Finally finished mission 32 this got me very curious how the rest of the game is going to play out. I know chapter 2 won't be as good as the first part but I'm still glad I ain't finished yet.

Well it's true it's mostly retread of some old missions but the new ones are still good. But the challenge of the extreme missions might drive you mad sometimes, also I love Subsistence missions. You start with nothing, everything is procure on site, and that makes me wish there was an option to unequip the primary and secondary weapons anytime you deploy.

I'm trying to get the neutralize Quiet with non-firearm attacks mission task on cloaked in silence extreme.

Any tips on how to get this, my development team level isn't high enough to develop sleep gas mines i tried sneaking up on her to throw some sleep grenades at her but she took off before i could throw them at her.

I had the stealth camo on so i'm not sure how she knew i was there, maybe she didn't and just happened to take off just as i was sneaking up on her.

If you don't care for S rank (which you can get after or before the task) just call a weather modification for a sandstorm or just use the stealth camo.

Thanks Adrian i got it eventually another strategy i read about and tried was to use the sleep gas air strike on Quiet then i called in a supply drop on her even though the mission task states that firearms can't be used on Quiet they can but the final blow has to be non-lethal the rules can be bent but not broken i've allready s-ranked all the missions.

I used sandstorm on previous attempts but didn't find it useful on the cloaked in silence mission, it was very useful on code talker extreme those skulls were a nuisance to take out took me nearly an hour to take them out, Quiet didn't last long against the skulls 2 shots and she was extracted i called her back in as soon as she was released from sickbay.

Oh, I thought for some reason you were playing on extreme difficulty. The supply drop doesn't work there, she always jump out/vanish. It can be done without tricks (and DD) but you have to listen in with the directional mic/binoculars, stay out of sight and it just takes to damn long.

A fight with The End it is not.

I'm trying to finish all the story missions first, including important side ops, before doing those extreme missions. After I got my hands on better gear I was actually thinking about going out to the field without any equipment and using whatever I find. Wanted to do some side ops like this but never got around to it.

I was playing on extreme difficulty when you summon a supply drop on Quiet's location wait until the distance to target reaches 10 then stand up.

Quiet will be so busy shooting at Big Boss that she won't have time to jump away before the supply drop hits her, if you time it right you can hit Quiet with a supply drop.

One video i saw on Youtube which is posted below had someone call in 5 supply drops on Quiet that would take too long for my liking, the quick way is the way i did it use sleeping gas air strike which knocks off more than half her health then call in a supply drop and keep her distracted until it hits her.

I was never able to sneak up on The End when playing the PS2 version of MGS3 he would somehow always spot me, i was able to sneak up on him on the PS3 version of MGS3 only because when the FMV was over the game put me right under the hill that The End was hiding on all i had to do was walk around it and sneak up on him from behind.

Most of the time usually when playing late at night when i couldn't be bothered fighting The End i would just put the date forward a week so he would die of old age.

Very rarely during his first appearance in the game did i manage to kill him when he was in his wheelchair, i've only managed it once.

Be sure to use Powerpyx's video for the shooting side missions on Mother Base some of the targets are in places you wouldn't think to look for targets and can sometimes be difficult to spot.

The way i did those missions was check the video below for the locations of the first few targets pause the video, shoot the targets then check the video for the locations of the next few targets do that for all the shooting side missions it makes it a lot easier and quicker.

The one on the R&D platform is especially difficult. Intel Platform also took me a bit to figure out as well.

I finally got the security team above level 50 i had to transfer a lot of guys from the combat unit to do it, security is way too slow to level up by itself. Combat leveled up to 40 as i was typing this they had been at level 37.

What's the maximum waiting time for soldiers in the brig to be recruited into the mother base ranks, does it take longer for some or is it the same for all soldiers regardless of whether they are A rank or S rank, i've got lot's of A+ A++ and S rank soldiers in the brig, i'd like to get them transferred to the combat unit asap, the get all units above level 50 is the last single player trophy i have to get.

I've been farming S rank soldiers (what few that are there) from the missions Traitor's Caravan and both Code Talker and Code Talker extreme, are there any other missions i can get S rank soldiers from.

I think whoever made Quiet sing that f*cking annoying tune 24/7 needs to be slowly tortured to death in real life, she even starts singing like 5 minutes after you've told her to shut up (sometimes it can be as little time as 5 seconds), even if she's not received anymore commands since. Quite seriously one of the most annoying things in any video game I've ever played, f*ck this bitch. I'd rather play by myself with no help, who the f*ck thought that was a good idea.

You should play all by yourself. And without all the fancy equipment while you're at it. It's the only thing that would make this game challenging. Buddies are completely overpowered and destroy any need for exploration and careful infiltration. The game starts off great but when you start unlocking stuff you realize that they turned the game into third person Farmville. It's obvious that the game was designed around microtransactions too.

So there's a chance for a Metal Gear Solid V:Definitive Edition or something like that. It was spotted on Amazon, called Definitive Ex dated on Dec. 31 2016.

Here's the video:

Many of us hope that we'll see Chapter 3 completed, though chances of that are slim. Recently Konami said they wanna win MGS fans back so who knows. I for one would like to see survival aspect from MGS3 implemented, but possibility of that is at 10%.

...'Definitive Experience', maybe?

IIRC, end-of-year listings like that are SOP for placeholder things like that - it doesn't mean 'actually released on December 31st 2016', just that it needed some kind of date up there for the listing to be created.

Not sure if Konami's really going to go to the length of trying to cobble together the unfinished portions of the game, or if it just means all the pre-order/cosmetic DLC and that one MGO pack come on this disc as standard, and they're just trying to milk more sales with a re-release. Would be nice if there's something coming, but considering that the bulk of post-launch updates amounts to 'revolving FOB events with MGO camo schemes and other wafer-thin cosmetic unlocks', I'd be surprised if there's finally something of any substance being added over a year after launch.

I'lld love to see how MGSV looks on the PS4 Neo, longer draw distance would be cool.

Anyone here still play MGO3? or is it pretty much dead? Seems all the servers are all Bounty Hunter Japan Region, I'm into Cloak and Dagger non rush mode.

I try to play MGO3 on PS4 from time to time. But the game just doesn't have the same appeal like MGO2 did, thus making it... well, empty.

Honestly the game is not very popular, even the Quiet DLC didn't help much. Last time I checked (last week) it was around 400 something players.

For the DefEx they could add the ability to use your online characters gear in SP, like the ghillie suit.

Got the game last week. It was fun at first but now, the missions are getting repetitive and everywhere looks the same. It's becoming boring already.

Got so f*cking stoked when I heard that there was another add-on coming for MGSV. Until I realized it was just some stupid 4 player zombie crap. I think out of all the things this game needed, this was sure as hell not it

This is not something we needed.

This is not something anyone asked for.

This is not a good fit for the Metal Gear franchise.

This is absolute bullsh*t.

f*ck you Konami, just go back to making pachinko machines. They already ruined a good part of Metal Gear V, and now this. I have no doubts when I say that Konami is going to destroy Metal Gear entirely.

It's not needed.

But it looks fun regardless, especially since I love co-op games, so I'm excited for it, can't honestly hate on it.

...I would genuinely laugh if Konami slapped out a 'generic MSF troopers fight zombies in a parallel dimension in the remains of their old base' spin-off, and it turned out to be a fun game. Not saying it won't be, just that it'd be fun if the most cheap, tangentially-related spin-off of the main series was just a good, enjoyable thing in its own right. :pp

That said, I have my doubts, simply because it does look like a cheap way of re-using assets from MGSV - those soldiers look like custom MGO characters, the outfits likewise look like a mix of the various uniforms from MGSV and MGO, obviously the base is modified from the Peace Walker-style Mother Base seen in Ground Zeroes, and I'm almost inclined to wonder if the 'zombie' animations are going to be recycled from the wandering puppet soldiers and Skulls units from V.

(also amazed at the audacity of the premise - 'MSF gets destroyed in a sneak attack by Cypher's forces, leading to Big Boss getting hospitalised and the survivors scattering across the globe. Well, except for the folks who got sucked into a wormhole that inexplicably opened up during the attack, and sucked them into another dimension full of zombies'. Seems legit. :turn: )

So Metal Gear Solid V Definitive comes out on October 11 priced at 49.99$, it's probably gonna be GZ and TPP slapped together with the DLC outfits from Snake Eater that came out few days after release.

Without that third act the game is in an unfinished state. It doesn't matter what they throw in that package. It can't be a real definitive edition if the core game is incomplete. Because of that MGS V is easily in top 5 of my biggest gaming disappointments. And now that Kojima has moved on to other things MGS is dead. For real this time. Let that sink in.

Also, even if a miracle happens and they decide to release the game with a complete third act, there's no way in hell that I'm paying for it. Who would buy the game twice just to get the actual finished product that they were supposed to get from the start? That sets a bad precedent and the gaming industry is already miserable enough with their attempts to milk money out of every hole they can find.

I may consider buying it again, after nearly 700 quality hours so far out of this game (I'll admit probably 100 sitting in the ACC) it's well worth a purchase if anyone new is thinking of getting the Definitive Experience.

I'm steadily working my way to my goal of within the top 1000 PF and ESPG world rank on PS4 fully legit (ESPG is easiest of course). If I get there I will decide if I should move on for now. (PM me if you are on PS4 and need legitimate supporters.)

One of my funniest freeroam moments...

So it's been over a year since the game has been out and allot of us have probably finished it, in the long run how has the ending impacted you guys? Have you accepted it, did you go back to playing the game again? It left mostly everyone i know who played it salty and even i didn't touch it for a good long while, then came back did some Side Ops and it's been a while since i last played it, now about the ending.

I feel like the execution could've been better but all in all i've accepted it and it makes real good sense in the overall story arch, although i'm still pissed about how Konami says that the cut Episode has nothing to do with the overall story and it is complete, which infact it is not, Eli's arch was left unfinished with that Mission being cut, i'm saying what many have probably said but it's what it is, i'll probably go into more depth cause i love the franchise and i love talking about it a bit later,

so thoughts? have you went back to the 80's since it's release? or was the ending revelation to bitter to take another bite?

Honestly? The entire game is a huge let down and it's not entirely Konami's fault. MGS was not meant to be open world, especially since it just re-uses the same damn places over and over again, getting rid of David Hayter was a huge mistake, toning down the story just to cater to some scrubby ass casuals that have never played the game is a giant middle finger towards the die hard community.

I know in terms of story for a Metal Gear game it's not much, but as a game on itself, it's okay, i enjoyed the stealth and certainly not the high note it was suppose to be to end the Saga on but it's not terrible, i liked the story for what it is, MGS1 will always be my favorite but that has to do with it being my first Metal Gear.

I did have gripes with the voice work in the cassettes though, i'm okay with the change from Hayter to Sutherland but it was hard to understand who was talking when listening to the cassette tapes.

I still can't get over it, the overall end of the game was missing something.

For example every numbered MGS game has a battle with the main bad guy (well I can't call The Boss the villain but you get the idea), and I'm not talking about a mech battle. There's always a 1 on 1 at the end of each game.

The ending itself could've been better, it was suppose to be a bridge between MGSV and MG. It would be perfect if for example Venom got the IntrudeN313 message, then a cutscene shows him waiting in a room getting ready for a battle. Then a door opens and it shows a shadowy figure holding the Beretta M9, then the fog reverts Venom back in front of the mirror.

Now that would've been perfect, even better if we were fighting Venom as Solid Snake.

The ending wasn't what I expected, the same can also be said about most of Act II, which was mostly missions on Extreme.. after we killed Skull Face, things just got hazy and the story lost direction with its central antagonist dead. We only got "cutscenes antagonists" from that moment on, there weren't any bosses or anything else significant to fight during the second half of the game except in Quiet Exit.

Knowing that, I do sometimes think about redownloading the game to play through the missions again. I still have objectives to finish, but I already S-ranked all the missions and did all the Side Ops, so I have no reason to come back to this game.

It's a shame too, because the controls and Snake's movement were very smooth and responsive. The open world aspect was different, but it gave us variety in how we finished our missions. In terms of gameplay, Phantom Pain was superb.

My opinion hasn't really changed. The core gameplay was excellent, the main missions a treat. Simple, true, but the sandbox nonlinearity and the amount of options the game offered gave them depth that they wouldn't have otherwise. I don't have much desire to replay the game for the third time though. The missions all felt like a puzzle to crack and once I knew all the paths to completion, all the surprises in store, the charm has worn off. Sure, I could do various challenge runs, experiment with equipment and playstyles, but I don't have much desire to do that just yet. Maybe I'll revisit the game next year, who knows.

The period setting was only brushed upon, but KojiPro still did it more justice that most other games dealing with the same subject. I still think that the Venom switcheroo was a good idea, even though the execution lacked the proper build-up and punch. It tied to the series' themes really well and Big Boss' ultimate downfall being stealing the Medic's life instead of the atrocities the marketing hyped up was a clever twist, but I see why that doesn't work for everyone. Chapter 2 was a whimper, though how much that can be blamed on Konami and how much was that by design (remember PW) - we'll never know. Quiet and Paz's story arcs hit right where they needed. Eli's plotline and the Episode 51 was a trainwreck, but I don't think the sole inclusion of that one mission/area would redeem the story in its entirety. It was just the most sore sticking point out of the story that had problems all around.

Overall, I still got what I wanted out of the game. And I bought a next-gen console for it, so that's no small feat. Despite its many issues, it was one of the few titles in years that really felt like something truly exceptional that I don't get to see all the time.

Can I just say that Skullface was a bad villain? He was so under developed.

It's not like he did anything wrong, he wasn't really the generic villain. Anyone with the self awareness to call himself Skullface is already better than a generic villain.

But he was just disappointing.

Skull Face was still great in the tapes. The Code Talker interrogation tape is one of my favorites and James Horan has an amazing voice and delivery. A good actor can do wonders with a bad material, so that's perhaps why I have a higher opinion on the character than he really deserves.

The problem is that his performance in the cutscenes is like a complete opposite. Not even Volgin was this laughably hammy (WOULDN'T YOU AGREEEEE) and he really doesn't do anything in the game to properly challenge the hero. And they've set him up so well in Ground Zeroes... he has an interesting backstory, a decent motivation and a plan (putting the stupid magic parasites aside) and what he did to Paz and Chico was absolutely disgusting. All the makings of a solid villain were there, but squandered.
