DYOM V7 Sound Tutorial

Recommended Posts

I Split this tutorial from the beta topic into a seperate topic, as I think it will be really useful to many people and thus deserves it's own topic.

Great tutorial Arejai.. icon14.gificon14.gifcookie.gif

Note:

On the numbering used for the soundfiles: The idea is that the number of the files refers to objective you will have to achieve when this sound is playing, it's played at the time the

text for that objective is played too. So you should not think of sounds playing after a certain objective, but of them playing alongside the text for the next objective.

Yea, that's right. I'll add some annotations on the video.

Btw, thanks Patrick. biggrin.gif

Is it possible to make a sound in objective 2 play until (more than 3)

Example = Objective 1 ---> Objective 2 ---> After Objective 2 done (Objective 3) (play sound) ---> Objective 4 (still play) ---> Objective 5 (still play) ---> After objective 5 done (Objective 6) (music stop)

You can use ambient sound and pause it.

Hmm.. for one of my missions i want to enter a warehouse and music to play. Its objective 10. Theres around 10 guys to kill before moving onto the next room, the problem i'm having is: the music only seems to play for about 2 seconds and then goes off. How do i solve this? The nusic is a 4 minute long track with an echo effect added.

What's the objective that we need to kill the enemies? If it's 11, then try '11.mp3'. wink.gif

Are you using window 7? If the file is 'mp3', then just rename it to 'am'. Try it.

Btw, thanks Dutchy. biggrin.gif

I am designing my first mission for Designer's Chronicles and I am using ambient sound, the problem I have is with pausing it. I create a text document and name it to .noa, problem is the sound does not pause because of an invisible .txt at the end. So it is like 19.noa.txt. What did I do wrong??

Edit: I think I see what I did wrong tounge.gif

Btw, if anyone's interested. I made a folder with 100 .noa files so I don't have to create them everytime. If you want them, here's the link.

Thank you so much! Ever since i've been using sounds it's so annoying to make many .noa
