Lelouch The Zero

I created this topic because there was no Anime ones, so I said hell why not? In this topic you can talk about any Anime show you recently watched or what Manga you have recently read. You can also post pictures of the show if you like. Or maybe if their is a favorite character you like, post a picture of it and the name of the Anime the character is from. It can be Sub or Dub, whichever. I'll post the shows I've recently been watching:

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_Geass

Bleach (currently airing on Toonami)

Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan (currently airing on Toonami)

and if you have a MyAnimeList account, link your MAL if you'd like so other people can see what anime you've been watching and give others opportunities to watch other anime as well. This is my MAL: http://myanimelist.net/profile/DarkEsper

I'm a big Anime/Manga fan, hell I'm staff for a convention here in the North East called OneCon.

My favourite is a show called Neon Genesis Evangelion, mecha show with a heavy dose of mind-f*cking thrown in there. I went into it not knowing anything about the whole mind-f*ckery side of things and was blown away. It's a beautiful show if not somewhat dated now.

Beyond that over the last year I got into a show called Darker Than Black which is set in the aftermath of a strange artifact landing on earth leading to the birth of what are known as Contractors, people with special abilities but when they use them they must pay some sort of price. The characters were interesting in the first season and it had a strong plot, I'm looking forward to seeing the 2nd and OVA.

I also finally watched Gurren Lagann this year which was ridiculous, over the top and utterly brilliant, definitely recommend to anyone out there.

I started watching animes only recently so there isn't a whole lot that I've watched. First anime was Death Note. Got recommended by my cousin and was instantly hooked on it. I loved it. Even though it went a little downhill during the middle. After that I watched Elfen Lied. Great show, tragic story and lots of blood and nudity. I read the Elfen Lied manga next which imo is better than the anime.

After that I watched Monster. Its one of the most underrated animes ever. I f*cking loved it. Great story, characters and pacing. And Johan is the best antagonist ever.

Then I watched Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Great anime, disturbing story. And the characters were funny too. I loved Rena Ryugu. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai (the second season) wasn't as good as the first one but it wrapped some of the things from before. Rei (the 3rd season) and Kira (the 4th season) were just plain silly. I mean, seriously, magical swimming trunks? Lol! I still enjoyed them as I loved visiting the characters once more.

After that I couldn't decide what to watch. Code Geass or Fullmetal Alchemist. I decided to go with Code Geass and I can say that its the most f*cking awesome anime ever!!!! Awesome story and characters. f*cking love this anime and I watched it again after watching it. I loved Lelouch and especially C.C. I love her!!! inlove.gif

After that I watched School Days. Slow and boring anime with a f*cked up ending. It was okay, nothing special.

Now I am currently watching Fullmetal Alchemist which is looking awesome!!!

I watched a bit of Death Note, One Piece, Naruto; you know the usual popular choices - very good series. I don't really follow them anymore and even when I did watch them I just caught them when I could but didn't really actively watched and followed closely.

I actually got into the 'shoujo-esque' genre of anime about school, slice of life stuff, romance comedy stuff. I really liked it and only started watching it about 8 months in of 1st year of university 'cause I was still really missing high school and that atmosphere. The 'groups' of people, friends, teachers, school work and the relationships and all that jazz, just makes me nostalgic of my secondary schooling, miss it a lot.

I just started watching Inuyasha: The Final Act and it's very confusing. What are those green crystals people seem to have? How many incarnations does Naraku have anyway?

Bump.

It's been a while since anyone posted in my thread, so I'm going to bump it.

I've been watching Neon Genesis Evangelion lately, I've watched 12 episodes already and it's great. I plan to watch the rebuild movies once I'm finished with the anime itself as well.

I've also updated the OP so it wouldn't be outdated.

My favorite anime of all time is hands down Rurouni Kenshin, in fact I can still watch that on Crackle (Xbox app). I used to love watching a bunch of others too including Inuyasha, Case Closed, Lupin the Third and Trigun.

Okay, so.. I'm not really an anime fan. But apparently, a lot of people on this website love anime. I don't know what makes it so good besides the writing and the drawing. If anyone has any suggestions, please reply below. I just don't want something far fetched and mainstream like Dragon ball Z or Naruto. I want something that's realistic and has a good story.

And I also want it to have good action scenes in it. Any recommendations?

Action Animes are not really known for usually being ultra realistic, just like action movies and TV shows, but for good action I'd highly recommend Yu Yu Hakusho, Hajime No Ippo and Tenjou Tenge. I've never seen Sword Art Online but have had friends tell me it's amazing, same with Attack on Titan. The original Dragon Ball (Not Z) has some really good martial arts style fights that aren't overly ridiculous with all the ki blasts and sh*t like that. Fullmetal Alchemist is a great action anime as well.

@Xyn. Holy sh*t, that's a badass list you got there. I'll have to check some of those out.

Might be too mainstream to mention, or perhaps I'm just old, but, Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star are two well written action based anime's that I liked a lot.

I just began watching Cowboy Bepop. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I'll check out the others that Xyn posted above another time, but Cowboy Bepop has me drawn in. Good show. Funny, but it isn't trying so hard to be edgy and stuff. I've watched about 3 episodes so far, so I may be interested.

Two words:

Bubblegum Crisis.

2v92gs1.jpg

BGC_OVA.png

It's an 8 episode (1987 - 1991) cult classic OVA (original video animation) cyberpunk series.

This happens to be my personal favorite anime ever.

And of the things I love about BGC is the kickass soundtrack.

From wikipedia:

"The series begins in the late 2032, seven years after the Second Great Kanto Earthquake has split Tokyo geographically and culturally in two. During the first episode, disparities in wealth are shown to be more pronounced than in previous periods in post-war Japan.
The main antagonist is Genom, a megacorporation with immense power and global influence. Its main product are boomers - cyberdroids used for manual labor and military purposes. While Boomers are intended to serve mankind, they become deadly instruments in the hands of ruthless individuals. The AD Police are tasked to deal with Boomer-related crimes. One of the series' themes is the inability of the department to deal with threats due to political infighting, red tape, and an insufficient budget.
The Knight Sabers are an all-female mercenary team and have considerable combat abilities using highly advanced suits of powered armor. They battle against long odds to overcome grave threats throughout the OVA series and preserve the overall safety of Mega Tokyo."

Some of the episodes are available to watch on Hulu, if not all 8 of them. Check out the first episode, "Tinsel City Rhapsody", and go on from there if you happen to like it.

I know I did when I bought the DVD box last year . :pp

It would be a crime not to look at Yu Yu Hakusho. It's got some of the best fights in anime history and an EPIC soundtrack to boot.
