny red logo on it and an orange undershirt.

If they had just reused that model for the GTAIII outfit, it would've been a lot better. I'd rather not have a GTAIII outfit at all then a crappy one that was made up in a few minutes.

Again, is it really that important?

At a glance, its close enough. Having every single detail like the collar. You can barely see the Albanian logo on the back, I didn't notice until a few hours in. They probably thought it would be cool to throw in near the end of development and we're lucky to get a throwback like that at all. If it bothers you that much, don't use it.

Also, can you post a picture of the jacket you're talking about, so we can see whether they're different or not? The one in IV has the right texture and look of the old one, I think the one you're talking about is too shiny.

Hence "Easter Egg" it isn't meant to be truly identical. Only as a reference to the first 3D GTA, GTA III.

I can't say I've ever noticed it has an Albanian logo. Who cares? It was close enough to be an obvious throwback to Claude's GTA III outfit.

I don't know, but GTA IV gets complaints for the most insigificant of reasons at times. confused.gif

Complete with fingerless gloves? Nice.

If you want it bad I can put up a download later today, but you should know that this modification ruins the Albanian outfit. Because both the Albanian outfit and the GTAIII outfit use the same jacket, they use the same model. And obviously the Albanian jacket texture looks like crap on this jacket model because it wasn't made for that.

If you don't care about that then it should be fine.

I've always thought it looks better on Claude not because the clothes, but because Claude's body is fitter! tounge2.gif

I modded the jacket I was talking about to have a black texture and replaced it with the GTAIII outfit jacket. Doesn't this look way better?

I wonder how long it took you to get the screenshots together just to make the point that I want old stuff in a new game.

All of gta4 is like that. The game reeks of "good-enough" and low effort. Its the worst game rockstars out out this generation.

Oh, really? I mean, really?

(Although that is a Team Bondi game more than a R* game, so its debatable)

Considering that R*'s other games this gen are Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3, that's not really an insult on IV.

Although it's way off topic I didn't think LA Noire was that bad. The story structure was a bit bizarre, but I appreciate how ambitious R*/Team Bondi were creating such a unique game. Sadly it's a bit like R*'s Mafia II. One of those games that create a divide because people simply didn't understand it entirely.

Apart from TBOGT which IMO is overrated to hell I haven't had any issues with any of R*'s current gen games. They're all remarkable.

L.A Noire as you've already said wasn't made by rockstar, so yeah, IV is the worst this gen IMO

Holy sh*t, I thought Table Tennis was from the ps2 era, lol, I retire my words about IV, but it's a close second though ph34r.gifph34r.gif

I actually respect LA Noire a whole lot, I admire what Bondi were trying to do. It certainly was unique and trying something new, which I respect. Ultimately, it doesn't stop it being a pretty poor game overall though.

And, oh, I understand Mafiyawn 2 entirely perfectly, thank you very much.

Yeah, LA Noire was pretty bad. I actually fell asleep playing it once, no joke. But, it's not without its charm. The people in LA Noire are a lot more tolerable than the annoying cheezy vagina peds of GTAIV. Give me the serious peds from LA Noire/RDR any day.

And yes, TBOGT was overrated. It has the worst story of any grand theft auto game.
