You can ignore them if you want. All that is necessary is to play the yellow side ops and listen to yellow tapes. Every once in a while, there won't be no important side ops to complete, but you can just grind two or three quick normal side ops to unlock the next cutscene.

I just deployed to do some Side Ops, and this view .. it just took my breath away. So beautiful.

The Moonlight is great I am guessing that the always Full Moon thing in the game can be interpreted many ways. The game has a really really smooth type of colour gradient in the sky unlike other games with obvious lines/gradient changes.

I would love to play with no HUD and no music and random sounds for an immersive experience...too bad the audio options are non existent

Tbh this game has the greatest graphics, lightning, and cutscenes ever. I have never seen something like this before, which is why MGSV is one of the most special games I've played in a while.

You must not have played The Witcher 3 then.

Misunderstood

God, finally finished all 158 (?) side ops. Took me forever.

Now onto the hard part, doing all mission tasks and getting S in everything. Plus, I got to extract all animals. Wish me luck. ;(

Started doing that last night, haven't played the game for a while (Fallout 4) but I found out with the latest patch you can get Quiet back.

So I jumped back in, found Tsuchinoko (again, there was one in MGS3) but can't seem to get that Okapi bastard. It's like half zebra half donkey loking thing, only few missions need S rank (Extreme ones) and just gotta dispose of the nuke, and I got me a platinum trophy.

So i just found out about Philanthropy and The Patriots, these reddit groups are going at it trying to prevent one another from getting full on nuclear disarmament, it's hilarious.

IIRC you can find the Okapi right near one of the helicopter drop points. It's the one in the middle of the forest/swamp between the oil platform and one of the combat outposts. Bring along D-Dog and it should be an easy find, a non-lethal rifle is a plus.

A lot of people seem to think that the sideops are extremely repetitive and get boring.

All they've been doing for me is show me just how well I can salvage a bad situation under pressure and that I can f*cking improvise like a pro.

Really, those tank unit ones.

I was f*cking stumped when the tank honked its horn once and woke up all the guys I have worked my dick off to simultaneously tranq.

But at the end of the day, when they go over to investigate the balloon man telling them they're pretty good and turn back and there's no tank, and get taken out without ever noticing... I call that a win.

They're a good way to experiment with new gear on the cheap, too - partly because you can move from side-op to side-op with the same vehicle/buddy without having to spend a packet on deployment costs each time, and partly because there's a bunch of stuff (like stealth camo and the more esoteric D-Walker weapons) that aren't great for regular missions, since they restrict your final mission score to A-rank or lower.

That, and they're decent farming missions - tanks sell for a good amount, while wandering puppets automatically earn a service cross when you extract them.

That's because people are replaying the ones they completed, the ones with the check mark. I used to do this all the time and I was like WTF for a while before I realised the ones without the check mark, and now side ops are really fun. They get harder as the game goes on.

I'm guessing the new limited edition weapon and FOB/motherbase colours are supposed to be Christmas themed because they are really really ugly in my opinion...can't wait to see what else Konami put in the game without imput from Kojipro.

Really loving being able to support my one friend who plays MGSV on PS4, bit too late though I think.

You guys notice that challenge page in your iDroid? You can get a massive amount of GMP and high-ranking staff if you massacred the game. Finally got R&D above 60 and am really close to getting everything up there also. I need to mess with FOB though, but other games occupy my mind. :p

Yeah, the challenges are a welcome addition - managed to weed out the last few sub-A+ staff from Mother Base, and replace them with better troops from the challenge rewards. That, and my goodness, it's nice to suddenly get an influx of dozens of vehicles in my inventory - made a pretty penny selling off most of them, and now I've got 6 of each type of 4WD, truck, tank, walker gear, etc., which gives me plenty to spare for combat deployments.

In other news, I'm looking forward to the teased DLC expansion for MGO - I like what they've been doing with the balance updates and such, but that's not been enough to tear me away from GTAO, really. But new maps and (hopefully!) new characters/outfits/modes? Very much a welcome - and sorely-needed! - addition. They've already teased a Mother Base-inspired map, which is very promising - nice to have something more industrial, and with a greater emphasis on verticality.

I still don't understand why this game doesn't have coop.

Peace Walker has coop. The MP in this game is garbage Deathmatch.

I wonder if there will be any Christmas lights and other Christmas stuff when i visit Mother Base tomorrow there probably won't be but it would be great to see Mother Base covered in Christmas stuff, if Snake's birthday can be celebrated then so can Christmas.

So, i finally finished it. Honestly, i liked the story sure it was a letdown in terms of the amount of story from previous installments but in whole i liked it. Spoilers ahead. For me the story consists of the Missions, Cassette Tapes & the cut mission "Episode 51"

1) Big Boss.

Venom Snake! So you're not Big Boss but at the same time you are. In over all context it kinda makes sense sure you have to fill in the missing pieces but it does add up with the ending of Metal Gear. Why else would Big Boss send in Snake to kill himself. I have to agree they could have executed it greatly but it does make sense.. Well Metal Gear Sense .. if Metal Gear made total sense it wouldn't be Metal Gear now would it?

2) Quiet.

I'll acknowledge the elephant in the room, Quiets well not so battle standard outfit. apart from that i liked Quite, allot actually later through the game when the story picked up. I wasn't expecting why she didn't speak and A Quite Exit .. i have to say one of the best missions in the game. There was this affection between Quite and Snake that was just charming.

3) Eli & Episode 51.

We all knew Eli was Liquid, that was no surprise and we all knew The Third Child was Psycho Mantis. that plot line although could've been better but really they screwed that part up with not including the 51st Mission. I have to say that was and is an essential part of the story that i consider cannon. I'd happily want konami to atleast make that episode so the story gets completed

At the end i loved the game and i really enjoyed it. The story although could've been better i did not find disappointing.

If you like 80's music, it's the soundtrack of the year. Honestly I wish there were more songs in the game. Even the instrumental tracks were top notch. Great for either sneaking or blasting from the chopper.

That's good to hear.

I started playing the series for the first time and I'm on the second disk in MGS.

The first thing I noticed was the soundtrack which makes it very atomspheric.

Do we actually want episode 51, though?

I honestly want chapter 3.

Episode 51 wraps it up, sure.

But did you guys watch the video? The mission is literally fighting Sahelanthropus again.

So if it was there from the start, the game's natural progression would have been...

Episode 31, you fight Sahelanthropus.

Episodes 32-49, you finally break into the OP territory. You get the amazing RPGs and the Rocket Arm and generally all the cool OP stuff.

Episode 50, fight Sahelanthropus on extreme, which ended up being easier than the first time due to the fact that your firepower increases at a much bigger rate than the game's Extreme difficulty.

Episode 51, fight Sahelanthropus on the same difficulty as episode 31, effectively being easier to tackle than that motherf*cking base in Afghanistan that has a billion guards even though it's smaller than my f*cking bedroom!

Yeah. I'll take Chapter 3, please.

And a solution to Sahelanthropus. Because after that thing, I don't see how Metal Gear Rex would be at all threatening.

"Metal Gear!? It can't be! Wait, this one's smaller, slower, has less firepower and can take less hits than another Metal Gear which was killed by a man that I killed with no effort.

Who cares?"

I want Chapter 3 to but sadly that's asking to much. Episode 51 is well something i would rather like to play than watch.

Now on the topic of Sahelanthropus what i believe to be is that Big Boss destroyed Sahelanthropus and all data related to it knowing that such a weapon would be really bad news. When Big Boss went rogue he remembered the threat Sahelanthropus had so figured to make a new Metal Gear but not having the data and the back of an organization like Cipher he made do with what he could.

Sahelanthropus was buried. it's development it's field test. All of it was buried so the general world even FOXHOUND doesn't know of it's existence so the threat of a Metal Gear never really caught on in the 80's thus giving way to Rex.

I just found out, the harsh way, that all an intruder has to do to disarm my nuke is hold Y for 2 seconds.

So, no matter how well f*cking fortified everything is...

This asshole. This degenerate... Spawned in, made a mad dash towards my f*cking nuke, extracted it, was gunned down within 40 f*cking seconds of spawning and it still counted as a disarm.

f*ck this game.

That's actually pretty funny. Like I could totally see people now using Raiden's outfit to make a mad dash to the core base just to easily steal nukes lol. I don't f*ck with the whole nuke business but is does sound rather upsetting. for something, that takes 30 hours of gameplay to make. they sure can get stolen rather easily.

As of the even skins, they are alright. I haven't looked at the gun skins, but they outfits and base skin are alright. I mostly just shocked that there was even some type of Christmas event in this game whatsoever. was definitely a nice surprise.

I do love the quiet emblem, though.

V3WVaPV.png

I know they also added a quiet nameplate, but the objective is rather difficult, as I can't seem to get a defender to join in an FOB battle.

I didn't really wanna bump this, because there's not much to talk about in general.

But I was recently reminded about something in this game.

This game has the best sprinting I've ever seen in a video game.

The subtle camera shake, the sound, the speed... The pure force behind every step.

It feels like the ground shakes beneath Venom's feet. It's so gratifying to simply run in this game.

No other game does it like that... Every other games just makes you run like a weightless pussy.

Tears of War also made you run like some kind of monster, I never liked that kind of sprinting to be honest. Unless you're walking around in a mech the ground doesn't shake like that.

Any news on the MGO for PC? I havn't played the game for more than a month been busy with college and the time i get i play The Witcher 3

Edit

So it just happens to be that today MGO came to PC, 3.7 GB now that would take a little time to download. what sucks is that you cant play the game while it's downloading, you cant play single player while online downloads .. dammit steam.

Here's something that some may not have considered in relation to the games title "The Phantom Pain"

By replacing David Hayter with KF Hideo Kojima is making everyone who misses David as Snake experience their own version of "The Phantom Pain"

Don't say it isn't possible because it could be and it would be classic Kojima if it were true.

There were plenty of times during the game that i felt something was missing that something of course being David Hayter.

That's one interpretation of what "The Phantom Pain" could be, Kojima has broken the 4th wall many times in the MGS games this could be another 4th wall break
