Run out of the park and jump back in your car and head back over to Dan's house to save your game. Once saved, we'll wrap back around to one of Charlie's missions as the same three icons appear on the map. Enter the silver marker at the foot of the garage door in the kitchen for the screen to fade.

Heavy Duty...

The camera fades back in with Evan scrawling out a map of Gadebridge City over the small bedside counter, with Charlie standing beside him on the mattress Both men are hunched over, looking at locations. After a few moments, Evan taps his finger against a location on the map.

Evan: This place right here is a perfect place to hit. A hardware store this big must take a lot in a day -- and I bet they transfer the money at the end of each day by courier.

Charlie: So why not hit the courier instead?

Evan: Too much of a risk -- especially after the last two. We pick the back lock, get in, find an employee and get the information outta him.

Charlie: Can we at least kill the lad when we're done with him?

Evan: No. Stop killing people.

Evan rolls the map back up and nods his head towards the garage door, motioning for Charlie to follow behind as the screen fades to black.

FADE IN: GAME PLAY

You're at the foot of Dan's garage beside Charlie. A blip has appeared on the map for the hardware store, and a message pops up on-screen: Get to the employee entrance of the hardware store and make your way inside.

You'll notice you've received a round of ammo for a 9mm. pistol in your weapon inventory. Grab a car and drive over there with Charlie. Along the way, a short conversation will ensue.

Charlie: Any response on eGay yet?

Evan: Yeah, here. Your cut.

Charlie: I think we're gettin' tanked tonight, mate!

Charlie cheers and suddenly your car will begin swaying side to side for two-three seconds.

Evan: I mean it. Chill out.

The conversation will end here. Make your way over to the back entrance of the large warehouse-like store and park the car. Exit and Charlie will follow. The silver marker is just at the foot of the back door. Walk into it and the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The camera comes in to the dark, desolate back room of the store, where a few large containers and forklifts sit parked. The back door is seen slowly opening, shedding cracks of daylight inside. Evan walks inside, looking around, with Charlie close behind.

Evan: Right. Can I trust you to not spaz out and kill everyone?

Charlie: You know me, mate!

Charlie gives him a sly smile and walks away as Evan crouches and carefully treads over to the door leading to the shop floor. He opens the door slightly and peaks out front, seeing a booming, lively store front. He closes the door and turns back around, seeing Charlie emerge from behind a corner, dragging a small Indian worker by the neck, covering his mouth. Evan exhales with relief.

Evan: Well, he's alive... Good job.

Charlie: All right, kid here says they keep a safe upstairs, but he doesn't know the combination.

Evan pauses for a moment, keeping his eyes locked with the young employee. He breathes in hard through his nose and hunches down, putting his hands on his knees, coming eye-level with the small worker.

Evan: I've had enough sh*t to last me a life time in this past week. Do not push my patience. My friend here is gonna release you now. If you make even the slightest peep, I'll not hesitate to cut your tongue out. Do we have an understanding?

The Indian worker hyperventilates and sobs, nodding his head. Charlie lets him go and he runs towards the door both men came in from.

END OF CUTSCENE

A message appears on-screen: Go find the safe and take it back to Dan's.

A blip has appeared on the mini-radar for the safe upstairs. Go back around the corner that you saw Charlie emerge from and go upstairs. In a room, you'll see a large safe behind an empty desk. Approach it and Evan and Charlie will both take a side and automatically lift it up.

Charlie: f*ck me, this is a heavy c*nt.

Start navigating back to the doorframe. You'll notice it's become increasingly hard to move Evan, and occasionally the safe will begin wobbling back and forth. A message appears on-screen: Try not to drop the safe.

As you're navigating a giant safe, along with navigating Charlie as well, sometimes you'll have to walk backwards. When you reach the doorframe, the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Two squad cars approach the back door of the store where Evan and Charlie entered. Four officers in total exit the cars, along with the small Indian worker.

END OF CUTSCENE

Navigate Evan and Charlie carefully down the stairs, making sure not to drop the safe, and you'll see the back door open and the police enter.

Charlie: sh*t! This is why we've gotta start killin' these pricks!

Evan: Dearly noted!

They'll both put the safe down automatically. Take aim with your 9mm. pistol and take the cops out, and alarms will begin sounding from the store front.

Evan: For f*ck sake. There goes all that planning.

Charlie takes aim at the safe and fires a few slugs at it and it bursts open.

Evan and Charlie will both automatically start emptying the cash into their pockets. After a few seconds, you're in control again. A message appears on-screen: Police are closing in. Get outta there.

A blip has appeared on the map for Dan's house. You'll have no stars unless you hang around too long. Run outside the store and jump back in your car and make a clean getaway. Along the way back to Dan's house, a conversation will ensue.

Charlie: Ya see? If I'd of just snapped Captain Curry's neck, we'll be home free right now.

Evan: All right, next time we'll do things your way and see how that goes. Feds were never this f*cking tight over in Wych n' Welt.

The conversation will end. Get back to Dan's house and park in the silver marker in the driveway. Like last time, Charlie will simply exit the car and walk up into the house without a cutscene. The mission is complete.

You're still sitting in the car. Exit and head inside and save your game. Keeping routine, we'll go over to Paige's apartment and do another mission with her this time. So get back in the car you were just in and head over there. Park in the usual silver marker outside of her apartment for the screen to fade.

Lumberjack...

The camera comes in with Evan leaning against the door frame leading into Paige's apartment. She's standing inside with her arms folded, suited in the usual fishnet outfit but with a brown apron covering it.

Evan: ...So they're in the process of being put in witness protection?

Paige: Exactly. Seeing the dilemma now?

Evan: Just scribble the address down on a piece of paper and let me handle it... again. You know, for a hitman, you're pretty sh*t.

Paige: f*ck you, Evan Almighty.

Paige reaches back inside the apartment and emerges with a piece of paper and pen. She leans it against the doorframe and jots down an address and hands it over to Evan.

Evan: I'll call you when it's done.

Paige: Careful, Evan. Feds will be hawk-eying the sh*t outta that place. If I don't answer, it's cause I'm still working.

Evan: The f*ck are you working on any way?

Paige: A couple'a kids toys.

Evan laughs, walking away. Paige closes the door and the screen fades to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The camera focuses on a cabin in the woods. Inside, are a woman of around 60, and a man around 35. Outside, men in suits and shades are patrolling the area.

END OF CUTSCENE

You're outside the apartment block. There's now a blip on the radar out in the woods. A message appears on-screen: Head out to the woods and eliminate the last remaining family members.

Drive out into the country side and when you get nearer to the cabin, a message appears on-screen: Don't get spotted. Find a way to eliminate the targets without being spotted.

Exit your car and get out. Enter crouch mode and navigate Evan through the woodland area. These are the same woodlands that were heavily used in the first installments of the game involving the Yakuza. Explore the area and you'll find a hatchet rested against a tree. Pick it up and a message appears on-screen: This could be useful...

The camera will briefly pan up to a small cliff above the cabin where a few trees sit.

Find your way up to the top of the cliff and approach a tree. Instructions on what button combinations to use appear on-screen. Start swinging the hatchet at the tree and it'll begin tilting. After a few more swings, the screen fades to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The area shows the suited men still walking around, as the camera pans to the tree slowly teetering over the cliff. Evan puts the hatchet down and extends his left hand, then ever so slightly pushes the tree. It falls over the edge of the cliff with a deafening roar and rips through the entire cabin below.

The men duck and take cover, then look around the surrounding area.

Man: sh*t! Patrol the area! Make sure this wasn't an accident!

END OF CUTSCENE

The men will be actively pursuing an assailant now. Keep in stealth mode and make your way away from the woodland area. Once you're in the clear, Evan will automatically take his phone out and navigate through it momentarily, then put it to his ear as he automatically walks along.

Evan: Taken care of.

Paige (OS): You're a star.

Evan hangs the phone up and slips it back in his pocket. The mission is complete.

As you're still in control of Evan, go jack a random car and make your way back to Dan's house. Save your game, and access the dossier on the desk for another one of Sgt. Goodwin's missions. Step into the small silver marker by the dresser and Evan will pick the folder up, and once again the camera will focus through him for the player to read.

Every Saturday, a couple of roommates head out to a game of cards all night. I need you to break into their apartment off Haverbrook and retrieve something for me. Give me a call when you're inside; I'll keep my plans free for the rest of the night.

A message will appear on-screen: Accept Mission? Y / N

Select the 'Y'.

Paper Boy...

Once again, no cutscene will roll, and a blip will appear for an apartment block in the central area of the city. This mission is only accessible on Saturdays. A message appears on-screen: Get over to the apartment block, make your way inside and phone Goodwin.

Head outside of Dan's house and grab the car you were just in. Make your way over to the apartment blocks and you'll notice they're in a rather upper-class part of the city. Exit the car and you'll see a message appear on-screen: Scout the area.

If you head around the back of the building you'll see an open door. Make your way inside and an upward blip appears on the mini-radar. Climb the staircase until you find the correct floor and a message appears on-screen: Call Goodwin.

Navigate through your phone and call Goodwin. After a few rings, he'll answer.

Goodwin (OS): Ah, I was wondering when you'd call. Y'know, you're a lot more reliable and efficient than your waste of a cousin.

Evan: Great. So what is it I'm stealing exactly?

Goodwin (OS): Should be a few layers of plastic, bubble wrap, duct tape, the works. Once you have it, bring it back to me.

The line goes dead and an arrow appears at the foot of a beige door. Walk into it, and Evan will pick the lock. Open the door and walk inside and search around the apartment until you find the packaged item in a drawer beside the sink. A message appears on-screen: Take the item back to Goodwin at the station.

A blip appears on the map for the station. Head back out the apartment and Evan will close the door behind him. Make your way down the staircase and out the same door you came in and get back in your car and make your way over to the station. Park in the silver marker outside the precinct and the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan steps out of the car and closes the door behind him. Goodwin is leaning against a stone slab beside the precinct entrance, arms folded, grinning.

Evan: So, what is it?

Evan hands the package over to Goodwin, who opens the package up as fast as he can get his hands on it, revealing a bag of snow white cocaine. He laughs, squashing the bag between his fingers.

Goodwin: Ah, Evan... Evan, Evan, Evan... You've made me a happy chappy.

Evan: Are you serious? That's gotta be ten K worth'a gear right there.

Goodwin: Yeah, and the guys you just ripped off aren't gonna take that lightly at all. You might wanna cover your tracks.

Goodwin laughs harder as he begins walking up the station steps. Evan quickly turns around and starts jogging back to the car.

END OF CUTSCENE

Evan stops by the car you arrived in. A message appears on-screen: You don't have long. Get rid of any evidence you were there. Give Paige a call.

Quickly navigate through your phone and ring Paige. After a few rings, Paige will answer.

Paige (OS): Evan, what's up? Wanna go grab drinks?

Evan: No time to socialize. Goodwin's landed me in deep sh*t. You got any fire power? Molotovs or cocktail bombs. sh*t, rags in a bottle of Jack or Jim. Anything?

Paige (OS): Ah, boy... Swing by.

The line goes dead and a timer appears on the right-hand side of the screen, counting down from 3:59. A blip appears on the mini-radar for Paige's apartment. Speed over there and park in the silver marker. When you arrive, a message appears on-screen: Sound the horn.

After a few moments, a cutscene will roll.

CUTSCENE

Paige emerges from the apartment building and runs over to Evan's car. She leans down and hands him something through the window.

Paige: All I could make up in such a short amount of time. What's that c*nt got you in to?

Evan: I'll explain later. Nothing I can't handle.

END OF CUTSCENE

Paige begins running back inside, and a blip has re-appeared for the apartment building of the two roommates with the cocaine you nabbed. Speed over there and make sure you beat the timer counting down. Park into the same silver marker behind the building and exit the car. A message appears on-screen: Paige has given you two homemade Molotovs. Go inside and burn any trace of you being there.

Head back upstairs and into the apartment and toss the Molotovs and the apartment will begin burning. A message appears on-screen: Get back to Dan's house.

Go back down the staircase and out the door and back into the car. Once you pull back out and begin driving away, you'll see a car pull up out front and a cutscene will roll.

CUTSCENE

Two men exit a white Rancher and the camera pans up to an explosion out a third floor window and raging fire emanating from it. The two men duck and cover as glass shatters all around them.

END OF CUTSCENE

Speed away from the scene and make your way back to Dan's house and park in the silver marker on the sidewalk beside the driveway. The mission is complete.

Exit the car and you'll notice there are now only two icons available; the dossier has disappeared and your arc. with Goodwin is over for now. Go inside and save your game, and this time we'll head downstairs and do one of Charlie's missions. Step into the silver marker beside the door leading to the garage in the kitchen and the screen will fade to black.

Smoke Breaks...

Evan walks into the garage and shuts the door behind him, turning around only to stop in his tracks and smile, seeing Charlie writing notes on a white board with a felt marker.

Evan: Getting serious, huh?

Charlie: I've been makin' phone calls, taking notes, figuring out the best places to hit and when. You game to pull an indoor hit?

Evan: You talkin' about the shopping centre?

Charlie: Damn right I am. Security patrol the second floor for a good half hour because they've got some cheeseball win a car competition going on, and they've got a bikini model promoting it.

Evan: I'm impressed. So, what're we hitting downstairs?

Charlie: Entirely up to you, lad.

Evan: Gear up.

Both men grab a 9mm. pistol each along with their ski masks off the bedside counter, step over the grounded mattress and walk towards the garage shutter doors as the screen fades to black.

FADE IN: GAME PLAY

You're on the driveway with Charlie beside you. A blip has appeared on the map for the two-story shopping mall just a few blocks down from the apartments you were just at for Goodwin. The time will automatically of forwarded to 12:45 p.m. Grab a car and start making your way over to it. Along the way, a chat will ensue.

Evan: Good to see you clean, mate.

Charlie: Likewise, eh. You've been hittin' the bottle pretty hard as of late -- understandable, mind.

Evan: It's not been easy, I'll admit. I loved her.

Charlie: I know y'did, lad. I know y'did.

The conversation will end here. Make your way over to the shopping complex and a message appears on-screen after you park into the silver marker: Wait until 15:00 for the security guards to 'patrol' the second floor.

Once the clock strikes three, Evan and Charlie will automatically exit the vehicle, suited in their ski masks and carrying the 9mm. pistols in one hand, and empty pillow cases in the other. You'll have an additional three rounds of 9mm. pistol ammo added onto whatever you already currently had. Walk into the shopping complex and the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The scene opens up with a model, barely clothed, showing off a brand new black Stinger on a platform. A crowd of people including a handful of security are gazing on, mouths wide open.

The camera cuts to downstairs, where a typical stoner kid is standing in the back room of a frozen yogurt store, smoking a cigarette, looking miserable.

Voice (OS): Get back to work, fa**ot.

The kid rolls his eyes and flicks the cigarette towards a sink. He pushes a brown door open and goes through as the cigarette misses the sink and rolls along the countertop before falling to the floor.

The camera cuts to Evan and Charlie entering the shopping complex. Both men crouch down and Evan walks off to the right, as Charlie walks off to the left.

END OF CUTSCENE

Back in control, you'll see silver arrows marking a row of four stores, and a timer counting down from 00:59. A message appears on-screen: You've got one hour until the security guards come back downstairs and the show ends. Rob each store and make sure you're not caught.

The entire bottom floor of the complex is virtually empty, but just make sure you use stealth where needed; hide behind pillars and giant plant pots to avoid the occasional shoppers. Enter into the first store, which is an electronic goods store. Take aim at the cashier and he'll put his hands up.

Evan: Empty the register.

The cashier will comply and empty the register's takings into the pillow case. Make your way to the second store, which is a small news kiosk. The same scene will play out. Head into the third store, which is a body care store, and the same scene will once again play out.

The fourth store is the frozen yogurt shop from the cutscene. Enter into it and a cutscene will roll.

CUTSCENE

Evan slowly strolls through the shop floor, keeping a finger glued to his lips with a 'shh' motion. The stoner kid holds his hands up, and Evan looks behind him to a thick, dark smoke escaping the cracks of the brown door. He shifts his head to the side, now holding the pistol in front of him, inching closer to the countertop, getting a clearer look at the smoke when the door is burst open and a man comes through on fire, screaming.

The man stumbles over the counter as an explosion is heard. The screen rumbles for a moment, and the roof collapses. Evan covers his face and dives out the way, making a break for the exit as the entire store from upstairs - a bath store, rips through the ceiling.

END OF CUTSCENE

Alarms are sounding and fire, rubble and broken porcelain clatter the entire area. Make your way out the store, avoiding all the fire and you'll see the security guards running down the escalators. Charlie runs out of a store opposite you, and the security begin shooting at him.

A message appears on-screen: Help Charlie!

A life meter appears for him on the right-hand side of the screen. Shoot at the security guards until all are killed, and a cutscene will roll.

CUTSCENE

Police and fire authorities burst through the front doors of the shopping centre. The police notice Evan and Charlie in ski masks - both wielding 9mm. pistols and take aim.

Cop: Freeze!

END OF CUTSCENE

Exchange fire with the police and make sure Charlie isn't killed. After a few moments, a message will appear on-screen: Find another way out!

Every time you get close to the front doors, more police will enter. Run up the escalators and past the screaming pedestrians and get in the black Stinger. Once in, a blip will appear on the mini-radar and a message appears on-screen: Get to the Pay 'n' Spray.

You'll now have three stars. Drive towards one of the giant floor-to-ceiling windows and tear out of the complex. You'll scale over a few cop cars below, and the landing should be fairly smooth. Make your way to the spray shop and lose the heat, then a blip appears back at Dan's house.

Drive back over to home and park in the silver marker for the screen to fade.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The camera pans round the front of the car. Evan and Charlie are breathing heavily, covered in charcoal and blood. Evan yanks his ski mask off and tosses it on the dashboard.

Charlie: Four runs, four sets of bad luck.

Charlie slowly removes the ski mask and sighs, as Evan adjusts the rear view mirror.

Evan: On the plus, we've got a car.

Charlie: I s'pose. How much d'ya take?

Evan: 'Bout a K. You?

Charlie: 'Bout the same! Out for a drink later?

Evan: Much later. Lay low for a bit and I'll sell this.

Charlie slaps Evan on the shoulder and exits the car as the screen fades to black.

Mission Passed

+ £1,000

The screen fades back in with Evan sitting in the Stinger. A message appears on-screen: When you're ready, go put this car up for sale on eGay.

You can either do this now, or wait. You won't be paid for the car until later in the game, anyway. Until then, this car will always spawn outside of Dan's house for you to use.

Head inside and save your game. You'll now see just one icon remaining, and that's for Paige. So come back outside and get back in your car and head over to Paige's apartment. Park in the silver marker. If you don't have at least £1,000, you'll be unable to start this mission until you do. The screen will fade to black.

A Clean Getaway...

The camera fades in with Evan about to knock on Paige's door. Just before he gets the chance, the door is flung open and Paige nods for Evan to come inside, taking a large swig of brown liquid from a clear glass as she does so. Evan pauses for a moment as Paige walks back inside before entering in behind her.

Paige: So that mark with the husband and extended family you took out refunded the transaction. Took every penny back under those sh*tty seven-day rules for online money wiring.

Evan: Ouch...

Paige: Yeah, ouch.

Paige takes a final gulp of the liquid, finishing off the glass, then tossing it to the wall. She paces over to a wicker table as the glass shatters and picks up a few sheets of paper.

Paige: With the airports re-opening tomorrow, she's making a break for it. By the looks of these transactions and phone calls, she's bribing someone to get out early. Booked a one-way flight to Wychmere with my f*ckin' money.

Evan takes the sheets of paper from an angered Paige and flicks through them.

Evan: Internet's a scary place for the blue collar. You've even got her N.I. number on here.

Paige: That grand I gave you was outta my own pocket, thinking at the start of next week I'd have about ten myself. If you wanna keep that, we need to get moving. Final transaction was hiring a car out this morning.

Paige walks over to a padlocked cabinet. She bends down and begins opening it as Evan continues looking over the paperwork.

Evan: I take it this is her route.

Paige emerges with a disassembled Dragunov rifle and black parachute pack. She tosses the pieces on the couch as Evan looks up from the sheets, first at the rifle parts, then at Paige.

Evan: Really necessary?

Paige snatches the sheets of paper from Evan and begins walking to the front door.

Paige: We ain't got long...

The screen fades to black.

FADE IN: GAME PLAY

You're standing at the foot of the apartment complex next to Paige. You're holding the now-assembled Dragunov rifle and wearing the backpack. You'll see you've got just six rounds in the rifle. A moving gold blip has appeared on the mini-radar, along with a stationary silver blip. A message appears on-screen: The target is fleeing with Paige's money. Get to the vantage point and interfere with her route out of state.

Get into your car and Paige will follow suit. Start speeding over to the silver blip on the radar and when you arrive, you'll see it's the same large radio tower for Mini FM in the original stories. Park in the silver marker outside and a message appears on-screen: Get to the roof of the building.

Evan and Paige will both exit the vehicle; she's now wielding an Uzi. machine gun. Run into the building and the secretary at the front desk will stand up, panic, and sound the alarm. Paige will tear through her with the pistol.

Make your way up each floor and along the way, security guards will attack you, but Paige will eliminate them without much effort. Make sure you stay alive and once you make it to the roof access door, the screen fades to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan boots the door open and runs onto the roof with Paige facing the other way, aiming the Uzi. down the stairwell, firing as she walks backward. Evan sets the Dragunov rifle up at the building ledge and Paige blasts through two more security guards.

END OF CUTSCENE

A message will appear on-screen: Await the target to come into focus on the streets below and take her out.

She'll be driving recklessly, so when she comes in view, take aim through the lens and burst a tire or two, then when you get a clear shot of the windscreen, shoot her through the head. The car will crash and a message will appear on-screen: She has the money on her. Parachute down and get it before the police arrive.

Dive off the building and pull the parachute chord and sift through the air and down to the wreckage below, where pedestrians have formed a circle, glaring and speculating at the crash. When you land, Evan will remove the backpack automatically and toss it on the floor. Run over to the car and open the door, and once again he'll automatically reach in and grab a black dufflebag.

A message appears on-screen: Get back to Dan's house.

Steal a car and begin driving to the blip on the mini-radar for Dan's. Along the way, the car you arrived in will speed alongside you. It's Paige, and she'll follow suit until you arrive at Dan's, then when you drive into his neighbourhood, the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan and Paige both drift the cars to a screeching halt and step outside, both leaving the doors open. Evan tosses the dufflebag over to Paige and both begin walking towards the house. Emily is standing on the front porch, smoking a cigarette. Upon seeing them, she tosses it on the pebble walkway and slowly claps her hands.

Emily: Bravo, bravo.

Evan and Paige barge past her and into the house. She closes the door and follows them through to the living room, where Paige dumps the dufflebag onto the couch and unzips it.

Emily: Productive day in the life of Evan Rivers and Paige Raimi, I see.

Paige sighs, tipping the bag upside down and shaking it. Nothing comes out. She tosses the bag on the floor and takes a few short strides over to Emily and clenches her fist, then punches her in the nose.

Emily screams and grabs her face, dropping to her knees as Paige walks through the living room arch. The sound of the front door banging shut is heard, as Emily cries on the floor.

Evan shakes his head and slowly walks away, with the screen fading to black.

Mission Passed

- £1,000

The camera fades back in with Evan in the dining room area. You're down a thousand pounds as Paige took it back. A message appears on-screen: You're now able to access your own HHA missions. Occasionally, you'll be e-mailed a target, price, specifications and instructions.

Awesome, awesome, and more awesome. I'm interested to see how it will all connect to the main plot later. Sorry for the lack of replies, I've been reading avidly, however. I'm guessing we'll see what happened to Rebecca Barcalow at some point in the story? Also, are we going to see Paige's relation to Carter?

Keep up the great work, Anthony.

It's amazing you should mention those two names. I just started plotting ideas to the sequel of this yesterday, and Rebecca/Carter will play a fairly big part in it. Carter and other people are mentioned in this story, but none are seen. I kept this quite stripped down to build on new characters and try grip a new fan base of readers, but it hasn't seemed to of worked out too well.

Should've changed the name of this entirely -- for new readers and because Heart City isn't even used in this story. Never goes past Downtown or the current city they're in. More to be revealed on that as the story unfolds. ph34r.gif

You'll notice there are currently no icons on the map now. After a few moments you'll receive a phone call from Goodwin. Answer it.

Goodwin (OS): Fortunate timing, Evan. Remember last week I said you'd be taking over my then-client's last job? Well, the race track owner is back in town. Airports re-open tomorrow -- but don't go rushing off too quick. I want this done. Head over to Ammunation, tell 'em Goodwin sent you, get what you need and go pay him a visit. If you don't screw this up, we'll talk about unfreezing your current account.

The line goes dead and a silver blip has appeared on the map for Ammunation, which is now open and fully accessable. A message appears on-screen: Get to Ammunation and take out the target.

Save your game if you wish, then head out of the house and take your Stinger and drive over to Ammunation. Park it up and go inside. You'll see the Uzi. is free and compliments of Goodwin. Select it and buy anything else you wish that's currently available that you've previously used.

A horse icon has appeared on the radar for the race track. Make your way over to it and stop in the silver marker in the parking lot for the screen to fade.

Through The Past, Darkly...

The screen fades in with Evan slowly pacing through a busy building. Every which way there are people placing bets at glass screen kiosks and people watching monitors. Evan is looking through his phone with one hand resting in his pocket, occasionally looking around.

He walks to the tracks outside and looks down, watching a race take place. His eyes focus on a well-dressed man with a small entourage surrounding him. Evan watches on as they converse, then he watches the man stand up from the group and start walking away. Putting the phone back in his pocket, he starts following the same direction the man is walking in.

He suddenly stops when he catches a glimpse of his brother, Dan, who starts screaming at the current race going on. He takes one last look at the race track owner, who disappears around a corner, then back down to his brother.

The race comes to an end and Dan cries out, ripping a betting slip up and letting it scatter in the wind. He hangs his head over the railings and sobs, before a group of well-built men approach him. Dan takes a step back.

Dan: Fellas, I can fix this. I can get you your money. Just give me a little more time. I just need--

One of the men slip a pipe down from their leather jacket sleeve and grip it tightly, swinging it at Dan, striking him across the face and causing him to crumple to the floor in the fetal position. Two of the men begin dragging his unconscious body along the dirt and towards a small tunnel leading to the parking lot.

END OF CUTSCENE

A message appears on-screen: Take the group of thugs out!

There are four men total. Run down the bleachers and through the tunnel and out to the parking lot, where you'll see all of them kicking your downed brother over and over. Take aim and blast 'em all and the screen will fade to black when the final one is dead.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan helps Dan up and assess the damage around him, dusting him off. Dan is covering a large bloody gash on his temple and leaning on Evan.

Evan: You've really done it this time, Dan. You f*ckin' moron...

The sound of a click is heard and a flash coats Evan and Dan with a bright hue for a split second, as the camera cuts to one of the thugs holding his phone with one hand, and with the other hand, covering a bullet hole in his chest. He takes another picture with the phone and laughs.

Thug: You're both dead men.

Evan pulls away from Dan and raises a 9mm. pistol, taking aim at the thug beneath him and firing a single shot between his eyes. He bends down and picks up the phone and looks it over, seeing the photo has been sent to someone. Evan looks at Dan and raises his hands, inquisitively. Dan takes a step back, trying to suck the cold air in through his busted nose.

Dan: Lost all my money a while back. Started gambling and took a loan off of...

Dan turns away and pauses, causing Evan to shove him.

Dan: f*ck sake. I took a loan off of Wayne.

Evan: Wayne? Wayne Hallows?!

Dan: ...Yeah.

Evan throws his hands over his head and paces around as Dan checks the wound on his head.

Evan: You don't know what this guy is capable of. Not even the Cartel would touch this guy. Hallows is a loose cannon with connections. You suddenly forgot why I took Joan and got the hell out of Green State?! I worked with him for years. You remember any of that sh*t he put me through?!

The lashing of Dan is interrupted by a phone vibrating. Evan stops and looks down at the phone in his hand that he took from the thug. He answers it and puts it to his ear, scratching his brow with the butt of his pistol, eyes once again locked on Dan.

Voice (OS): Nice to see my so-called best friend's face again.

Evan: Wayne. Listen, my brother--

Wayne (OS): Same place we were last together, Evan. Otherwise, you're all done.

The line goes dead and Evan slowly lets the phone fall to his side, never removing his glare from Dan.

Evan: You have just f*cked... everything up.

Dan stays silent. Evan shakes his head and begins walking away. Dan slowly follows behind with the screen fading to black.

FADE IN: GAME PLAY

You're standing next to Dan a few feet away from the dead thugs. A message appears on-screen: Take Dan to a clinic.

Go round the corner and find your car and enter it. Dan will follow inside and a blip appears on the radar for a 24-hour medical clinic. Start following the sat-nav to the destination and a conversation will ensue.

Dan: I take it he's the guy you were working with when you met Joan...

Evan: Yeah. And the sh*t he made me do was suicidal. I loved Joan and wanted to give her a better life. A life where I was alive. I knew Charlie started running with the BB boys over in Wychmere n' Welton, so I got in. A lot safer, a hell of a lot more organized, and best of all, no psychopathic boss with connections to the mafia.

Dan: I figured it was just a rumor.

Evan: Yeah, well, it's not. I don't even think they wanna deal with him. Just shipped him off and said do this, do that, stay the f*ck away from us, just give us our cut.

Dan chuckles.

Dan: You've saved my ass so many times...

Evan: You owe me a lot of beer money. I won't forget. They just re-opened the airports, and that was my window out. Now I've gotta stay here and sort your sh*t. Again.

The conversation ends here. Park in the silver marker outside the clinic.

Dan: I'll see you back home. Tell Emily I'm working late; she doesn't need to know any of this.

Evan: You better hope whatever strungout intern treats you can use a f*ckin' spindle for that hole in your head.

Dan will exit the car and walk inside the clinic, and the mission is complete.

You're still sat in the car outside the clinic. One icon appears on the map, and that's for Wayne Hallows. It appears as 'WH'. Head home and save your game and once saved, make your way over to the location.

You'll see the silver marker outside of a night club -- the same club owned by the Yakuza in the original game. An unlit neon-blue sign hangs above the entrance, reading 'Wayne's Bar'. The mission is only accessible in the day time. Park in it for the screen to fade.

Big Rigs & Blast Burns...

Evan slowly walks up the steps to the smooth jet black double doors of the club. He pulls one of the silver cylinder handles and opens one of the doors. Walking inside, he sees a handful of staff setting up for the night ahead. Down a small set of stairs and across the dance floor sits a man in casual clothes -- a red tennis polo shirt and jeans, sprawled out on a large black leather booth chair. He spots Evan and motions for him to come over.

Evan comes across the dance floor as Wayne leans forward, reaching for his drink. As Evan arrives, Wayne takes a sip through the straw in the glass and snaps his fingers, pointing down at the chair in front of him. Evan then sits down.

Wayne: Still a stone cold killing machine, I see. Ah -

Wayne licks his lips and looks the glass over.

Wayne: This is f*ckin' amazing! Hey, who made this?!

Wayne peers over Evan's shoulder as all the staff working stop to look at him, then look to each other, then get back to working.

Wayne: Lazy pricks. Okay. Down to business.

Evan: We have no business anymore.

Wayne: We do now.

Wayne reaches into his pocket and tosses a wad of cash on the table and nods for Evan to take it. Evan never takes his eyes off of Wayne.

Wayne: Your cut from the last job we did together. I hadn't forgotten, even if you might of. But now your brother owes me a lot of money... and that compromises our friendship.

Evan: How much? I'll pay it off.

Wayne: Six figures.

Evan stays silent.

Wayne: I thought not.

Evan sits back in the chair as Wayne smiles, also sitting back in his.

Wayne: So, are you ready to get back to work?

Evan goes to take the wad of money, but Wayne puts his hand over it and slides it back his way.

Wayne: Not just yet. Like I just said... Dan owes me a lot of money.

Evan sighs, standing up.

Wayne: There are two cars parked outside with specific instructions inside each one. Go do what you do best, firefly.

Evan takes a deep breath in, shaking his head as he turns around and walks away with the screen fading to black.

FADE IN: GAME PLAY

You're outside the back of the club in the parking area. Two pea green Sabres sit across the lot. Go sit inside of one and Evan's voice will read aloud a narrative of the instructions.

Evan: There's a rig on its way to Port. Once you start the engine, you'll have a limited time before a bomb goes off... Take the rig out... f*ck sake. Thanks, Dan.

A moving gold blip has appeared on the mini-radar for the rig truck somewhere in Gadebridge City. Start driving the car and you'll have a meter appear on the right-hand side of the screen, slowly declining. Once you find the truck, wait for it to stop at a red light and park the car either in front of it or next to it, then activate the bomb. Exit the car and begin running away.

The car will explode, causing the rig and everything else in the surrounding area to explode. The camera will rumble for a few seconds as alarms go off in the area. A message appears on-screen: Go get the second car.

Jack a random car around the corner and go back to the club. Exit that car and get into the second Sabre. Once again, Evan will read aloud a narrative of the instructions, this time breathing heavily.

Evan: Once you start this car, you'll have an hour until it catches fire to explode. There's a boat off Port. Make sure this car is on that boat... Love, Wayne.

You'll hear Evan sigh. Start the car up and a meter once again appears on the right-hand side of the screen, slowly declining. Make your way over to Port by following the sat-nav and you'll see a large ship at your destination. There's a ramp on either side of it for a jump.

Once the meter bar declines completely, the car bonnet will flip off and the entire car will catch on fire. Get a good run and drive the car onto the ramp and dive out. The car will land on the boat as Evan rolls along the floor and you'll hear the results as the screen shakes.

You'll see explosions and items fly off into the air as the ship begins slowly moving in the water. Evan will stand up, and you'll receive a two star wanted level.

A message appears on-screen: Lose the heat.

Run out of the dockyards and jack a car. Make your way to the nearest spray shop and once you're in the clear, the mission is complete.

You're where ever you were once you lost the wanted level. The same 'WH' is on the map and nothing more. Head back over to Dan's house and save your game. You'll receive a text message from Charlie. Navigate through your phone and open it up.

Message: Sell that car yet?

This is indication that - if you put it up for bid - the car will have a seller now. Head over to a café and access eGay and receive your payslip for the car.

+ £7,500

Charlie will of also made the same, scoring a total of 15,000 for the car. Unfortunately, it won't spawn outside of your house anymore. For the purposes of this story, we just sold it. Grab a car and head over to the nightclub. Enter the silver marker at the foot of the steps leading to the front doors. This time, this mission is only accessible at night. Once it's dark, the screen will fade to black.

Blackout...

Evan enters the club to the sound of bass booming, being blinded by the lights and strobes flashing away. Looking around, he sees the club is virtually empty. Spotting Wayne sitting at a round wooden table, he makes his way over.

Evan: Business is going great, I see.

Wayne chuckles and kicks a chair out under the table for Evan to sit on, as he motions for a waitress to come over and serve them. Evan takes a seat and the waitress arrives.

Wayne: Double scotch - neat, no ice for my friend here... I'll have another.

Wayne hands an empty glass to the waitress who walks away, and he turns his attention to Evan.

Wayne: This new f*ckin' club just opened across town called Elegance. Here, look -

Wayne reaches down into a bag by his chair and pulls out a magazine, tossing it on the table. Evan leans forward and examines it over, flicking through.

Wayne: sh*t hot, according to A Magical Night. So...

Wayne once again reaches down into the bag and pulls out a pair of scopes and tosses them to Evan, who simultaneously drops the magazine and catches the item, looking them over.

Wayne: Scheduled a power cut in the club for a specific time, giving you enough time to do your damage and get that club shut down, as pending murder investigations are always great for business, I hear.

Evan: You at least supplying me the fire power?

Wayne: Yeah, yeah. Get going.

Evan stands up, causing the chair to screech along the dark marble floor. The waitress arrives with two drinks on her tray. Evan takes his and downs it in one, putting the glass back on the tray and walks away with the screen fading.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The camera fades back in to a lively club scene -- the complete opposite to what you were just in. It's packed with people dancing, drinking, and having a good time. A message appears on-screen: Head over to Club Elegance across town. Wayne has scheduled a power cut for 01:00 a.m.

END OF CUTSCENE

A silver blip has appeared on the map for Elegance. The time has automatically forwarded to 10:00 p.m., giving you three minutes to get over there. Jack a car in the club parking lot and make your way over to it. Along the way, more messages will appear on-screen: When the lights go out, you'll need to eliminate as many people as possible, and cause as much destruction in the short amount of time before the power is turned back on.

In your weapon inventory, you'll now see you have plenty of rounds for an Uzi. machine pistol, a flame thrower and molotovs.

Once you arrive at the club, park in the silver marker and a message appears on-screen: Go inside and wait for the power cut.

Enter the club and wait around as long as needed. There are multiple options of things you can do in the club, including gambling on fruit machines for small cash. When the clock strikes one, the lively club scene will instantly die. The screen goes black; the music is cut off, and people start vocally complaining.

Flip to the scope lenses and the entire screen will become red, with targets being a bright yellow and orange colour in heat-seeking mode. You can see everything around you, and everyone's slowly wandering around blindly, reaching out for surface and stability.

A timer counting down from 00:29 appears on the right-hand side of the screen, letting you know how much time you have to cause destruction -- not long at all.

Equip your Uzi. machine pistol and start tearing through as many revelers and staff as possible. You'll start seeing commotion, screaming, people falling all over the place, over each other, etc. Switch to your flamethrower or molotovs and start setting fires all over.

Once the timer hits 00:00, if you've done enough damage, a message will appear on-screen: Get out of there!

Make your way to the door and as you arrive, the lights will switch back on and the music will resume. Exit the club and a blip appears on the map for Dan's house. As you begin driving, Evan will navigate through his phone and dial Wayne. After a few moments, he'll answer

Wayne (OS): Good job. It's making headlines already -- hey, check out your window.

A helicopter can be heard speeding by overhead with spotlights darting everywhere.

Wayne (OS): I'm gonna need you to put some work in at the club later. Before you get your panties in a twist, it's just door work.

The line will go dead. Make your way over to Dan's and park in the silver marker. Once you do, the mission is complete.

Go inside and save your game. Once you do, make your way back over to the only current icon available, which is the 'WH' for Wayne at his club. This mission once again is only accessible at night. Enter into the silver marker at the foot of the steps leading up to the club and the screen will fade to black.

Snow Angels...

The screen will fade in with Evan putting door work duty in, checking IDs and scanning them, standing in the blistering cold night in a long black crombie jacket and matching beanie hat. A group of people approach and Evan checks them over, then waves for them to go inside.

A man will open one of the double doors from inside and lean out slightly, causing Evan to turn and face him.

Man: Take five.

The man goes back inside and closes the door as Evan pulls a metal flask out from the jacket pocket and undoes it, pouring steaming hot coffee into the lid cup and he blows on it briefly, before taking a sip. After a few moments, his phone will vibrate. He takes it out with his free hand and answers it.

Evan: Yeah?

Goodwin (OS): You f*ckin' piece'a sh*t. You are f*ckin' dead. You let the racetrack owner get away.

Evan: Oh yeah...about that. I sort'a got caught up in some--

Goodwin (OS): Lucky for you, my boys took him out. But hey, those two you ripped off for the coke were runners for The Snowman. All your details are now with them. Have fun, princess.

Evan hangs the phone up, seeing a crystal white Rancher screech to a halt on the sidewalk leading to the club's steps. Men in white parker coats and dark shades lean out the windows, aiming M16 machine pistols.

His eyes widen and he tosses the coffee flask and dives over the side railings of the club as shots are fired through the glass doors and windows.

END OF CUTSCENE

A message appears on-screen: Lead these guys away from Wayne's club!

You're on foot in some grassy shrubs at the side of the building. Just a few feet away you'll hear the car doors close behind you. You'll soon notice there are no cars available anywhere. Run and lead the four men away. They're all wielding M16 rifles, so you're gonna need to be smart about how you take them out.

Once you've lead them away from the club, a message appears on-screen: Kill them all.

Make your way to a nearby alley and take cover behind a large dumpster and wait for the men to come round the corner. Take aim and shoot them out. Once all are dead, the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan walks over to one of the dead men, staring down at him as he digs into his long crombie coat's pocket and pulls out his Blackberry, taking a picture of the downed man and navigating his phone momentarily before it vibrates. He answers it and puts it to his ear.

Goodwin (OS): Congrats, you just dug an even deeper hole for yourself.

Evan: And what if I tell them it was you who ripped 'em off?

Goodwin (OS): Yeah... I don't see that going down too well at all, sugar. I was testing you; I've been working with them for a few months now. And all this talk of witness protection lately has got me freakin' horny, I tell ya.

Evan: I could kill you long before you get out of state.

Goodwin (OS): I've got a hundred snot nose rookies who will break their backs for me, not to mention a partnership with The Snowman and his soldiers. You have fun trying to find me before all your demons start catching up to you, hun'. This goes for Paige, as well.

The line goes dead and Evan removes the phone from his ear and taps it on his forehead a few times, looking down at the dead body, processing his thoughts, watching the cold air escape his lips with each heavy breath he takes. He steps over the man in the blood soaked parker coat and the screen fades to black.

The one time I swing by GTAF out of curiosity and I see TonyZimmzy has returned with a new tale from Heart City. Haven't started reading yet, just wanted to say it's nice to see you and a few old faces back. Might have to start coming back here more often...

The camera comes back in with Evan a few feet from the dead gang member. There are currently no icons on the map. After a few moments, your phone will ring. 'Paige - Mobile' will appear on the screen. Answer it.

Paige (OS): Deputy Dipsh*t's put a hit out on us. Apparently he tricked you into stealing something that already belonged to him. What's going on?

Evan: Yeah. I didn't know at the time, but what's done is done. Watch your back.

Paige (OS): Will do. I've got a friend Downtown who can ghost us for a while. I'll text you the postcode and meet you over there.

The line goes dead, and after a few moments a user posted image will appear on the radar, along with a 'WH' at the club, and then you'll receive a text message from Paige.

Message: D1 2OR

Jack a car and when you do, a radio report will let you know the bridge between Gadebridge City and Downtown is now open, stating the investigation into the terrorist attacks are currently inconclusive. Make your way over to the icon, which is a silver marker outside of a boatyard in the Downtown area. Park into it and the screen will fade to black.

Gone Fishin'...

The camera comes back in with Evan pushing open a large wooden door from the inside. The bright lights of the docks beaming in from outside if it's night; and sunshine if it's day. The camera will focus on a man wearing a cream fleece with grey cargo pants and black boots coiling a rope and tossing it over a stationary boat on blocks. He turns around upon seeing Evan and taking one of his brown gloves off, offering a handshake as Evan approaches.

Evan: My cousin Paige said she was meeting me here.

Evan and the man lock hands and shake.

Man: I'm Peter Auldrey. Pete. Paige is across the yard settling in. I've got a room set up for you each so you can lay low. Heard you're a man who can get things done.

Evan: You heard right.

Pete: Well, you must be a screw or two loose to rip those coke pushers off. Paige said you're both looking for money.

Evan: I'm looking for an escape more than money. But that's not happening right now with the airport situation. So, money will suffice.

A vibrating sound can be heard. Pete snarls, grabbing his pocket and digs in deep, taking the phone out and simultaneously running his tongue across the front of his teeth, looking unimpressed with whatever's on the screen.

Pete: Tell you what, you come with me. I've got something you can help me with right now...

Pete puts his arm around Evan as they walk towards the door Evan entered from, with Pete explaining a situation, inaudible for the player to hear. The screen then fades to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan, Pete and another man are sitting out on a small wooden boat in the middle of the ocean, fishing. Night has now befallen if it wasn't before and the fog is thick. All that's viewable is a large yellow beacon from a lighthouse to lead boats back to shore.

Pete: Can't believe his wife let him get away with that!

Man: I know. But you've gotta stop changing the subject. I need to know more about this job. When, where, who's gonna be there?!

Pete: Relax. We've got all night.

Man: I need to know right now!

END OF CUTSCENE

A message will appear on-screen: Kill the man.

He'll be sitting down with his back turned to you. Equip your 9mm. pistol and take aim; it'll auto-lock on his head for a one-shot kill. Fire a single slug into him, and his body will slump face first over the boat and into the ocean and begin sifting atop the icy waters. Pete will stand up.

Pete: Good job. Not gun shy or hesitant whatsoever. Help me get the body back on the boat.

Before they have a chance to pull the body back, a vast white light casts a piercing hue over both men who shield their eyes.

Pete: sh*t! I knew it! He was an informant! Evan, we've gotta get outta here!

A voice booms over a megaphone.

Voice: This is the HCPD. Freeze, and put your hands up.

A message appears on-screen: Dive into the water and guide Pete back to shore!

There will be no blips, just the yellow light emanating from the lighthouse, which is now increasingly hard to see with the bright spotlight shone upon you both. Dive in and shots will start being fired. A health meter appears on the right-hand side of the screen for Pete.

Start swimming, and after a while, both men will converse as long as you aren't diving under water to try and avoid/slip bullets/the ship itself.

Pete: My vision is fading. And my legs are cramping. f*ck... it's so cold.

After that, the screen will start going darker. Every thirty seconds then after, the screen will become even darker. If you take too long, you'll black out and fail the mission.

Evan: You holding on back there?!

Pete: Barely.

Make your way back to shore before you black out and once you reach land, you'll receive a three star wanted level. Jack the nearest car and find a spray shop and lose the heat. Once done, a blip appears on the radar and a message appears on-screen: Make your way back to Pete's dockyard.

Speed over there and park in the silver marker and the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Both men are bent over in the same barn-like building they were originally conversing in when the mission began, coughing violently and dripping wet. The door creaks open and Evan shoots up, turning around and taking aim with a 9mm. pistol, breathing heavily.

Paige: Good to see you, too.

Evan closes his eyes, swallows hard and tosses the pistol onto a stationary boat on wooden blocks.

Paige: So, no trouble putting us up then?

Pete: After tonight, I consider this man a life long friend.

Evan and Pete share a brief laugh, then resume coughing as the screen fades to black.

Just wanted to say thanks to y'all that are reading this. Always nice to see familiar faces that're still keeping up with the story smile.gif. Work's pretty slow today, so I'm writing the sequel. Five missions in so far, and it'll answer a lot of the remaining questions about the anonymous caller in Return to Heart City, what happened to everyone, etc. Evan's still the lead.

You're standing outside the building you were just in. Opposite you is a small shack building with the save icon. Go inside and save your game by sleeping on the grounded mattress. You still have access to Dan's house over in Gadebridge City, but when you get near his neighborhood, you'll be under attack from crystal white Ranchers containing gang members that Goodwin have sent to take you out.

After a few moments, your phone will ring. 'Charlie - Mobile' appears on the screenface. Answer it.

Evan: Charlie. What's up?

Charlie (OS): Nout. Me n' Dan are just wondering where you are is all.

Evan: Probably best I keep my distance for a while. Me and Paige are Downtown at a dockyard owned by her friend, Pete.

Charlie (OS): Dan filled me in with his situation, like. I'll help out where I can. Hopefully I can still crash here.

Evan: Yeah, no worries. If Emily gives you any sh*t, just tell her Paige is up for round two whenever she is.

Charlie laughs as Evan hangs the phone up. You now have a 'PA' for Peter Auldrey at the building you met him in, as well as the 'WH' for Wayne Hallows back at the club in Gadebridge City; and a 'P' for Paige outside the shack-like safehouse. Save your game, and this time we'll resume with Wayne's missions back in Gadebridge City. Jump in a car and make your way over to his club and park in the silver marker at the foot of the steps leading to the venue for the screen to fade.

A Storm Is Coming...

The camera fades in at Evan's feet, slowly treading over broken glass at the front of the club's entrance doors, each shard crackling under his weight. It pans up to see him watching workers sweeping up glass and boarding up the shattered windows. Before he can enter into the club, Wayne comes out, grabbing Evan by the neck and pointing at him.

Wayne: You stupid sh*t!

Wayne lets him go and looks around at all the damage.

Wayne: How is it that I can give you orders to execute near-suicidal sh*t with me and you pull it off without batting an eyelid... But I ask you to keep underage kids out my club, and this happens?!

Evan: I easily bore.

Wayne chuckles briefly, before his face returns straight laced. He digs a left hook directly into Evan's liver, causing him to gasp and bend over, dropping to his knees.

Wayne: We're gonna go take a drive. Get up.

Wayne drags Evan along by his arm, who struggles to catch his breath and stand back to his feet as the screen fades to black.

FADE IN: GAME PLAY

You're standing next to Wayne at the steps leading up to his club.

Wayne: Get us a car.

Go grab a car and get in. Once in, blips start appearing on the radar Downtown.

Wayne: f*ckin' coke whores think they can get away with doing this sh*t to me? To my club?! ...Get over there and find some of their foot soldiers and do work.

Evan: I think it'd be best to just let it die. They're after me because of Goodwin, anyway. Not you, or your club.

Wayne: Goodwin?

Wayne erupts with laughter.

Wayne: He's just a paper pusher for The Snowman. f*ck him.

The conversation will end here. Make your way into the Downtown district and a message will appear on-screen: Take out some gang members.

There will be plenty of white blips all over the radar. Make your way over to each of them and when you get near, Wayne will lean out the window and fire at them; and you can also just mow them down or fire yourself. After you've taken eight out, one of their crystal white Ranchers will start speeding after you.

Wayne: We've got 'em real pissed now. Let 'em know who they're f*cking dealing with. Lead 'em back to my club.

A message appears on-screen: Lead the Rancher back to Wayne's club.

The car will be very aggressive, trying to ram you off the road and men will be leaning out the windows, shooting at your car. A silver blip appears back at Wayne's nightclub, so stay alive and make your way over to it and park in the silver marker for the screen to fade.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan and Wayne both exit their car and slam the doors shut as the Rancher speeds by. Wayne nods his head and laughs, nudging Evan with his shoulder.

Wayne: Ah, I've missed rolling with you.

Evan: Can't say I reciprocate the feeling.

Wayne: In due time, in due time. Once your brother's debt is cleared, we'll laugh about this and it'll be like old times.

Evan folds his arms across his chest and begins walking away, shaking his head.

Wayne: Leave the Goodwin situation to me -- as a show of good faith.

The screen fades to black with Wayne walking back up his club's steps.

The game resumes with you a few feet away from the club's entrance; there are now two blips on the mini-radar - Wayne's has now vanished. Grab the car you were in with Wayne and speed over to the Downtown district and save your game. This time, we'll do one of Pete's missions. Enter the silver marker outside the barn-like warehouse for the screen to fade.

Investment Issues...

The camera fades back in with Pete frantically looking around the dockside. He lifts a green sheet from one of the speedboats and curses to himself, turning around to see Evan slowly walking down the wooden walkway towards him, stopping by a lamp post and leaning against it.

Evan: Could hear you bitchin' a mile away. What's going on?

Pete gives up looking and re-covers the boat with the protective sheet and begins pacing back and forth as the boats sift side to side on the open water.

Pete: I took a few short cuts for construction on a project me and a business partner invested in. Looks like the foreman is pressuring me for more money to stay quiet... I'm dry, man.

Evan: Only place Downtown that's being worked on is that old apartment block conversion. You want me to take a trip over, see if I can persuade him otherwise?

Pete: No, no it's not that. Few days ago that Elegance club in Gade got wiped out. We had a brief window, took a chance and put our hats in. After I'd then worked out how much it was gonna cost, I realized I was in way over my head. I'm not good with business. Even this place is on a lease.

Evan: So, how much is he looking to squeeze outta you?

Pete: More than the club's worth. I'm gonna end up bankrupt. Can't even go slit him ear to ear myself cause he knows what I look like and has hired a bunch of security to keep an eye out for me.

Evan: Tell you what, I'll handle this. I'll meet you back here tonight.

Evan and Pete exchange a handshake, as he turns around and walks away with the screen fading to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The screen fades back in with the damaged and destroyed club insides, curtsey of your handy work for Wayne. Men in luminous yellow jackets and hard hats all sit around drinking beers and playing cards, conversing, with security guards slowly paroling the area.

The camera shows another man in the same attire, but an orange jacket making a phone call.

END OF CUTSCENE

A message appears on-screen: Persuade the foreman to get the job done, or take him out.

A silver blip has appeared on the map back in Gadebridge City, representing the club. Grab the nearest parked car and start driving over there. As you get closer, a whole host of blips start appearing in and around the club. A message appears on-screen: Find a way inside and don't get spotted. Wait until you get the foreman alone.

Exit the car and make your way around the back of the club and you'll see some crates stacked underneath an open window. Climb the crates and climb into the window and navigate through the club, avoiding security. The workers will be around the center of the club, slacking off.

Find the foreman and keep an eye on him from a location where you wont be spotted. Eventually, he'll answer his phone and walk towards a bathroom door and go through it. Keep stealth and follow him inside, then the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The foreman goes into a bathroom stall and locks the door behind him, keeping the phone pressed between his shoulder and ear with the side of his head, as he yanks his pants down with both hands, grinning.

Foreman: Baby, I have been waiting for you all my life. Just as we discussed: I've never needed to sh*t this bad, so start talking dirty.

Just as the foreman sits on the porcelain bowl, the oak brown stall door is booted open by Evan. The foreman drops the phone and jolts back. Evan walks in and boots the foreman in the head, causing him to slip and fall off the bowl.

Evan bends down and slaps the foreman in the face a few times, keeping him awake.

END OF CUTSCENE

The foreman slowly stands up, clearly shook up and wobbly.

Evan: You've got a choice to make. Die - here - with your trousers around your ankles, dick in hand, sh*t running down both your legs. Or...

Foreman: Oh, God, I'll take the or. Please, I'll ju--

Evan: Or you finish your business here, as soon as possible I might add, and get this club re-open.

Foreman: Tell Auldrey I'll do it. I'm sorry. I have a wife. Please...

A message appears on-screen: Rough him up a bit more to prove your point, then make your way back to Pete's.

Knock him around a bit but make sure he doesn't die, then make your way out the club, still keeping stealth or you'll attract a lot of unwanted attention, including a three star wanted level. Once out, make your way back to Pete's docks and park in the silver marker outside the barn-like warehouse for the screen to fade.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan is leaning on whatever vehicle you arrived in, arms folded, as Pete walks over to him carrying some documents.

Pete: I don't know what you did, but you're a life saver.

Pete hands Evan the documents as he flicks through them.

Evan: And this is...

Pete: Spoke to my partner. Club's gonna need a manager when it's back up and running next week. He's shortlisted you and nobody else. You're a guy who can get things done, and my partner has kindly paid for us to go on holiday for a few days. I know you won't let me down, man.

Evan: Look, I've got a lot on my plate... I don't know...

Evan looks back down at the documents, flicking through them once more. He looks up to confront Pete, but sees he's quickly walking away. Evan pauses for a moment, then resumes looking through the documents as the screen fades to black.

Haha, thanks man. OG Nig Nog wouldn't really fit in with this. I put a bit of humor in for the most part, but I've tried to make this seem a bit cold, distant, gritty, truthful. Whatever the word is.

I'm not too sure why this isn't getting as popular as my old ones. Perhaps it's just a bad time for inventive script-format writing; carrying this into narrative never works. I did try, hence the beginning format.

Don't stop, man. It's been a lot slower in these parts for the old veterans, it seems. I guess all the new kids aren't about originality, just plain old fan-fiction or horrible one shots.

I'm not stopping. The story is already complete, it's just deciding when I feel's a good time to post a new mission up. happy.gif work tomorrow should be nice n slow as it's a Sunday, so I'll more than likely just continue writing the sequel.

If anyone has any ideas for missions they'd like to see, feel free to drop me a line on here or inbox. It might sound a little sh*tty, but HC had 84 missions, HCS had 66, and RtHC had 55. It's kinda hard to keep thinking up creative mission ideas without back-tracking... so yeah, if you've ever had any cool thoughts for things in missions in real games, hit me up and I'll see what I come up with!

A cool idea to try could be to add music to missions eg:

In my concept thread I am writing, I am making a shootout in a church where "No Church In The Wild by Jay-Z and Kanye West" plays in the background. Having music could make the missions deeper and more dramatic. smile.gif Just a thought, it might work.

You're standing back in front of the car or bike you arrived in, and there are still two blips on the radar - but Pete's is gone, replaced by a 'WH' for Wayne. Save your game, and this time we'll resume with Wayne's missions back in Gadebridge City. Jump in a car and make your way over to his club and park in the silver marker at the foot of the steps leading to the venue for the screen to fade.

The Snow Mobile...

The camera fades in with the club virtually back to normal. A few workers are around setting up for the night ahead, as Evan walks across the black marble dance floor. He stops behind Wayne, who's hunched over the bar on his phone.

Wayne: Yeah... Yeah, okay. See you later.

Wayne puts the phone away and downs a scotch in front of him, turning around to face Evan.

Evan: So, the progress with keeping Goodwin off my ass?

Wayne: Workin' on it. We've got something more important to deal with tonight. Just got off the phone with my boy Razor Rob. The family heard about the troubles down here with The Snowman, the police, the club... and they aren't happy.

Evan: I'm not getting involved with mob politics.

Wayne: I'm not asking you to. What I am asking you, though, is to help me get them off my case a lil' bit.

Evan: Go on.

Wayne: The Snowman is transferring coke using the underground tube station. Razor just told me the change over will be at nine sharp tonight. If we get that truck for the family, they aren't gonna come checkin' in on my business - or yours.

Wayne steps away from the bar and nods his head for Evan to follow him. Both men begin walking away as the screen fades to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The camera comes back in with the dark underground tube station. The lines are all closed off and police are waving pedestrians away from their usual commutes to and from. It cuts to inside one of the tunnels, where two gang members both step out of a large truck and walk down to the platform terminal. The police officers extend their hands down and help both of them up off the tracks.

Cop: We've got a window of an hour before people get suspicious.

Gang Member: We've got this.

The screen fades to black.

FADE IN: GAME PLAY

You're standing at the foot of Wayne's Bar with Wayne. A timer appears on the right-hand side of the screen, counting down from 01:59.

The time has advanced to 7 p.m., and a silver blip has appeared on the map for the tube station in the Downtown district. A message appears on-screen: Get the truck full of cocaine back to Wayne's Bar in one piece.

Wayne: We need wheels. Hurry.

Grab a car and Wayne will dive in the passenger seat. Speed over to the correct tube station platform entrance and cops will begin shooting at your car, keeping guard of the stairs leading down to it. Run 'em down and drive down the steps and onto the track.

Once you get on the track, a green blip will appear and start moving on the radar, signaling the truck is on the move. Drive after it and when you catch up to it, block it off and two gang members will get out and become aggressive.

Exit your car and wipe them out and enter into the truck. Once you're in, the screen will fade to black.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

The camera fades in with cops and gang members standing at the platform edge of a different terminal. Gunshots are heard echoing down the tunnel, and they all turn their attentions to it. One cop grabs his two-way and switches it on.

Cop: Gonna need dispatch to see what the problem is down there. Don't f*ck this up, or Goodwin will have our balls.

END OF CUTSCENE

As you start driving along the tracks, you'll soon receive a four star wanted level. Emerge on the otherside of the tunnel and the cops and gang members from the cutscene will be there, waiting, and will then start firing at the truck.

A damage meter appears on the side of the screen for the truck. Speed along the tracks and into the next tunnel.

Wayne: sh*t. We've gotta find a clean exit outta here.

Keep driving through the underground lines until you find an exit that's not plagued by cops and gang members. Once you find it, drive off the tracks and up the staircase and onto the sidewalk. Soon, cop cars and those crystal white Ranchers will be all over you. Wayne will take aim out the passenger window and try to fend them off -- but you cannot attempt to get this vehicle sprayed.

Follow the blip back to Wayne's Bar and drive into the silver marker around the back in the parking lot for the screen to fade.

FADE IN: CUTSCENE

Evan and Wayne simultaneously exit the truck and slam the doors. They walk around the back of it and look inside the slightly damaged and unhinged doors, seeing bags upon bags of coke. After a moment, Evan's phone will begin to ring. Evan digs deep into his faded jeans pocket and takes it out, answering it as he closes the back doors of the truck.

Goodwin (OS): You just can't f*cking leave well enough alone, can you?

Evan: I take it you had a hand in that with the entourage back there.

Goodwin (OS): That's correct. Now I'm upset -

Evan lets out a coy laugh, turning to face Wayne.

Goodwin (OS): - Not for the coke. No. Because The Snowman is gonna get to eliminate you and Hallows long before I have a chance to.

The line goes dead.

Evan: Looks like Goodwin and those coke runners are gunning for us both now.

Wayne: I said I'd handle it. Consider your brother's debt handled. You ready to start getting back to work with me?

Evan: I'll sleep on it.

Wayne: Ah, c'mon. You're being such a pussy it's almost sickening. Look, I'm going out of town for a few days, and the club's gonna need running. I thi--

Evan skims through his phone as he walks away, leaving Wayne with a quizical look on his face, raising his hands.

Evan: I said I'll sleep on it.

The screen fades to black.

sh*t's really kicking in. Great mission. I will say, and I don't know if this was intentional when you created him, but it seems Evan is an amalgam of the previous Heart City protagonists; he has the more-caring side of Sean, the ruthlessness of Nate, and the cunning of Gerry. Rather neat, I must say.

It's definitely something I thought about when I sat down and started penning ideas for this. I thought about a complete reboot. In a way, this is a whole different game, almost like IV was to III -- at least at the beginning. But as time went on, I figured a sequel wouldn't hurt. When writing it, I thought about all the things I'd previously written, and naturally a new protagonist came to light. It's probably just coincidence that he carries traits over, simply from my writing style. On that note though, it's a protagonist that took me a while to figure out myself. Trying to carry over the pain of him losing his fianceé without over saturating the storyline is something I found difficult. In most cases, if someone's on the run and have just lost the love of their life, they'd not stick around managing night clubs, but otherwise, the story wouldn't be all that great without it. I'm probably rambling now. It wont be long before Evan's past catches up to him, the Zaibatsu begin invading, along with more details of 'The Snowman' and his army; and a family member of someone in RtHC turns up. Ees good times. sleepy.gif
