Kifflom112
I will. Here's what I will do. Once I get pass all of the mission stuff and get to Michael, I'll pause and look at the map for a little bit, then turn it off in HUD. Then I'll get into Michael's 9F or Sentinel or whatever I find that is nice. I'll work my way to a freeway(which shouldn't be had) and then head either north or east, out of the city for a trip, not knowing where the hell I'll go. ill-thoughts
after about 5 hours, i should have it all memorized to the point where i wont look at the map at all. Sure you will. lol once you understand the farthest point north vs farthest point south vs farthest point east vs farthest point west, memorizing areas and locales based on that symmetry is fairly easy . having a North signal ever present on the mini-map helps ALOT with geographical realization as you always know where the North Point is and how it relates to where you currently are. the first HOUR of my gameplay with GTA5 will be spent traveling all over Los Santos, photographing in my memory every area as it relates to the northern point and in about 5 hours, i will not need the mini map at all ofcourse Living for a time in LA, mapping it IRL as well as previously mapping LA Rush, GTA:SA, LA Noire and Midnight Club LA will also make the realization of GTA5 easier to me than it would be to one who has no experience with the city whatsoever
Sokocfc
In gta iv the gps had its issues but, if you were to travel faster than a pedestrian you couldnot use it. Just take a look at the actual map and figure out a quick and efficient way on your own.
upyoustolemylungs
I know that as soon as I get done playing the first missions, I am going to turn off the map and just drive around with all three characters. It's going to be the best thing that has happened to me since my pet chinchilla took his first sh*t!!
EvilFuture
Two points, First the map is going to be what, like 2 to 3 times the size of RDR's map Second, unless I misunderstood, the whole map will be available from the start. It might be kinda hard without a map for the first bit of the game imo That's the whole point! You are deliberately trying to lose yourself. EDIT: Only for general free roam though Not on topic, but is that a LOG reference in your sig?
Shadowfox_
Lol what I'm doing is using Michael and getting in a helicopter then find a place far away from civilization where I can skydive. Then I'l turn off the map and find my way towards civilization without any help whatsoever and I might even convince a friend to join me or something! leeradio13
i didn't know we could turn off the mini map in gta4, how do you do that?
TNAEnigma
Good idea man, I won't turn it off in the begginig because it is probably starting with the mission, but when I take a brake from missions and go on freeroam, I will totally do what you "advided" me to do, just to take the atmosphere in
thebestgameever
No HUD (no map) Best ENB available Headphones First person view Walking down a street in a game has NEVER felt soo immersive, all in IV, just an incredible.
Death2Drugs
There was actually an article on Kotaku about this (can't find it) and they agreed that this is true. I've done this myself with IV. It makes the game much more better!
bobdude100
Assassins Creed 3 I never really use the map now. I just like getting lost, stumbling across forts, and them random redcoats fighting patriots.
Rayken
Haha op you read my mind. Me and by best friend have been planing this for a long time. GTAV comes out- freemode, auyo aim off, hud off, mini map off, and go get lost! My biggest problem with gta is i learn the map to well and too quick. I mean in any gta from gta3 lc, vc, sa, gtaiv i know off by heart and never ever look at the mini map or regular map. It so brutal that my friends call me map quest in gta and even in real life lol its good and bad. Good is i know every friken alley to escape through without thinking. Bad is that after 6 months of gtaiv i knew the whole map. there wasnt much exploring left So my sole purpose with gtaV is to avoid learning the map and try and get lost as much as possible. Im even going as far as only exploring bits of the map a week so there is always a place i havent been lol i say to anyone to do this!
Marlo-Lionches
I might do this, but how do i disable the map? Never even knew we co do that?
azali10
ok, a simple map, a reliable compass, some water proof matches and a knife. Survial mode, find your way back to civilization w/o dyin. Wouldnt that be awesome, even add leaderbords for fastest time. Only if it's a side activity that you activate by pressing a button while standing in a marker. Not automatic, that would kind of suck. I wouldn't want to go into survival mode when just trying to explore. I doubt there's going to be any area of the game world where you aren't going to be within close walking distance of a road. thought about that too, but hey its just an idea...better then zombies No. See with zombies you get all of that survival sh*t, with the added bonus of zombies. At least you'll have something to use the knife on.
