I'm hoping they go far enough to include the drop from the edge of the continents where the shelves just drop hundreds of feet, would be awesome to explore a massive ocean canyon.

That could be the part that signifies the end of the hand-crafted portion of the underwater terrain. Like, you have all the stuff along the coastline up to that continental shelf where it drops, then the rest of it is just flat and generated as you go outward. Seems like a pretty convenient natural boundary.

Hopefully the submarine will have a spawn code, so that I can spawn it on top of a rooftop and while inside it drop down from the building into the ocean...that's the first thing I want to do tounge.gif

Do you think it's possible they might do the old trick of "exit the left of the map and re-enter on the right".

Don't think GTA has ever used that trick, but I'm fairly sure it's been used in a lot of other games.

Graphics don't look that good imo, but the screens are nice anyway.

I have to agree I'm not particularly impressed with the draw distance to be honest I am not impressed with the overall graphical value. And some screens lead me to think the typical "LA vibe" isn't present.

The game is still in development

Oh god these screens look legit..

Confirming the confirmed I suppose.. They said there would be wildlife but I didn't imagine SHARKS! I'm glad to see they're really putting their all the detail every inch of this map. I'm hoping they go far enough to include the drop from the edge of the continents where the shelves just drop hundreds of feet, would be awesome to explore a massive ocean canyon.

Can you imagine getting your window shot out from your submarine while extremely deep? Will you pop from the change in pressure? biggrin.gif

Oh god that reminds me of an episode of 1000 Ways To Die... barf8bd.gif But no nothing would happen I don't think. That only happens when you transition from high pressure to low pressure, your body literally explodes lol. Maybe if you swim to the surface too fast you can die, just as you normally would due to getting The Benz.

I'm also super excited about that military pilot flying the jet next to Trevor's plane. Its our first look at the military inlove.gif

I dunno, I wasn't talking so much about the game's actual boundary so much as when the "hand-crafted" portion of the underwater terrain makes way to the flat, procedurally generated portion when you get to the infinitely spawning water, and making the point that the continental shelf, where there's a steep cliff down into the abyss below, is a pretty good point for that.

As for the actual map boundaries, I think that's a slightly off-topic discussion but I suppose that could work. Since R* have never done it before I wouldn't expect it, though.

Ehh, what we see is pretty much what we're gonna get. However, I find the criticisms of GTA V's graphics to be a bit odd. It's the same generation as GTA IV, and it's a f*cking huge map. Open world games are never going to look as good as its peer linear games, and you have to judge them by those merits. I think GTA V looks f*cking amazing for an open world game, especially one of its size and scope, just like RDR does.

What's up with that dog collar? Dat dog gay? I ain't playin' no gay dog! /whitekid

That black chick from the trailer (who we assume is Franklin's sister/girlfriend/wife probably put it on him because she thought made him look cute...

I hope the graphics whores are just trolling... anyway the screen with the voodoo is quite ugly because of tons of aliasing but when we see the trailer 2 which is fully in-game footage from consoles we can be sure that the game will be epic.

For a game that's running on the same hardware as IV, and using the same graphics engine, I'm more than impressed.

Can't wait what it will look like after it's maxed out with a graphics mod on PC.

Yeah, that will probably be great.

I'm just hoping that the blimp in the background of the aircraft picture will be on the list of planes when can fly.

...because flying blimps is gotta be sooo exciting... dozingoff.gifsarcasm.gif

In multiplayer/free roam it will be useful.

The best part about these new screens is that the submarine is YELLOW. "sky of blue and sea of green"...

I love how Rockstar always leave one flaw on the modified screenshots.

What makes you think they ever modify screenshots?

They have always edited their screenshots, take a look at these 2 official screenshots:

What's edited? It looks like two shots taken in sequence. The car lighting changes because of Claude's muzzle flash when he turns and shoots the guys shooting at him in the first screen.

You beat me to it.

Plus, it's GTA III, not V.

The first screen has jaggy edges, just like on the final version.

The second screen doesn't, it's all soft, but that's clearly not anti-alising, it was made with an image editor.

Plus, it's GTA III, not V.

And this only proves that Rockstar have been sneaky bastards for years.

Um did anybody see the snow in the picture with the car? I think thats snow covering the sidewalks!

It's California, most likely it's cocaine.

Wonder what 'Logger' is along with the axe sign? Maybe a bar?

Well, them and every other games company. They're hardly the worst.
