Pyrrhic
No one really knows. It's been joked it will be ready by 2092 but obviously it's not going to be that far away. I've heard educated guesses by members of staff that it will be ready in 2-5 years. It's gonna be a long wait either way....
Andreas
It's maybe nitpicking but the new forum software won't be Invision Power Board. It's a from scratch built new forum software - GTANet V2! It's created from GTANet for GTANet. The new software won't be here in at least the next couple of years. There is no exact window of when it will happen but don't expect it anytime soon. Spider-Vice
In a few years or so. GTANet v1.5 will come first, I'd imagine it will still be IPB but with some stuff changed. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Ryan
Ok, im a newbie into this forum version stuff! and actually quite interested, so would anyone explain to me what all this version thing is and how it works? Well, the forum has been running off of this software for over 10 years now and it's barely functioning still. V2 or version two is the replacement for this software. It's a custom coded forum by the GTAF staff which has been in the works and rumored to be just around the corner for years. When it will arrive nobody knows. Hopefully some time within the next 10 years.

Suction Testicle Man
We have several projects in the pipeline for next year, though none of them will involve Invision Power software. If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.

Would it be OK to tell us what some of the projects are? We find it interesting to know what's in store for us and the website in general.

They don't even show the progress of V2 even though some people from some gangs here know more than you or I do but that's exclusive for them. We, as normal members in the membergroup, won't know what and when something happens until it actually happens. I guess surprises aren't that bad, still I'm sure many people would love to know what the next "big thing" will be for GTANet. However, I'm sure they can do a better job than Google+YouTube when it comes to rolling out new things and responding to issues in a professional manner. I trust that they won't sacrifice a good user interface with a sh*tty user interface, and then a sh*tty user interface with an even sh*ttier one. I'm confident that they're better than that. Still, I don't think a little insight and "sneak peeks" would be a bad thing for anyone.
Adriaan
Nice to see everyone excited about future plans for the forum. Like STM said above, in the new year . adamcs and I were discussing ideas and features for both GTAV.net and the forum last night that we think people will love. Perhaps you guys have more ideas on what we could be doing in the months ahead leading up to release, and ultimately once the game is out?

The admins have worked hard to preserve the look and feel of the current forum. You won't feel alienated at all. Perhaps you guys have more ideas on what we could be doing in the months ahead leading up to release, and ultimately once the game is out? A GTAV.net forum skin. That's already in the works and I believe it will also act as the default skin on V1.5.

Shoumaker
That's already in the works and I believe it will also act as the default skin on V1.5. I'm guessing that V1.5 will be an updated version of the IPB? STM just said that they have several projects for next year, although none of them will involve Invision Power software. I'm guessing V1.5 will also come at 2014 at the quickest. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If I had to guess an ETA for V1.5, I'd say Spring 2013, but don't hold me to that.

I hope not, a GTAV.net fourm skin would be cool but I don't really like the colour (green). I want this to remain as the default skin, I'm way too used to it. As for people saying the forums are old, they say they're old because the forum has been running on this same software for over 10 years now. Girish
I do want a +1 system for posts, though. Have to agree with you there. It would definitely help curb the '+1' and 'this' posts that are really unnecessary and inconsequential to the flow of discussion. We generally remind members not to make such posts, but given the level of activity in the V forums, there's only so much we can do. Thankfully, Tank is working something out. Like I said, it's being worked out still. I'm not sure how it'll be implemented so that it isn't abused but the admins will figure something out. We could probably set a minimum post limit before you can upvote other posts so that registering a new account would be futile.

We could probably set a minimum post limit before you can upvote other posts so that registering a new account would be futile. But then wouldn't certain people just spam up threads with the new account so they can "+1" their post? Also, I'd just like to note that whatever you do with the forum, keep the simplicity. GTAF runs quick for me, very simple and easy to use, yet on another forum I've been on, the owners put loads of fancy crap on it and when I want to use it on my PS3 it feels like a chore.
