On this forum, with the general community he seems to be pretty popular..definitely not "disliked"

Let's be real, Trevor is really liked because he lets us player vent our frustrations on the populace of Los Santos through heavy machinery :p

While Trevor isn't the brightest he at least has a sense of humor.

For full disclosure I haven't played Advance and I've barely touched the Stories games, but I don't expect that would change anything. Mike, Toni and Vic aren't hyped up much in general.

Anyway, I ultimately voted for Claude. Maybe it's silly since it's not uber-popular but I still view him as a bit overrated in that there's a bunch who pretend he isn't a non-entity, basically.

I will also admit my usual distaste for the "silent protagonist" thing comes into it, particularly since I feel that GTA 3/Claude fans sometimes oversell the up-sides of having one.

The reason I like Claude, and prefer a silent protagonist is because of 2 reasons. The first being it's easier for the player to project their personality into Claude. And the second is that while I can see why having 'depth' is important to some, but I prefer to just use my imagination. It makes for a more interesting game when things are left to open interpretations.

To me it felt moot with Claude as he still does choices on his own. It works in RPG games but not in a linear story game like GTA. I myself am not fond of Claude simply because despite the fact he doesn't have much personality if any at all, his most defining traits are that he's disloyal, greedy and doesn't give a sh*t about anyone. And for that reason I'm not the biggest fan of Toni either. But this is purely my thing, everyone else is entitled to think the way they want about them.
