For the life of me, tonight I will write down the mission I'm stuck on and hope someone helps me tomorrow. I've been stuck on the same mission for three months plus. I want to get back into this game and beating this mission is the ticket. I've been gone for too long and its time.

Lelouch The Zero

I picked this game up the other day for the 360 and it's pretty good so far. I've only played like 4-5 missions though. For a game this new on a last gen console, it looks way better than i'd had expected it to look, it's a wonder the game even runs with graphics like that. Framerate might be a little bad at times but the game plays pretty smooth overall. Now, I haven't played MGS3, Peace Walker, or Ground Zeroes, but I have played MGS1, MGS2, and MGR Revengeance. I looked up the synopsis for those games that I haven't played so I'm not all that lost. But I will still get that HD collection in the future to try those out, Ground Zeroes as well. I also picked up MGS4 for the PS3 but haven't touched it yet. You know, of all the Metal gear games I've played, I'd have to say my favorite so far is probably the first game. The way the story and atmosphere was set up is phenomenal. The OST was great as well. NOTE: I'm talking about the PS1 version, not the "Twin Snakes" version on the Gamecube because I've never played that.

Twin Snakes could have been way better if they didn't have snake doing backflips with 72-inch verticals. The cutscenes were too over the top, and they didn't use the original soundtrack, which was kind of annoying. Other than that, it was still fun.

Other than the challenge missions, I've almost S-ranked every mission except #30. Skull Face is the hardest for me right now since it's so linear. That base is a bitch to sneak through. I might as well kill everybody and not worry about getting Foxhound rank.

Edit: Finally did it!! I got a neat little present out of it all too.

No HF Blade? I'm disappoint.

I had this game collecting dust for quite some time. put it in a few days ago and, gat-damn, it peforms so well and looks stunning at the same time. It is honestly the only game for the PS4 that truly feels NEXT-GEN to me, in some way.

I have the Witcher 3 here, but I can't play that 30 fps-or-less-mess...just, NO! 4 hours into it...never touched it again.

GTA V looks great and the performance is good, the NEXT-GEN vibe is there, but not a much as in MGS:V. still I play online whenever I can.

Destiny is just a shooter that looks nice and performs quite well, but it got boring after a year.

so yeah, Phantom Pain had my jaw drop, again, for how beautiful it looks when you just ride through the desert on your horse and swing the camera around (red dead redemption nostalgia factor 10) - and for how damn smoooth the gameplay is. I admit I need to learn a lot more things about this game, alle the gimmicks and what not, I haven't played for more than maybe 6 or 7 hours and I haven't made much progress at all, but still I love the game

just found out you can listen to music tapes at anytime....that's really cool!

I just thought it was dope, and wanted to share this article with y'all: "How 'Metal Gear Solid' Inspired the Coolest Prosthetic Ever".

Metal Gear Online’s “Cloaked in Silence” DLC Arrives on March 15th

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/news/news-18487-Metal-Gear-Online---s---%EF%BF%BDCloaked-in-Silence--%EF%BF%BD-DLC-Arrives-on-March-15th.html

I'd still like to have the option to play as Quiet in single player

Some of the mission tasks can be annoying like hit the floating boy with an attack it was easier to hit the floating boy with an attack in mission 31 than it was in mission 20, or listen to a certain amount of conversations between enemy soldiers, none of those are as annoying as having to wait for the interpreter to interrogate all the prisoners in the mission Lingua Franca for the last prisoner he decided to walk the "long" way round to get there it took him 40 minutes to get to where he was going, even though he had a jeep that he could have used he decided to walk.

Not directly related to MGS V, but I find the management stuff boring... i know that it's deep and captivating if you like it, but if you're not into this, it can be a pain. I liked GZ. I was playing peace walker (ps3, hd remaster) but after 30 minutes of interesting exposition, a short but sweet level and a captivating cliffhanger (THEY'RE BRINGING NUKES HERE !!!) i got into mother base... and I quitted.

a) there's a way for those new "management" MGS (portable ops,PW and TPP) to simulate/automate the managing stuff, so i can go from mission to mission without worrying (and whit a decent equipment)?

b) if i can't avoid the micromanaging, those three games are essential to play*** (story-wise)? I know what the final scene in TPP is, so i think it is skippable, right?

c) it is possible to play THE WHOLE GZ or TPP with solid snake suit (so if i really have to play, at least it's with good old Dave XD)?.

*** i know Portable ops is "sort of non-canon", but i wanted to play it because it's the last "normal" mgs, with underboss and final bosses, not a fight against AI machines with no crawling (PW) or an open-world experience (TPP)

About 17% in and holy f*ck, should have bought this earlier or even better, should've been interested in the series earlier. I wantched what happened in the previous games that play before V and that's like exactly the game I've always wished for.

I'm not sure if playing the older games would be as fun though. Too late for the party :(

It's never to late. I'm a huge MGS fan, i really do make it a point to tell that as much as i can. You should try MGS 3 if you liked watching it you'll love playing it.

I havn't touched the game in so long. Been thinking of playing MGS 3.

I find the management to be tedious too i'm currently trying to get all teams up to level 50 i've got the combat team up to level 52, security to level 37, R&D to level 49, the BDU team to level 49, the support team to level 47, the intel team to level 50 and the medicial team to level 50, security takes way too long to level up i've been stuck with a L37 security team for i don't know how long.

It's be great if Konami would release a patch that would get rid of all soldiers with the troublemaker skill, they are literally more trouble than they are worth and serve no useful purpose.

I once had 20 troublemaker soldiers and the constant fighting and staff being sent to sickbay was very annoying i dismissed all 20 of them and i now instantly dismiss any new troublemaker soldiers that volunteer even if it means a team levelling down it's a small price to pay so i don't have to put up with constant messages about fighting breaking out amongst Mother Base staff and them being sent to sickbay.

I haven't noticed any clicking from Big Boss or any of the bad guys, maybe it's his prosthetic arm that's making the noise, the only noise i hear from Big Boss is what i assume the noise his gun makes when Big Boss is running that might be the noise you are referring to.

Honestly, there's not much to go back to really.

After I finished the main story, I actually wanted to 100% complete the game. But the random animal spawning crap stopped me from doign that. Basically, you have to put down capture cages in specific areas, and hope that you will catch something you didn't before.

I had no problem completing the repetitive side-ops missions, but I got up to 79% or so, and just stopped. I just couldn't care anymore.

Then there were some sh*t you had to collect after

You find Paz on Mother Base

. Ended up not doing that, because I couldn't really give a f*ck at that point.

I did clock in 80 hours in the end though. Apart from Fallout 3 and New Vegas, no other game kept me captivated for that long.

I'm definitely on the "story sucked" bandwagon, but it wasn't really for the twist at the end, but more like the huge amount of missing missions and content.

It was a real bummer having to watch what was essentially a huge part of the story cut and on youtube (Episode 51)

Are you talking about the old mother base soldiers side ops?

That story arc revolving Paz was actually good, i liked it if you havn't done it you should

Maybe one day i'll come back yknow am thinking about it replaying MGS 3 etc. i love the series still.

A fun story is that i was a kid and my first time with MGS was a pirated version that had cut cutscenes and no voice over in the codec screen. and i still loved it, i didn't know it was incomplete hell as a 5 year old how could i :p .. then one day my uncle gave me MGS 1, Half-Life 1 and SWAT 3 .. my first ever original games i've probably played (almost 12 or 10 years ago) .. i was so amazed to see the cutscenes and all the awesome stuff and that the game was fully voiced haha ever since MGS has been one of the few franchise's i've loved.

Nah I'm thinking about 95% of the side-ops. All of them were the same shtick in a different location. They weren't really boring, but it became quite annoying to do the same thing for a sh*tload of times.

It wasn't a bummer, it was a tragedy.

There is a lot to go back to. Getting the S rank in all the missions and all the tasks makes you see the game in a whole new light. Soldiers are different, now you have armored guys and ones with shields. In Red Brass you have a task to extract the officer and his 3 guards that ride with him. Or play C2W on Subsistence, put a claymore near the comm equipment and one near the transmitter. Go around to the hill and shoot the claymores and throw the granade through the broken wall so it will explode with the claymore. Now you completed the mission and not even got spotted.

There is so much replay value it's mind blowing.

I finished the game months ago and there's something I would like to say. Am I the only one who found the game to have a tense atmosphere? I was never relaxed playing this game due to the psychological pressure that it induces into you, be it from difficult infiltration missions of big spaces, story-related elements (e.g. human experiments, shape-shifting humans, war economy), environment/setting-related factors (mostly isolated and deserted forests, rocky hills, deserts, villages), or even the creepy music that starts playing in the background while trying to infiltrate through an enemy site.

In a nutshell, the game has a dread factor intentionally embedded into it.

For the most part, but there are some more relaxing points as well. Obviously back at mother base or on the heli, but out in the field as well. I enjoyed riding around with d-horse and listing to music, exploring new areas. Or just seeing up a good vantage point to scout out an area. Taking your time with that isn't that stressful. But yeah on the missions, there is that time crunch, plus you don't want to die, so yeah that can be stressful. Heck even the first mission was kinda intimidating. They did a really good job with it, just wish Konami didn't push out the team way to early.

There's a way to boost my R&D team to level 11?

I've done just the first 3 missions, a bunch of extra ops and i've unlocked Kojima (from MGS GZ).

I absolutely WANT the mgs1 snake camo for the rest of the game, and i don't want to progress with the story without it... but i'm stuck to level 7 or 8.

What can i do?

And as expected, as soon as i got an answer here, my team reached level 11... i just had to wait.

By the way, having the "MGS1 snake" equipped is **** amazing.

I'm going to play the rest of the game pretending it's a big VR mission, where snake (yes, SOLID snake) relieves big boss adventures (like raiden's VR training), but at the same time fighting against glitches and bugs in the Foxengine system (as seen in the "deja vu" mission of GZ, so to explain the crazy **** that happens in the game as a "big bad bug").

Finally finished the last "storyline" mission, and as usual i have lots of questions

Obvioulsy, MEGASPOILER

- Isn't out of character for big boss to escape from the battle and to follow Zero's plan?
- what's the meta/Fourth wall reason for playing as fake big boss? Yeah there is the whole theme of "I Am big boss too", but... "i" was also killed by solid snake (that "I" was controlling in the msx game)... so basically i killed myself? A bit confused about the meta reasons...
- why the man with the bandage who saved me from the hospital (aka real big boss) looks nothing like boss under the bandage? If it is a mistake is a pretty big mistake, since the game often focus on his shaved face, and two working eyes. And after a couple hours he is the big boss we know.
- i swear, i don't understand the role of mantis. He wants to kill big boss and venom or he's just playing around? He seems so powerful he can kill everybody when he wants, yet he lose a lot of times and good opportunities. I've read that there's a mental bond between mantis actions and boss (and other characters) "lust for revenge", but it seems really ... "weird" and contrived, to say the least
- a bit unrelated but... quiet. What are her powers? Sometimes she seems she can escape bounds (like handcuffs) other times che cant (the shock torture... we already see her bounded before being covered in salt water)
- Why mantis is called "third child"? I immediately tought about solidous, but in-game why he has that name?

- finally, i've seen online some cut-scenes about nuclear disarmament... are they just FOB related or i can have them offline too?

I'm trying to get the neutralize Quiet with non-firearm attacks mission task on cloaked in silence extreme.

Any tips on how to get this, my development team level isn't high enough to develop sleep gas mines i tried sneaking up on her to throw some sleep grenades at her but she took off before i could throw them at her.

I had the stealth camo on so i'm not sure how she knew i was there, maybe she didn't and just happened to take off just as i was sneaking up on her.

Well it's true it's mostly retread of some old missions but the new ones are still good. But the challenge of the extreme missions might drive you mad sometimes, also I love Subsistence missions. You start with nothing, everything is procure on site, and that makes me wish there was an option to unequip the primary and secondary weapons anytime you deploy.

If you don't care for S rank (which you can get after or before the task) just call a weather modification for a sandstorm or just use the stealth camo.

Thanks Adrian i got it eventually another strategy i read about and tried was to use the sleep gas air strike on Quiet then i called in a supply drop on her even though the mission task states that firearms can't be used on Quiet they can but the final blow has to be non-lethal the rules can be bent but not broken i've allready s-ranked all the missions.

I used sandstorm on previous attempts but didn't find it useful on the cloaked in silence mission, it was very useful on code talker extreme those skulls were a nuisance to take out took me nearly an hour to take them out, Quiet didn't last long against the skulls 2 shots and she was extracted i called her back in as soon as she was released from sickbay.
