BUT THE BENZ

It's a simple "black & white" yes-or-no vote. Feel free to post your thoughts below. I no longer want to repeatedly tap the pedal to the metal and so I'd like to see cruise control implemented. I think it would be really cool to have it in V - Who else here would appreciate such an optional mechanic in the game?

I really like IV's cars handling and all. Doesn't seem to be everyone's cup of tea but I dig that realistic acceleration aspect and so on. Drivin around in my car while listening to the radio, just checking out the environment and people, I've spent hours doing that in IV. I just "dislike" the fact that I can't keep a steady pace, like say, 2 miles an hour. So what I'm asking for is an optional mechanic that would allow to keep your pace steady, kind of like in RDR. There you could hold the acceleration button for a while and then you would ride along another character at steady pace. That's how it worked right? That is some kind of cruise control. It was tied to another A.I.'s pace but I'm sure R* could work around that.

People had the idea of an option that allows you to manually shift gears. Aside from the necessity of such mechanic, it would require a button to perform that action and I think practically all buttons already have certain functions attached. That's what I took from people's comments at least. For cruise control you wouldn't need an extra button. The acceleration button could be used for it. Like, you're tapping the button in a certain combination and the mechanic kicks in. For example a really quick triple tap, "tap-tap-tap," and then you hear a "CLICK" or whatever and cruise control is locked on. Just hit the acceleration button again anytime you want and it locks off. RDR had it already, almost, sort of...know what I mean?

SA had the most beautiful and interesting map a GTA title ever offered IMO. I would totally dig it if I was able to cruise around and just enjoy the scenery, Los Santos in the HD era, without having to tap the gas like my character has a nasty twitch in his foot or whatever. Noone would drive like that, using stutter-acceleration to keep steady pace that is. That driving style uses off gasoline really fast.

So who else here would appreciate CRUISE CONTROL? I think it's not too much to ask for, "kind of" easy to implement and it would add a great bit to the LAIDBACK-factor that comes with GTA titles, when you just cruise around and listen to the radio. I made the poll to see who else would be interested in that. Can't imagine that I'm the only one thinking it would be great to have.

They had a cruise control in Midnight Club LA I think. I cant really remember anymore. But I presume they did, so it wouldn't be hard to implant that system in GTA V.

That being concluded because both Rockstar North and Rockstar San Diego worked on RDR. So I guess they have a pretty good work relationship. (Midnight club made by Rockstar San Diego)

They needed in IV you drove no faster than 25mph even on highways, yes they need cause by the look of it the AI still looks the same

Midnight Club LA had cruise control, but it was forced, which wasn't fun.

There should be a button to switch it on or off.

It should be in the game. As a PC-gamer, was it very hard to shoot at cars who were driving at a certain speed while driving a car.

When we press the forward button, the cars just keep speeding until they reach the max (or crash...). Cruise control would be a perfect solution.

I voted no.

I dont need it, probably would never use it. The only time I would use it is on the highway or long country roads, but even they both have turns, and I like to go as fast as possible, so i'd never find a perfect speed where I could go fast, but not fly off the road on a sharp curve.

BUT THE BENZ

I'd mostly use cruise control for a slow ride, when I find the time to chill and take it easy. I'd drive at 10 mph or so. I wanna cruise, not speed.

Seems criuse control is winning, I for one, want it aswell! Sometimes I just wanna role play, chill out, and drive around while listening to the radio. R*, take note!

You could play with a controller on your PC. That way you can mildly squeeze the trigger and drive at a steady pace. Like a real gas pedal.

I don't find it hard to keep a slow controlled speed so I don't think it's necessary.

The triggers on the controllers are perfectly suited to controlled driving, you just pump the gas huh...

Srsly though, even with a controller you can't keep the engine flat while remaining the same speed, or can you? I wouldn't know

I'd never use it. Most cruise control doesn't work until 40kmh in real life. It isn't too hard to keep an average pace with the Xbox trigger.

I guess it'd be OK, but the "SR had it first" thought would always tickle the back of my mind.

Just thinking about how nice this would be. Chances are I'll be cruising on the highway a lot, and I'm the type of gamer who likes to drive normal sometimes, though hit the gas whenever it's right too. I'm sure if I'm driving something fast I'd rather have no cruise control because it would be a funner way to enjoy that car, but if I'm driving a Serrano, Tornado, that luxury saloon from Trailer 2, etc, it would be awesome to use cruise control. Set it around the speed of the traffic, maybe a bit lower or a bit higher and just cruise along the highway systems. And I'm sure V will have good freeways, it wouldn't be CA without a good amount of huge freeway networks. Hopefully one goes from the city, to country, then heads to city again.

Cruise control would be perfect for this. I assume there would be around 15-25 miles of freeways, if not more, so it might get a bit tiring to be pressing on the control for so long.

...which is exactly why it would feel weird to have GTA adopt a feature that a wannabe introduced first. Comprende? Or do I need to draw you a fricking map?

Analogue trigger.

They allow you to accelerate however much you want to.

So, about half pressed, you'd just maintain your current speed etc. It was read handy for those mustang type cars when taking corners etc.

Playing with a Keyboard and Mouse.. bah, That just unimaginable to me for a game like GTA V, Analogue triggers are so important.

Thanks for letting us down.. Yes, I'm looking at you, Wii U!

Yes, I think cruise control would be very useful feature, not just for driving like a human, but also for drive-bys (a lot easier to shoot if you don't have to worry about feathering the gas)

As for your suggestion worrying about, I always suggested using the alternate handbrake as a sort of opener for a vehicle keys menu. For example, on 360 it would be (all of them as toggles, so you don't need to hold them down):

HOLD X + D-PAD UP - SHIFT UP

HOLD X + D-PAD DN - SHIFT DN

HOLD X + D-PAD LEFT - LEFT TURN SIGNAL

HOLD X + D-PAD RIGHT - RIGHT TURN SIGNAL

HOLD X + PRESS B - ACTIVATE CRUISE CONTROL

HOLD X + PRESS Y - CONVERTIBLE ROOF UP/DOWN OR POLICE RADIO TO NORMAL RADIO TOGGLE

^no convertible police cars, so no worries^

HOLD X + PRESS A - HAZARD LIGHTS

Cutter De Blanc

I'd only want it in certain cars, or maybe you could install it on any car at a Transfender or something, I just don't see a car like the Bandito having a cruise control function as a stock installation, y'know?

No you don't need to draw me a picture. IMO it has nothing to do with "who did it first?", it's a question of "who does it right?" and simply "would people want it?"

I guess if you'd be head of the development department at R* they could never introduce new mechanics to the series that have been used in other games. Oh wait....was there horse riding in RDR? That has been in Zelda too hasn't it? Damn R* shame on you, REALLY.

Or is that "problem" of yours just SR-related? Can R* never do anything SR did first? Would balls be busted and bubbles burst like dreams?

Try to see it from this point of view: without GTA -> no SR -> without SR -> no cruise control....so it all goes back to the creator in the end.

Shallow and pedantic views you got there mate....how dare you let such view on things ruin a possibly more satisfying GTA experience?!....

This is hilarious. You're behaving as if I said "No! They can't do that! SR did it first!" Maybe read my post again, Einstein.

I'd be ok with it, but it would have to have a minimum speed for it.

I would use it only if I was driving across the map on a highway. In real life I rarely use cruise control, and when I have it's been on long distance trips.
